So THIS is the famous K.A. Applegate. Mrs. Applegate, I salute you! Your Animorphs were such an important and memorable part of my childhood. Thank you for all of the hard work you put into it!
The 25th anniversary of Animorphs is coming, Scholastic. May 17, 2021. What better way to celebrate the 25th anniversary than by announcing that a movie is finally being made? #AnimorphsMovie #Animorphs25thAnniversary #5/17/21AnimorphsMovie #TheYeerksInvadeTheatersOn5/17/26
2018 and this is still true. Meet our demands with an amazing trilogy (bear minimum) or suffer the consequences of yeerk inspired "hollywood blockbuster" in-comparisons!
Watching this in 2018 as a dorky kid who grew up getting lost in books. The Animporphs was one of my favorite series back then. I hold it in as high regard as I hold the Goosebumps series. I always wanted to be a writer, but I was always a perfectionist getting stuck on every tiny detail. If it wasn't the greatest it wasn't good enough. (This is how to never write a book) Recently I've been entertaining the idea of writing, for the bazillionth time, and in an unrelated thought today I imagined my spirit animal would probably be an Andalite, and it sent me on a Katherine Applegate research quest. I'm glad I did because hearing her points of view gives me a whole new perspective and helps tear down that imaginary block that tells you writing is a talent that you have or you don't. Most every skill is one that's learned, and writing is no different. The craziest thought I take home from this video is we would have never had the Animorphs as we know them if Katherine and her husband didn't put their heads together and make a single idea from two completely different interests.
Biggest secret to know about being any kind of artist, writer/painter/singer ect., to you your own work will always be shit. Just go for it and don't seek perfection.
Well, I'm 33, and have the fondest memories of reading Animorphs as a school kid. The Andalite Chronicles was one of my prize possessions. It was Animorphs and R.L Stine's Goosebumps for me ☺
I first read Animorphs when I was 10(2006). Here I am, 14 years later, really wanting the series to be continued or at least properly adapted to tv. I absolutely love this series.
If they actually did the movies properly, Animorphs has the potential to be one of the best most successful and critically acclaimed book-to-movie adaptions like the Harry Potter movies. On a related note, there were some movie makers saying that Everworld would make a kickass film series.
I love K.A. and her husband for making these books. They mean a lot to me and made me want to take up writing. That being said: Tobias book? HOPE YOU LIKE READING THE WORD THERMALS!
I hated reading when I was a kid. But, when Animorphs came out for the first time. My cousin bought me book one, hopping I would starting reading. well it got me hook on these books. I was in the Animorphs Fan Club, went to Animorphs book club nights at the books store, watch the TV series, got the toys and etc.. lol Animorphs series will always be my favorite Book series. My book are put away for now. But I hope someday, when I have kids. I Hope I could get them into read these books.
I thought the ending was PERFECT. I think it did an incredible job of portraying war, and if nothing else it made Jake's character a lot more interesting to me than he'd been before. I'm not a leader-type so I never understood him much, but watching him have to make so many hard choices that were going to end ugly no matter what, having to do things that made him almost a bad guy, it was really fascinating. Most adult books don't even do it that well.
If the make Animorphs into a movie, then it should be like 60 movies. I'd rather have it be a 1-2 hour weekly show, where each book can be spread into 1,2,or even 3 episodes. That way everything will be covered. And around 10 books per season for 6-7 seasons would be cool, that would make it between 20 and 30 episodes per season. And it has to be TV-14 and not pg. Maybe a channel like Sundance or IFC could do it justice. Because even though it's a children's book series, being on a children's network wouldn't do it any good.
Agreed. I liked that Jake ended up with PTSD and am fine with the fact that nobody ever really got over the war, but GNAKFNADDFJARKJ EVERYTHING ELSE. Why did Jake and Cassie have to remain apart? Why did Rachel have to die (actually I'm biased here and it SHOULD be a smaller issue for me but Rachel was easily my favorite) and worst of all THE FUGGEN CLIFFHANGER DOWNER ENDING.
I started reading the books when I was 18! And I couldn't stop! I'm 21 now, I've read every book at least twice, and I can't wait for a movie series to come out!
Ahh, cinnabuns. so glad that this is being relaunched, this was a great book series. I read it when my younger sister read it quite enjoyed it (it's called a kids book, but I enjoyed it as an adult of about 20 years old). Now, my kids who are about the right age to start reading it themselves - I'll definitely be getting all the re-released stuff.
Applegate originally intended to write every Animorphs book herself. However, due to many contributing factors-such as the birth of her child and the difficulties involved in writing Everworld (which was originally intended to be mostly ghostwritten, like Applegate's third Scholastic series Remnants), she ended up having a large number of the books ghostwritten.
Hey, everyone! We just finished working hard on the first ever audiobook with sound effects for Animorphs #1: The Invasion! Watch/listen to it here and let us know what you think! ruclips.net/video/xZs-XXN4UgM/видео.html
Wow. What a difference 8 years can do to you. They did wonderful. Wish I could read a book and be spooked like when I was a kid. Harry Potter and Animorphs really made me feel immersed. I want to feel that again. Hatchet scared me out of my mind so bad I threw the book across the room and couldn't sleep all night. Described the dead pilot I think is where I stopped. Never read it again.
I remember asking people at the book store for any other books written by her. they were romance novels if I remember correctly. the person at the book store was like "your'e not going to like these books"
I just finished watching the series on RUclips and the main question I had was "it looks like those are flashlights 🔦 so why are they exploding things?!" (Also just turned 28, and I'm not sure if I saw the series or read the books previously, meaning when I was younger).
I like the Animorphs but I also enjoy everworld. Everworld was awesome you just have to have a more mature mind to be able to handle the more mature novel. It may has some profanity but other than that, it is pretty cool and it's also trippy. I always found the characters Serena and Josh very interesting. I also like the Astec and Norse gods. One of the jokes that are not appropriate for younger audiences that I specially enjoyed and I can do that cuz I'm an adult, even though I read this as a 10 year old child, (even though it may be ironic or hypocritical, as a child I still always found a way to view adult content as long as it was comedy based. Of course I wouldn't look of anything like explicit like nudity or anything because all I really did was watch comedy shows that were for adults like South Park Family Guy Robot Chicken and even read hilarious books with adult content and I understood it even as a kid. That is because I was highly intelligent. highly intelligent genius is have a and they aren't afraid of curse words. after all hopefully people can get over the "Oh, I have virgin ears" kind of aspect.) I can still say that one of the jokes I found funny is when they're making fun of the Greeks, Trojans and condoms.
Fun Fact: K.A. Applegate didn't write all of the Animorphs books many of the novels from the #25-#52 range were written by ghostwriters typically Applegate would write a detailed outline for each book and a ghostwriter usually one of Applegate's former editors or writing protégés would spend a month or two writing the actual novel
That explains a lot. I always wondered how one person could write a 110 to 130 page book in a month, for over two years. Not that it can't be done. But it sure as hell isn't easy.
In addition to what others have said about the Animorphs final book (which I will never read ever again), there's also the Everworld ending. Again, FABND;ALKFHDAOHVNALNVDA;LNVDA;M. I understand that Katherine was under a LOT of pressure and Everworld was the hardest series for her to write, but what TO THIS DAY angers me is that she couldn't go back and write a proper ending or at least a short epilogue on her site or something. That said, Animorphs and Everworld are still in my top five books.
answer to #2: it was hard, it got easier as I developed the different personas. it was very easy when i handed the book series over to a bunch of ghost writers who were not farmiliar with the charecter traits that each animorph held. i completly love the Animorph series (((((((((((((((((((((((((:
So I read her explanation for why she ended animorphs the way she did. I respect but disagree with her reasoning that it needed to end darkly to convey the reality of war. I think that message got through to us over and over again in the series. Everyone wanted to see a happy ending after all the darkness. What I don't think she ever explained is why it had to end on a cliffhanger.
I didn't want a happy ending. And from what I've seen online, a good chunk of fans didn't. Especially the older audience. The cliffhanger is a different story, though.
both three parter of the change and the face off were aired as A ninty minutes movie and i am not sure about the two parter of my name is Jake and the capture were ever aired as A sixty minutes movie
I remembered how many times of breathless excitement anticipation of the newest book coming out. I wish they would reboot the t.v. show, and not make it kid orientated, because the books were way more mature with the teenagers. I all thought they were adults with what they had to go through and the way they always acted, I don't think the t.v. show did that justice. Someone should pick Animorphs up again and not make it the "goofy kids" show that it was.
apparently not every one was buying the relaunch animorphs books with is why Lay are no longer around i couldn't even find the relaunch animorphs books any where

*She's a great writer!* :D
🤣
@The Seven Musketeers You misunderstand, the trauma is what made it so good.
She didn’t write all the novels
