Started in 1851, Government Museum, Chennai, or Madras Museum is the second oldest museum in India after the Indian Museum in Kolkata.
The Museum comprises of six buildings and 46 galleries. It comprises a plenty of galleries that include a huge array of artefacts, palm-leaf manuscripts and other objects under the sections of Archaeology, Anthropology, Geology, Botany, Numismatics, Contemporary Art, Zoology and a Children's Museum. The museum includes archaeological and numismatic collections and has a vast collection of Roman antiquities, outside of Europe. Some of the edifices in the campus are over 100 years

4. CHILDREN'S MUSEUM
5. NATIONAL ART GALLERY
6. CONTEMPORARY ART GALLERY
Timing: 9.30 am to 5pm
Friday holiday
Ticket price :rs.15 for adult, rs. 10 for children
extra amount: rs. 200 for still camera
rs. 500 for video camera
