Thanks - I tend to do mine a bit differently than other folks (reading). Not intentionally, I just forget to talk while I'm playing and run direct because of dogs/living near a fire station.
So, crazy idea. Hunt down a Hello Kitty pickguard (or make one?) and paint one of your axes pink, to make a mini me Hello Kitty! That jack thing for you or a set up is a relatively easy fix but for the unhandy its a nightmare. In fairness to luthiers a workman is worth his wages, but a full detailed setup can be the cost of a basic budget guitar. Its werd because would you imagine selling a new car that needed a tune up, or being excited if it had custom scratches? You did say to say anythin right?
@@Greenjagsurf I've been described as someone that could break an anvil with a feather... part of my goal is to take away the mystery of the guitar & offer simple solutions. Like tonight I was playing the Mitchell MS100 - and kept finding my fingers catching on the fret ends. I remembered I hadn't put it on the table yet. Rather than curse the thing, I'll make it more playable by sanding down those edges. I also have my limits - I still haven't conquered problems with the nut & it's effects on tuning stability. But you're right about proper luthiers. The Am Strat cost me dearly for the last set up... But it let me know how far I have to go before I claim to know how to do one well. And I appreciate the analogy of selling a car without it being tuned up, but they make sure that you can move the seat and adjust the mirrors to your own personal preference. That's what a basic setup does for a guitar. That's why I'm learning how to do this stuff myself. Can you imagine going into a dealer every time you needed to adjust the climate control? That would get expensive very quickly.
