LOL. I see the appeal but I can't get into his content. I don't get into Tech9 Either and he is like the underground god of all gods in american hip hop at the subterranean level
0:52 has to be one of my favorite musical moments ever. Madlib brings in that bass at _exactly_ the right moment, when the listener has had enough time to get accustomed to just the drums and sample. Then all of a sudden it's complimented flawlessly by that lo-fi bass tone. Gives me chills and a stupid grin on my face every single time.
I think it hits so nicely because it comes in during the second bar of the measure, instead of the first where you'd expect it to. You also hear the second half of the bassline first. Then the next measure gives you the full phrase. It's like hearing the response to a question and only getting to hear what the question was after the fact. It works both rhythmically and thematically. Madlib doesn't miss.

“You die once when you stop breathing and your heart stops beating. You die a second time when someone says your name for the last time” Never forget the illest villain RIP MF DOOM
This video is fucking perfect. The surreal cinematography, the fact that the entire video seems to be in black and white, aside from one ominous red door, the haunting accordion matching DOOM’s deep, gravelly voice, the depressing lyrics, the sudden cuts, the woman dancing in the back, the man who made the sample for this song playing the accordion in the back, the way MF DOOM shakes his mic around, the shot of the camera moving back from the accordion player, and the shot of him raising his hands to the beat at the start, it all adds up to this video just having a feel you dont get with a lot of media, let alone a 2 minute long music video. What I’m saying is that not only is accordion a musical and lyrical masterpiece, but a visual one as well. This song, album, and MF DOOM as an artist were and are truly once in a lifetime. How DOOM and Madlib managed to make an album this perfect will never cease to amaze me. REST IN POWER MF DOOM 1971-2020
I balled harder than you can imagine, harder than even I thought I would. when I listened right after I found out it wasnt just teared eyes, it was a teared fucking room.
Got into DOOM in October of this year, it's absolutely terrifying to think that only about 2 weeks after I started really listening to his discography that he passed. I wish I could confidently believe that this whole thing is some elaborate prank from Dumile himself but it just ain't... From the first time I listened to a DOOM song I was immediately enveloped. Thanks for all the villainy :(

The melancholic tone makes me think of how I too will one day fade away. I conjure imagery of the final moments, replaying my life's memory one final time. DOOM FOREVER
Maybe somewhat. But I've always heard it as something rather esoteric and mysterious. Whatever sorrow is expressed is matched with meditative resignation. A deeper glimpse of something perhaps
This man was possibly the most influential rapper in the world. He didn’t rap about bitches and giving head. He rapped about being hungry, and food, and taking over the world RIP MF DOOM REMEMBER ALL CAPS
In a world where everyone flaunts they own self, DOOM cared deeply about sound and not image. Slowly but surely he created an army of DOOM bots, an army that cared above all else for the art of rhyming and poetry. He was the supervillain... You never knew where he was. The truth is that he was everywhere all at once. His physical body may has perished, but the Mask remains forever... He achieved his supervillainous goal in the end, seeding our minds with art itself. DOOM is an IDEA. An idea that has guided us through our journey, and now it is a part of all of us. It is in us forever. MF DOOM DIDNT DIE YALL, WE ARE MF DOOM! Having said all that, rest in peace to the man, Daniel Dumile, your manifestations will live forever... G o D School shooters? Anyway - I like his delivery. I'm not only a fan of Doom though- I'm versatile. So saying that Doom is for one type of person is like generalizing everyone who has a pickup. it is weird. You don't have to like it. Welcome to the ways of the world.
"Livin' off borrowed time, the clock tick faster" has got to be the coldest opening line in Hip-hop history.
There's an amazing sadness to this song, fitting for a legend looking back on his life, madlib a genius
big fan mr durden
I know what you ,like if wer walkin at 2 in the morning in the middle of nowhere and this song started play it would be scary af
after clout um no...

I find this song really inspires me to be myself.
Living of borrowed time the clock ticks faster... This hits different now

RIP to the man who got me into rap in the first place
Word
Truth
Lowkey facts. It hit me he fr passed and I cried for this man.
same here bro its crazy
Dead ass doom made me appreciate rap more, I started listening in like august or July 😔
I forget he is dead sometimes. I used have panic attacks multiple times a day. This song got me through them so many times. RIP DOOM. You with your son and brother now. Maybe in Heaven you and Nujabes can make a record for when I get there some day.
They're both composing a masterpiece in the Elysian Fields with Orpheus
The beat is happy and sad at the same time idk
Facts
This beat and song is just my happy place
Word. At the end of the day its just dope. Rhymes like dimes
I feel like it's meant to be nostalgic
saudade bro
RIP MF DOOM
“Livin off borrowed time, the clock tick faster”
“You die once when you stop breathing and your heart stops beating. You die a second time when someone says your name for the last time”
Never forget the illest villain
RIP MF DOOM
And you die a third time when the people who knowingly / unknowingly were influenced by you dissapear aswell.
@A Z Yeah a while ago now.
@A Z been dead for a while bud
@AZ-zn9lgYes, been gone for a little time now. We still out here missing the illest villain, though. #ripMFDOOM 🙏
@AZ-zn9lg 3 years on Halloween
I’m actually crying rn... Rest In Peace Daniel Dumile... you saved so many of us from that dark hole
Me too.... bless him... he is with his son and brother finally in peace
Me too man wtf is 2021 becoming
Me too bro me too
It feels surreal... 2020 truly is something...
R.I.P legend
He's in another place now, with all the Cheetos, fritos and doritos he wants
This made me smile
Don't forget he likes Ice Cream.
and Edible Rappers! RIP to the greatest.
big facts along with his son and his brother and guru and dilla and big L and the list goes on bro
he returned to the dirt, like the rest of us will
MCU when Dr. Doom is finally reintroduced, I'd love it if MF Doom was playing in the background somewhere tying it together.
Celebrity deaths usually don't hit me that hard. But I've been sitting here in tears for an hour listening to DOOM. Rest in peace to a legend.
Same was in tears for 2 hours listening to his music
All caps when you spell the man's name. RIP.
It's already bad news if you realize somebody will be dying someday.
Because you become aware sadly death is in real life too.
I balled harder than you can imagine, harder than even I thought I would. when I listened right after I found out it wasnt just teared eyes, it was a teared fucking room.
I'm just now able to even listen to him again.
Shit hit hard bro.
Thanks for all the villainy :(
My exact story, he got me through a weird semester and I was completely encapsulated with his persona, music, and genius. Although I am not a long time fan, I will never forget this legend the impact his music has had on me. Rest in Power.
thats fucked up. welcome to the metalface family
This is kinda the beauty of the internet. I been listening to DOOM since 02 but people can just get up to speed in a minute now and be blessed. I'm glad you found your way here Yalda.
its your fault
MF DOOM has one of the most distinctive flow and vocals in the whole rap industry.... Hard to get into at first but once you get used to it it is one of the most rewarding things ever
so glad i forced myself to listen to his shit when i was 14 cos i thought it was cool, turns out it IS fucking cool and i learned more from this metal face stranger than i ever did at school.
Hard to get into? Seems like you listen to him just to say you listen to him. FOH.
What's wrong with you? I was complimenting his talent and you're just being a fuckboi just for the hell of it. Ive been listening to him for a long time. This is me just being honest. Loser.
I wasn't feeling DOOM when I first heard him for a while but when I found out he was part of a childhood favourite I started to listen more and more and I am really enjoying him.
MrHypnosiz Gorillaz?
one of the hardest, smoothest, darkest, profound, simplest and think-making beats and lyrics of all times...RIP MASTERVILLAIN

Because he's the MF'n Super Villain

RIP Doom, what a terrible way to end 2020, never cried over a famous persons passing but this man got me through the worst times.

An MF DOOM Greatest Hits album was just released. It features every song he ever made.
I've only heard the first song so far cus I can't stop hitting repeat
1) Freudian - The accordion player (accordionist) on this song
2) A Freudian slip, also called parapraxis, is an error in speech, memory, or physical action that occurs due to the interference of an unconscious subdued wish or internal train of thought.
Slip like Freudian, your 1st and last step to play yourself like accordion...
Thank you
yess yess the accordion actually plays itself
Ah, fellow philosophy buff! 👋
But the Accordionist on this song is Daedalus (who also happens to be the accordion player in the music video).
DOOM is a fucking genius
DOOM by Sanford Greene and Jonathan Hickman starts with "living on borrowed time the clock ticks faster". Peak tribute.
2020 just ended in the worst way possible. RIP Doom

Rest In Peace one of the greatest rappers of all time.
There will NEVER be someone like MF DOOM
I hate me a lot for not known MF DOOM before he died
What a underground legend
I never was so hooked about a rapper until now
"Madvillainy" is a awesome album, but in special this song has something, something sad, something amazing, something nostalgic, something... IDK what has this song
I feel like I want to die right now... But with a smile in my face.
RIP sweet legend, thanks for gift to us amazing lyrics and amazing projects
The melancholic tone makes me think of how I too will one day fade away. I conjure imagery of the final moments, replaying my life's memory one final time. DOOM FOREVER
Was never underground
Very late but that is spot on. Don’t know What it it with This beat but it hits so hard idk why
This song feels so hopeless and dead. It’s like understanding that there’s nothing left to do. It’s a banger, but it’s so sorrowful.
DOOM is skilled in destruction as well as building after all
that's why i didn't listen to the song even though i loved it lmao
That's life...
Existentialism is a thing my friend.
Maybe somewhat. But I've always heard it as something rather esoteric and mysterious. Whatever sorrow is expressed is matched with meditative resignation. A deeper glimpse of something perhaps
Living off borrowed time, the clock ticks faster. RIP GOAT 🕊️
Anyone else just in complete shock? What the actual fuck
Yeah bro I’m fucking crying hardcore
@@user-xu3wj1kf9f it hurts man
Really upset. His music's been my companion since I was 15
Well guess that's how live goes.. Just be thankful for all the greatness he shared with us (:
I think I’m even more in shock that he died 2 months before everyone found out.
This man was possibly the most influential rapper in the world. He didn’t rap about bitches and giving head. He rapped about being hungry, and food, and taking over the world
RIP MF DOOM
REMEMBER ALL CAPS
I mean... he did rap about bitches....
But he was a great rapper for sure
Nah bro he rapped about behing a pimp, but other parts are true
this is what earl sweatshirt thought east would sound like
lmao

Fact
MF Doom is what Earl Sweatshirt hopes and prays to be one day.

That little hum at 1:36 I could listen to that for hours
Gucci Monster that’s legit my favorite part lmfao makes the whole song 10x better
Thats the start of the next song, its called Meat Grinder and its really good.
this is the realest comment facts on facts on facts
wtffff i've never noticed that
In a world where everyone flaunts they own self, DOOM cared deeply about sound and not image.
He rests easy in the land of milk and honey with the swirls where reckless naked girls get necklaces of pearls...
hard
well said
I totally agree with you word by word, well said brother
Kinda teared up reading this...thank you for this. ❤ MFDOOM FOREVER.
heaven must be fuckin bumping, I can't wait to pass on.
you got what dudes like pun, big L, Steez, Dilla, Nujabes, like holy shit
Rest in Power DOOM, the uncrowned king of rap, the clever nerd, the best MC with no chain you've ever heard
Imagine if Marvel decides to make a movie with Vic DOOM and gets MF DOOM for an appearance. Would be so sick.
If you listen to some of dooms lyrics his character is anti corporate, it would be a betrayal of character. I can promise you it won’t happen
@@regfeg9855 that honestly doesnt matter anyways , DOOM Is so underground that if Marvel makes a movie and put him in there , 95% of the people that watch it would have no idea of who he is

ive been listening to this song for 13 years now.
there is no one like DOOM and there never will be.
May he and his sons rest in peace.
the true villian we all loved.
Since his passing MF DOOM’s abstract rhymes make even more sense now. I understood them before but it’s as if the lyrics are less murky.
Lyrics: Livin' off borrowed time, the clock tick faster
That'd be the hour they knock the slick blaster
Dick Dastardly and Muttley with sick laughter
A gun fight and they come to cut the mixmaster
I-C-E cold, nice to be old
Y2G steed twice to threefold
He sold scrolls, lo and behold
Know who's the illest ever like the greatest story told
Keep your glory, gold and glitter
For have half of his niggaz'll take him out the picture
The other half is rich and don't mean sh*t-ta
Villain a mixture between both with a twist of liquor
Chase it with more beer, taste it like truth or dare
When he have the mic it's like the place get like: 'Ah yeah!'
It's like they know what's 'bout to happen
Just keep ya eye out, like aye, aye cap'n
Is he still a fly guy clappin' if nobody ain't hear it
And can they testify from inner spirit (no)
In living, the true gods
Givin' y'all nothing but the lick like two broads
Got more lyrics than the church got 'Ooh Lords'
And he hold the mic and your attention like two swords
Or even one with two blades on it
Hey you, don't touch the mic like it's AIDS on it
It's like the end to the means
F*cked type of message that sends to the fiends
That's why he brings his own needles
And get more cheese than Doritos, Cheetos or Fritos
Slip like Freudian
Your first and last step to playin' yourself like accordion
When he at the mic you don't go next
Even pussy cats like why hoes need Kotex
Exercise index won't need Bowflex
And won't take the one with no skinny legs like Joe Tex
Doom ain’t a easy read.
DOOM wasn't just a mask.
He was absolute creativity, the proof that rap music could be one of the best art forms in the world, the shaper of today's hip hop scene.
Thank you for everything.
MAY THE ALL BE WITH YOU, SUPERVILLAIN.
It still hurts that he’s gone
He’s watching down on us. If you pray to him and call to him he will hear you.
