It's been a long time since i re-tied brake handles, but i seem to remember that you need to be sure that you have enough slack in the brake lines so that when you fully engage the speed bar the lines don't pull down the trailing edge.
Oh man, I didn't realize you were going through that. I am up in air on Ohio still. But plan to go to the Easy Pace fly-in 2 hrs away Sep 14-18. But would love to get together soon.
Sure. No worries. I was a little surprised that I’m just 2 miles per hour faster on this wing than the spyder 24 m. I wonder if I should test again sometime to confirm. Maybe I should’ve listened to Tucker and gone with the 20m sirocco. Ha
Watch it with those line lengths. Sirocco3 wants like 12-18" of bow in the brake lines at full fast trims + full bar. If you're shortening those you could be asking for trouble.
I'm planning on doing training this winter. Of course it'll be a long time before I consider tieing in tip steering. Did you make a mark where they were originally tied in to the tip steer toggle? I'm wondering why they ended up so short right away?
I’ve been watching your videos and I know I can trust your opinion. I would like to buy my next wing. Sirocco 3 VS speedster 3 both 24 M? Which one should I buy ?
I am not an expert, but my thought process is that a speedster would be better if you often takeoff from a rugged terrain such as rocks and dirt because the Material used in the speedster is more durable. If you takeoff from grass as I often do, you may enjoy the easy inflation of the lightweight material in the sirocco.
Yes, I did consider the 20m. I think many people would have chosen the 20m instead because it would be fast, and dynamic and fun. But I took the conservative approach on this wing and went with 22m. If I feel like selling my 22m used and in good condition in 18 months, then I may move to the 20m.
Hi Ben, I also have Sirocco 3 22. Don’t you have any problem with the height of the toggles in fully trimmed out configuration. I am 5’8” tall and if I release the trimmers fully out I cannot reach the brake toggle (and the attached tip stearing). Therefore, although I liked very much the 2d stearing, I returned to the oroginal configuration.
Thanks for the note. I have not had an issue in reaching the toggles (or tip steering lines) when fully trimmed out. I wonder if my reach is impacted by my specific frame/harness configuration.
Another great video. Thx. BTW, it'd be great if you could blend right and left channels for your audio when it doesn't record in stereo. I often watch You Tube with just one earpiece and miss some of the audio you're trying to have us hear. Thx! (@ 2:08 and other places, one channel was dead.)
Hey Ben, I'm eyeing the speedster 3 . Planned on keeping my roadster, same as spyder and Sirocco but not lightweight, do you feel the Sirocco is a good one wing and there wouldn't be conditions where you would rather fly the spider? Though about this after you mentioned selling your spider..
Hey Mike, honestly, I have been flying my Spyder quite often because I did not want to get the new wing wet, or I did not want to be up in spicy air on a hotter wing. But I feel like I will get to the point where I will feel very comfortable on the sirocco in all conditions, and it will naturally become my wing of choice. I already feel more 'in control' especially when turning or flaring.
I hear ya. Part of my plan here, is to sell the spyder while it has a lot of good useful life for its next owner. Partially offset the cost of sirocco.
@@tango_sierra8608 yup. Also, I saw your note earlier about the spyder. I was fortunate to have a couple experienced guys help me tie in the tip steering for the first time on that wing. So I was a little more comfortable doing it the second time on this wing by myself.

Thank you. Yes, I haven’t tested with speed bar yet.
Nice methodical approach to changing line lengths. We need to have you down to fly soon. Eyeing Trenton, but still recovering from Covid.

Thank you so much for speed test!! That's what I was looking for. Great content

Nice video Ben, thanks!
Thanks, Ben. You are probably right, it's because of the configuration.

Thank you! I have not tested anything with speedbar yet but I will carefully review soon.

I tied 2d too, also put 6” long tube on the tip lines so I have more places to grab and pull wing tip freely.
Good idea. I'll have to think about that too.
Ben, Thanks for the video. I’m about the same all-in weight and am deciding between the 20 or 22m. Did you try or consider the 20 ?

2d tied in made a big difference my wing. I will never go back!

Okay, I hadn’t considered that. I will look into it.

@@ParamotorNC Gotcha.. I was hoping that would be the case as well for me.
@@ParamotorNC I still need to make my way to your area and fly with you sometime.

What type of knot?
I used this one, although it may not be the most common choice; ruclips.net/video/tOwi2nEyCRg/видео.html
