The headlight removal on this platform is just 😚👌
and like, many of the other fixable things are just insanely accessible
I honestly feel like the P1 volvos are underrated in their DIY and tunability.

Top Vid. Thanks - I Echo what people have said - how nice of manufacturers to think of making light cluster simple to remove, and even better the reflectors removable. In my case, (a 2004 car, so to be expected) the chrome had completely burnt off the reflector and this was the reason for poor lights. I put some aluminium foil tape over the burnt areas, and it's made a massive difference to the light output, much better! Not as good I'm sure as new fully chromed ones, but for anyone on a budget, a good cheap fix.

Thank you for the compliment and sharing your experience! Definitely beats having to buy new assemblies which would be much more pricey.

Can I use LEDs for for 05 s40 without upgrading any electrical? Halogen or LEDs?

I had to tear down my headlights completely and rebuild the wiring harness. The insulator was beginning to crumble away, leaving bare copper exposed. One of my reflectors was delaminated as well. I installed LEDs and also threw halos around the projectors. It was a VAST IMPROVEMENT.

Wow, sad to hear even the simple stuff doesn't last anymore. Thankfully my wiring was still good, but you're not the first to experience failing insulation on the wiring. I heard Ford was using some type of soy base on the wiring insulation, makes me wonder if Volvo had the same thing.

do you know the kind of bulbs that's needed for a C70 2012 model? my dipped beam bulb needs changing. All the websites said I need a H7 bulb, bought one but it was the wrong fit...

Helpful video, thanks. Although The label of the adjusting mechanisms for up/down and right/left should be the other way around. Besides they do jam with the time and because of poor design are easy to break! Spray them with silicon lubricants and be gentle turning them.

The labels of the up/down and left/right are backwards. The easy one to see near the removable pin nearer to the back of the light is the horizontal L/R adjustment and the harder one to see and find down low in the front of the headlight is the vertical or up/down adjustment.

Great video. The right light was as simple as you've shown however I can't access one of the screws on the left hand headlight. There's some mechanism in the way and not sure about removing / moving this mechanism.

Good morning I have a 2007 s40 and I would like to know if it has ballasts and where they are...?

Depends on what your vehicle was ordered with new. They would be on the rear of the headlight assembly as far as I know.

My lights are all very lightly flickering in the car and outside (headlights and interior lights both dash and overhead) I have no idea what this could be. I have a 2011 S40R….would you possibly know? Thnx

How to you remove the projector from the other headlight that has the electric motor in the way of the screw?

    • @christopherjz
      @christopherjz 4 года назад

@@josip9848 nope, i think you have to remove the sealing and go in from the front. A job i'm not willing to do 😞

Give the projector a solid push to disconnect the assembly from the adjuster. Once disconnected, it will be easy to swivel slightly to allow the 3rd pesky screw to be removed

Adjust the beam position till it sticks out them you can get at it at an angle.
I just did this and gentle force is required but it worked on both headlights.

I solved this problem by using a soldering iron to melt a semi-circular recess into the lip of plastic surrounding the motor housing (I think, mine has an empty housing). See if that might work for you.

I would have thought it was a bum alternator.
