That clip at 1:38 showing it standing on the ground aimed at the wheel was brilliant. Never thought about using it for that because I didn't know it could do that and no one else had shown it like that. Great for doing brakes without having a glaring hot spot from most of the other work lights out there. Thanks for showing that!

That flex action seems to be a solid benefit. I can dig it.

I’m rocking Dewalt for my 20v tools and Milwaukee for the 12v.

In response to the title question:
I know no more after watching this than I did before.
I've got both battery lines, I'd go Dewalt - it folds and would fit in most toolbags/boxes, it looks more sturdy/durable.
I don't really see the point in using the Milwaukee 12v as a removable stick lamp, it is too long and slender and the hook looks like an afterthought, I feel like I would break it, it also can't be indexed or folded so I can't direct the light, it is a flood light, they both are thats what they're for.
Its worth testing how long the lights actually remain in high and whether the lumen output is accurate, most lights tend to dip down over time both as battery voltage decreases and as a thermal protection (bright lights get hot.)
As for low, in my opinion, 600lum compared to 800lum is pretty important, A floodlight needs every lumen it can get cause its spreading it out more, if I have to squint its a fail.
Also the Dewalt can have 1 light switched off, rotated and folded which means I can get creative.

Dewalt way more versatile. The flex in the light doesnt affect it in any way. Even just starting out the fact that you can do 12 or 20v makes it worth it.. and its brighter… and it’s cheaper

I have the m12 and love it. But man it takes up a lot of room. Dewalt would definitely be more practical for use as an all around work light… ESPECIALLY since both of the hooks rotate independently from each other, making it super easy to hang or stand almost anywhere. And the runtime is greatly increased by being able to choose different lighting modes. Might just have to sell my Milwaukee!

Well sounds like someone likes star wars and wants a lightsaber because if your using that Milwaukee for anything more than a hood light I would not want to be carrying it around. At least the DeWalt you can fold and use for many other projects. Plus having the option of both lines of batteries is a no brainer. If your in the Milwaukee platform yes go for the Milwaukee it's a better option. But if your actually looking at what ones better it's the DeWalt

Kinda funny that you guys leaned so hard on the Red scales and yet the comments saw right through it, getting much more excited for the DeWALT. Even once this devolved into the usual “buy what you already have batteries for” discussion (no duh) you guys suddenly stopped considering how DeWALT has the edge for new customers by supporting TWO battery platforms. It may not change much for those already settled on M12 or M18, but it could still tip the scales. If I had M12 but was considering M18 I might go with 20V Max instead. If I was on M18 but ended up with an unloved 12V Max kit at some point I just might buy this light… and consider more DeWALT 12V tools rather than leaving one orphaned in the back of the tool drawer.
I think it was very smart of DeWALT. The Craftsman and Mac Tools versions do not support V12/12V and aren’t as bright, though the motion sensor on the MCL045 seems like a good trade (can’t forget and leave it on overnight; comes back on when you return) but it’s only 1350 lumens compared to 1700 and it’s hard to justify double the price… not even with the auxiliary flashlight it includes.

Brighter, foldable, 2 battery options, cheaper, hefty, and more uses, so I think I would lean toward DeWalt. But guessing this would be an instance where whichever was purchased you would be happy.

I started with the old 12max Dewalt platform....they abandoned it plus their batteries cases/tools broke a lot. I switched to Milwaukee for the M12 ratchet (OG) it was over! It quickly made me a faster, less tired at the end of the day. I invested in the OG M12 impact & hammerdrill combo after that & sold my Dewalt stuff except for the 12v Max temperature gun. I purchased the M12 underhood light & it hasn't failed me right. I also added a level of professionalism that my customers appreciate.

I JUST CAN'T GIVE UP THE RUN TIME OF A 20V 10AH ON A LAMP LIKE THIS, SINCE I PLAN TO USE THIS LAMP FOR OTHER PURPOSES AS WELL AS SOME AUTOMOTIVE
