I also run gengar ex. I generally don't have an issue with energy acceleration. Between Giovanni charisma, dark patch, earth vessel and Janine's secret art i can get energy where I need it. I use pechurant ex ability for that free switch which takes off the poison and munkidori with radiant alakazam to dump 50 pokemon damage around where I need it. They start attaching energies and tack on another 20-40dmg from gnawing curse. Use boss' order and binding mochi I one shot most things. i find, much like you said, is getting him evolved quick enough. I used to run hammers but got rid of them for more consistency elsewhere

Gengar is my favorite and i have started playing the TCG for the first time. Building this deck now and i know its not meta but the pecharunt and fezandipiti really are key for this. Also like you said earthen vessel. Im working on a few tweaks too.
Build and battles are so handy too. I think I pulled one Gengar ex. I had to buy four more to build a deck and keep one in my collection. Thankfully he’s not really played so it was affordable.
What would you think about using Dusknoirs instead munkidori and sableye? 1 double double turbo energy for pidgeot EX to use the attack that does 120 damage and removes stadium thats in play, which would be useful against some opponents 🤔
Dusknoir or dusclops would help even prize maps too. But I guess it’s what type of play do I want to commit. Faster play or slow burn and tank. I think the double turbo might be fun for stadium discard. That or I run more stadiums 🤔

Yeah the lack of pecharunt in my game was noticeable. I’ll consider your strategies too when altering my deck!

Yes!! I did some more play testing with Gengar too, he can really mess up someone’s day even more with those cards.
I bought a temporal forces b&b box hoping to get gengar ex, i didnt but i got a good deck

Gengar did his job! I'm looking forward to playing him more throughout the season. I hope the next sets can improve the viability.
