Great review!♥️ The iPhone's Magnifier app already offers many of these features, but I have to say, I admire the user-friendliness of the Optoro Video Magnifier. Still, it makes me wonder if the price is justified.
Nice review Sam! I’m glad these companies are considering making accessories for mobile devices. I’ve been using the Magnifier app that comes standard on iPhones along with a $10 stand on Amazon with my students for a while. I posted a short on my channel about it recently. Of course it has its limitations, but it is way more affordable for parents. Either way this is a very nice device and I’m happy these companies have finally decided to invest in producing products for mobile device use.
I have 2 magnification apps on my Android phone WeZoom and another thats just called Magnify. I also use 2 video magnifiers Eschenbach SmartLux and Zoomax Snow. I also have a Looky 10 video magnifier but it needs to be repaired. Great video of Optaro Sam
hey there Sam, love your content. do your microphone audio seems to be picking a bit. maybe consider lowering the gain by about three decibels or so. also hoping and praying for a Sony HX99RNV review
Great video Sam. Perhaps a prickly mlview but I'm wondering what this died better then a good magnifier app. 700 is a high price and I'm unsure if the offering is worth it Vs even paid apps, especially as i wonder how much better the camera is then the one on modern phones. Love the content.
It won’t it would be cool is they actually made that for the iPad as well because it would make a wonderful desktop digital magnifier as well should I keep the same hardware but just make it compatible with the iPad as well
Yes!!! I would love to use my iPad for reading a book or a comic but it's hard because of how the camera is on the device, and I've yet to find a good case or desktop iPad stand for reading magnifier use.
I'm genuinely trying to understand the benifit of this. I've been using my iPhone as a video magnifier for years - ever since the iPhone 6 plus. I needed video magnifiers for my job. I have yet to come across something that works er than the iPhone I already own. There are plenty of apps which specialize in magnification, and honestly most of them are even irrelevant now ever since Apple released its own magnifier app, which as of IOS 18 has gotten even better with the immersive reader feature. I'm very curious what the benifits of using this thing over what's already built in to the phone would be. That's actually how I feel about most of these products. Envision glassses, that big headset that holds your phone in it. Other than being hands free, what's the point? Maybe it's because the likes of me could never aford tha singgle device for thousands of dollars, but I'd love to understand the benifit of this.
@@johnclaybaugh9536 i never said anything about an update within the same day. I said he might know something about a possible android release. Wow, do people not read anymore.
No, no idea if they're coming out with an Android version in the future. Being an Android lover myself, I definitely would have mentioned that in the video.
Immediate reactions: wish there was a hinge-out handle option, if they published the published 3D printing files for the case others could make custom versions for other phones - think how that would expand the market, especially for an Android version - and finally, you have to register with the web site to see prices. This makes me think the company is more interested in marketing than its customers, which makes me less interested in them. Does make me more interested in a fully open source project to do thethe same job. Accessibility isn't if you can't afford it.
Yeah. There are some 3-D printed magnifier stand options online for free. It’s not as intricate as this. And I see that they integrate this stand with their software. Some time ago, I bought a $10 stand on Amazon and used the Magnifier app on Apple and got similar results. $700 is very steep.
How much is the device? It requires you to sign into the webpage to get the price. Also, why is this better than just using a dedicated app on the phone, like the Rebokeh app?
If you watch to the end, I talk about the price being around $700. It's better than simply using an app because you have a camera in the center of the phone and a built in stand
Thanks, I just got the Eschenbach Smartlux 5 inch. It's not as good as I thought it would be. It has a LOT of negatives. The three magnifier apps on my phone work about as well.

After reading most of your post, I thought that I had written it. I also use the HWExplore app.
Not to be that guy, but 95% of this device devices functionalities you can do with the built-in iPhone magnifier
That's true, but this is also a convenient stand for the phone to sit on and it uses the magnifier's camera for a better angle.

Thanks, I did lower the gain after recording these clips. Sonny's not returning my calls, lol!

Love the content.
Thanks for the video! I curiosity, what VoiceOver personality are you using? It sounds different than the one I use, and I like yours better.
I'm using one of the new Siri voices, voice number 4
@ i'll give it a try. Thanks for answering my question! I love the content!
Really cool device

Yes I would like to see it for ,my iPad Pro , screen on iPhone is to small for ,u vision.
Is this also for distant viewing?
Distance viewing when handheld but not on the desk.
Good stuff Sam!

Is it available for Android devices?
If you listen to the video, it is only available for iPhone 12 and above. So, no, it's not available for Android.
@davidbendall7919 i did, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have information about a possible android release.
An update within the same day? During the weekend even? That's extremely unlikely. Sam makes good videos. He wouldn't leave out information.

I want this but for iPad
That would slightly justify the price of it better. I agree.

The three magnifier apps on my phone work about as well.
Do they have future plans to make this available for Android users?
Not sure
For so many reasons I hate this. Why not just make it a magsafe accessory? Also why not just make this an app for the Iphone?
How dose anymore afford this when your on fixed income
