  • This week, we played through the ninth adventure in the Candlekeep Mysteries: Lore of Lurue as a one-on-one, one-shot adventure!
Here we share three pieces of advice based on the lessons that we learned from our experience. These are only our opinions from running the adventure - and we’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!

Ran the story last Saturday. I wrote up the opening theme from Brady Bunch and Star Trek and had one player read it with "Turn the page" as clue that they were going to be stuck in a story. It did give them a clue on how to play to the encounters.

That’s a cool idea! I think this adventure definitely benefits from a little extra clue-ing in of the PCs.

I suggest you list the 3 lessons graphically. The two talking heads are interesting but only so interesting. I will be running this one this weekend. And you are right it is a railroad.

Thanks for your Feedback Roger, Ben and I totally agree and are looking at different ways through editing or writing to make sure we are engaging: we both agree having some more visuals and clean transitions would help to make sure we are providing the level of quality that we strive for! As for the adventure: yeah as written it can't do much at all except move the PCs to the next piece of the narrative. It was fun all the same - and hey, that's what DnD is all about! We hope these 3 tips helped! Let us know how it goes this weekend, Good luck!
