My dad fence in our porch with chicken wire. Then he planted morning glory, so it climbed the fence. You sit on the porch in the afternoon and stay relatively cool in the hot summer.
Meredith, you can always turn the old fridge into a worm farm, throw all compostable garbage in it, Add dirt and leaves and stir until compostable material is smelly, then buy a dozen night crawlers add stand back, just a thought……..❤️💕💕🔥😍💕

Hello there. You should water the plants when the sun as gone down. Don't water in direct sunlight it discolours the leaves on some plants. Get some garden compose to improve the soil. Maybe a bit of potash. A bit of ash from the wood burner. It all improves the soil.
Curious to why the top soil wasn't removed before building the fence? We struggle so bad with our arena being so muddy and having to add dump truck loads of sand every year. You will love having the arena at your home.
I have a suggestion for your plants. Go to a greenhouse garden center and purchase the soil that they use. ( I get 25 lb bags) Dig where you want to plant those plants and fill it in with the bagged soil and plant in that. After a couple of seasons you will have all good soil in that area.
You can still ride in the arena. It'll make a good grazing paddock while you're waiting to add the sand. It looks awesome. Seems there's a lot of project's that seem to take 10 yrs to get finished 😂😅 I have a small holding pen that I need to finish, need more wiring & wood. Then at some point have to start on the other 2 side's & we've got a yard to fence 2 pastures to fence, vehicles to work on & the list goes on & on. 😂😅
Summer is coming on so it’s just an idea,But if you have a plug in the barn put that fridge out there and put some drinks or water in it where it would be handy!Just a idea

Have you ever dug deep into the ground where you say everything dies? We had a spot like that and we dug pretty deep and my goodness, we found cans, all kind of trash from who knows how long ago it was thrown in. We got it out and added some clean dirt (is that an oxymoron) 😂 🤷🏻♀️and mulch and it sure made a difference. Your flowers are looking so pretty. I believe gardenias like acidic soil. We have a couple that are pretty big, well one is the other got whacked by my husband because he thought it was dead but it’s growing back. They’re one of my all time favorites. I must say though my husband has a green thumb just like his mother and grandmother. Have a wonderful week and I hope y’all get some riding in. 🏇

I’m not positive but I thought I heard somewhere sometime mulch can cause problems in the garden. I think it has something to do with as the mulch breaks down it leaches something into the soil that throws off the balance that plants need? Maybe skip the mulch this year and see if they do better!
You may have a hotspot in your area where you are planting your perennials it may be the female urine from the dogs that is usually the situation but you may just have some bad soil in that area did you amend heavily or plant the plants and amendments instead of backfilling the plant with native soil
I would tell your friend that there is no such thing as a mini Highland cow. These cows are usually cross bred with dexter cattle or Hereford cattle that can carry the dwarf gene, the second way and very inhumane way is having the Highland calf on a cow that has very little milk or bottle feed then just enough so they live and stunts their growth. Either way these cattle should not command such a high price as its unethical as its not a full Highland cow or cruel due to the miss management of the feeding of the calf

Sprinkle some 10-10-10 fertilizer every Spring. Mine takeoff every year and do great every year.
