It’s deeper than that bro. It was a miscommunication, and neither were at fault. She isn’t a mind reader, from her perspective this guy she had feelings for and made a move on her after they are naked and in bed couldn’t get it up, and then sank into silence and like shame and self pity because ofc for him it wasn’t about her all she thought was that it was because he wasn’t into her, and so to save face she said what she said. She didn’t know he spent the night drinking and wallowing in embarrassment and misery about it, and despite that miscommunication she still went to again talk and see him the next morning, when again from her perspective she comes across him saying everything that essentially reaffirmed the belief she had the night before…and ofc she again isn’t an omniscient mind reader, she didn’t know that was him drunk, saving face himself and so it was just another miscommunication. But even after that, she again went and sought him out despite her own perspective on everything and it was only then, after he was already gone that Elise told her it was ED and that it was too late and he was already gone, and she spent years regretting that. Another fun fact. Sara wasn't even in the web novel (to be fair, the entire Mid-Level Adventurer Arc wasn't in the web novel). Originally, there was a time skip after Eris left Rudeus, going straight to the University Arc.
When it comes to their relationship (in the anime at least), I think that they both messed up... it makes sense that Sara wasn't mature enough since she was something like 15 at the time. Rudeus was hurt and needed more time to learn to know her and feel comfortable with her, and she didn't see that and acted hurtful to him because she was also hurt by him not getting it up. But you have to consider that she didn't know about his ED either. Rudeus could have had a talk with her to explain his situation and clear up the missunderstanding and they could have worked thing up, but he insulted her and disrespected her in a drunken stuper while with Sol ending the possibility of conversation right then and there... so they both acted immature and they both fucked up, and I kind of like that. It's nice to see teens acting like teens and having this kind of stupid drama that could get solved if they just talked to each other. It feels real and beleavable in a way.

But even after that, she again went and sought him out despite her own perspective on everything and it was only then, after he was already gone that Elise told her it was ED and that it was too late and he was already gone, and she spent years regretting that. Its different with Sylphiette, or Roxy, or if it was Eris, those were all people who had deep bonds with Rudy, and knew him from childhood, and who both sides were willing to speak plainly what they were thinking

Mushoku Tensei is just a sad story from the beginning till the end with little hints of happiness. I just wonder how many intrusive thoughts of the author were added in the light novel....
Roxy and Sylphie are still alive and will play a role in the main story that the author was planning. (Remember, Mushoku Tensei is just the beginning of what he plans to be an epic.)

Another fun fact. Sara wasn't even in the web novel (to be fair, the entire Mid-Level Adventurer Arc wasn't in the web novel). Originally, there was a time skip after Eris left Rudeus, going straight to the University Arc.
When it comes to their relationship (in the anime at least), I think that they both messed up... it makes sense that Sara wasn't mature enough since she was something like 15 at the time. Rudeus was hurt and needed more time to learn to know her and feel comfortable with her, and she didn't see that and acted hurtful to him because she was also hurt by him not getting it up. But you have to consider that she didn't know about his ED either. Rudeus could have had a talk with her to explain his situation and clear up the missunderstanding and they could have worked thing up, but he insulted her and disrespected her in a drunken stuper while with Sol ending the possibility of conversation right then and there... so they both acted immature and they both fucked up, and I kind of like that. It's nice to see teens acting like teens and having this kind of stupid drama that could get solved if they just talked to each other. It feels real and beleavable in a way.

The reason is actually more simple imo, Mushoku Tensei already popular as web novel in syosetu, and Sara is added character for Light novel serialization, I think author or editor just want to makeit safe, so not adding more wife in Light novel.
