This Airport had very less traffic. You can go about the runway every time. In the middle from the airport is a little road where all people, hikers and animal transpotation can go. When arrives a aircraft, a man with a whistle stand on edge and warns all people that a airplane arrives, and all people must to leave this place. And this is the whistle what you can hear in my video.
In 2009 I became sick on a trek to EBC. I was able to make it to Syangboche airstrip but no further. I chartered a Tara Air plane to come and transport me to Lukla, cost $400. Over night we had about 4 inches of snow. Tara said they could only land if there was a 9 meter area clear of snow. Needless to say I had to wait at the hotel for two days. Thank goodness we had plenty of Yak dung. It was an adventure.
My last Vietnam in-country this very hot acft was a favorite member w/the friendly Air-America group from the central highlands up thru Cambodia and Laos swinging around and down the mountain valleys as like shaking hands w/an old friend. -- This village is approx 185 miles EES of Nepal, getting deep into the Himalaya Mountains.
Mountain climbers actually land at Lukla lower down and ascend towards Syangboche by road, in order to give themselves enough time to acclimatise to the altitude. The people who fly directly into Syangboche are mostly tourists not planning to trek much higher.
ich meinte natuerlich "Einmotorig" in meinem comment; nettes video auch weil es keinen Kommentar hat. Ich flog im Fruehling 1998 da rein und raus, war toll.

I noticed the same thing. I assume there's only one way to land and one way to take off because there's such a slope to the runway. That is some serious precision flying...the damn runway looks like a dirt road on a remote farm, not exactly a smooth rollout on landing or takeoff. This is flying at its' most native.
Try landing a 737/200 on a 3900 foot runway with water at each end like the great pilots at Alaska Airlines did in Dutch Harbor for years. On a rough day you may need a change of shorts.
Many people might know this if they are already watching this video, but if you don't this airport is just shy of 18 miles south of Mt. Everest.
Looks like 4 BFT tailwind. These pilots are great!
Love these offbeat small airfields, thank you to the people who upload these interesting videos of the take offs and landings.
Thanks for posting this. Scenery, airplanes, great audio, more scenery, and some very thin air for the take off. Wow.

That is some skillful , nerves of steel, flying
Most natural,beautiful,challenging airport,i love it
one of the most beautiful airports in the world!
I think so.
It is very turistic because of its mountains, the approach though cant be very comfortable
The sign at the beginning of the video say airpot not airport.
Flew out of here in 1993, when we got airborne the pilot literally handed me the controls and let me have a go!

HEISOUR GRANDSON what an experience you had.
One of very few take off's in the world where after take off you lose altitude
No, actually you reach 2,000 feet upon take off! 😄😄😄
Reminds me of our sister island Saba in the Caribbean. Runway only 950 meters long.

You don't have to be crazy to land at this airport...but it helps.
When I saw this airport it brings back memories.
Beautiful location , different runway

Proud STOL ( Short Take Off and Landing ) services of Nepal. Hope it has been now pitched , and well managed . Keep safe and safety…please.
Not yet. It's still same and airport is now closed. It's used by chopper ❤
Absolutely fantastic! Thanks.
The Pilatus pc-6 landed like a pro there
Nice
Amazing the skill of some pilots👍

"El Alto" International Airport near La Paz, Bolivia , is 4000 metrs high.
You gotta love this kind of flying.
Beautiful scenery, nice landing, now can you direct me to the Ritz-Carlton. I guess only mountain climbers come here.

So nice view
hey super, vielen Dank fürs upload!!
nix zu danken gerne :)
I love this airport :-)
Thanks for this video, lumbersch.
what a real PRO landing there.
Only the brave can fly here. Single engine failure means little hope of seeing your loved ones again.
That's true.
Beautiful Nepal
#visitNepal2020
It takes 6-8 min by helicopter from lukla airport ... just above The Namche Bazzar
This kind of airplane is very useful in the mountain of Laos!
上手い~
Das Flugzeug ist ein Pilatus Porter PC 6 Made in Switzerland
The best and most experienced pilot to fly to this airport was Emil Wick,Swiss 🫕

@@neiwtonpereira8807 ICAO name for Syangboche is : VNSB …. my son used to fly from Kathmandu two or three times a day ..GOOD alternative to Lukla !!!!

A beautiful Table Top runway. They should spray water on the runway to avoid dust. And my God the surface is uneven. Heaven for hijackers.🏃🏃🏃🏃
who would want to hijack anyone here?😅
Syangboche the new Lukla
Was thinking exactly the same lol
it was there before luka.
Wow....

Anyone else notice the wind sock? Complete tailwind landing on a tiny runway.
I noticed the same thing. I assume there's only one way to land and one way to take off because there's such a slope to the runway. Not far away from Lukla ( VNLK) airport...
Niels vL And up another 1000 meters
Lukla is another killer airfield.
Considerable tailwind...

Wow.m
Amazing airport. Breathtaking scenery.
Where the bloody hell is it? I like to go there.
It is located in Nepal !
It's in the Khumbu Valley just north of Namche Bazzaar, Nepal. I think they use this airstrip only for helicopters now.
Looks like the runway is unpaved, just a normal soil road surface field makes dusts while taking off,Huh,,
Do some mountain boring tests for mineral deposits.
यो स्याङबोछे भन्ने ठाउँ चाहिँ काहा सोलु जिल्लामै पर्छ कि कता हो

Lovely Nepal!

Just curious. When you went to the more powerful later variants with the CFM-56 power, was it just as bad?
yes, the turbo Porter is amazing. Flew in it often in Vietnam using sketchy runways. Air America flew them accessing areas in the delta and south.
Looks a bit like Lukla before they paved it.
Yes, or Courchevel
You only have one free attempt to start, you can no longer carry out the second.
By the way: Here 0:06 is a typing error, it must be "höchst".
And they said JFK airport is a low standard airport? 🙄
Where is the airport
nepal
Better than lukla

Nepal
Where never lark or even eagle flew!!!
Single engine operation in these area is risky

Runway is terrible
No problem for a Pilatus Porter PC6
