We are in Indian River all the time, hope to check out the routes you come up with. Indian River is what we call our headquarters, lol. We do spend a lot more of our time on the 50" or less as opposed the the seasonal roads and routes.

Did you take trail 14 from Big Bay to L'Anse? Been on that trail many times in winter but didn't know if it's legal to ride on ORV's.

We took some of the trail on the way back. We didn't take any trail in the morning.

Thanks...wasn't sure if you could get all the way across on trail 14. I know you can take the Northwestern to Big Eric's and go to Skanee@@michiganinteractive

Enjoyed the video, we always like to riding the UP. However the uvt, atv trails are sometimes different from snowmobile trails. How do you plan your routes. What maping sustem are you using ? We are in the process of planning a large loop in the western UP. not a lot of information available on trails or back roads legal for utv from central UP over to the west. I've tried to see approximately where you are on your rides but the trails shown even the maps on the fishweb site are lacking real detail. I'm guessing your not always on an actual atv trail which makes it harder to plan a route. Any help ?

Most of the time we're not on an official trail. Best resource for the Western u.p. is mitrale.com

I’d like to ride this route in a few weeks for me and my fiancés honeymoon with my enduro and her quad. Would like to know more info on where to start out, maybe a map, to get to Lake Superior and back to big bay.

@@michiganinteractiveI’m interested in riding this same route also. But I can’t get your link for the GPX file to load. Do I have to be a member?

@@bencappon5811 it's a GPX file. It's not going to open up until you load it into a GPS. When you click on the link it's going to want you to save it.

It seems so sometimes, but no. I'm the leader of a riding club, Michigan Treadheads. I also belong to a couple of other clubs and have developed trails in northern, currently working on five routes for the Indian River area. I started an outdoor e-zine covering Northern Michigan 28 years ago so I do a lot of exploring.
