I think you should have gotten philosophy as soon as you saw the giants, then just threatened with mind benders. When I play ai mo, philosophy is usually the first tech I get, so I can wait to see whether to go hunting or organization.
You had a really bad spawn, and you were playing Bardur as Ai-Mo so you had a big disadvantage. However you usually want to get Philosophy early as Ai-Mo, usually as your 2nd tech purchased and before you get 3 cities. Ai-Mo's really only advantage is that techs are much cheaper for them.
Great video as always! I think the odds were just against you as you would have needed two more turns to build up your eco which got postponed even further by you having to react to him having roads and riders so... 🤷♂ Playing Ai-Mo against Bardur is reaaally tough, especially if your opponent is an experienced player!
@@sinisterdesign Yes, you're right. I think playing against a strong tribe like Bardur adds to that difficulty of playing Ai-Mo. However, I personally like their early monument of peace and the early access to philosophy, nevertheless, but yeah, difficult to win with them ☺
The main issue in this game was the distance between cities. you were quite behind from the beginning because of the spawn, besides the fact of bardur being a better tribe. One way to try to catch up was to not invest in riders so early and play more greedy, look for border growth, math, giants...
I wonder how much better ai-mo would be if they started out with philosophy instead of meditation. not to say mind benders are good but the literacy discount would probably make ai-mo a lot more viable
a 14x14 map is just too small for Ai-Mo if you could play on bigger maps, like 16x16 or 18x18, then you could go for Philosophy, although I think that you could've gone for in on a small map like this too. There is really no point of playing Ai-Mo if you don't go for Philosophy
Good playthru! Question…Why not consider Giant Rush with Ai-Mo? Also, I believe the timing is too short to play in real time…first several moves ok, but later? Too short of time, need to think! So I’m at 24 hr games only! I think they need at least two rating scales (like in Chess) one for real time, and one for 24hr. They are really two different games.
Is it bad to resign? I resign all the time. When I'm winning I prefer if my opponent allows me to finish him but I won't complain if he has better things to do
This game is just lame. Everyone is playing bardur and other tribes are no match against it. Every opponent I played against is a 1500 elo farmer playing bardur. Not playing it anymore until they nerf bardur.

As Gully realized his fate, he bought the only tech that truly made sense. Fishing

And what's stopping the knight chain from gobbling them up? (or catapults)

His spawn was also pretty awful which slowed him massively.
@@titanmesozoicgd6943 fax spawn can really change the game before it even starts especially since multiplayer has such small maps now.
What tribe *isn't* really tough to play against as Ai-Mo? (Other than Aquarion on Drylands, I guess 😂)

@@sinisterdesign ai-mo isn't that bad, just bardur is too good
I like that they implemented a timer. I hate that it is too short.
Agreed. If it just added 1-2 seconds per action, we'd be good.
2nd turn immediately pick philosophy for the 33% tech discount. Also the mind bender is a great defender against giants.

That was one of the worst spawn deficits I’ve ever seen.

I have met ale-eex before. Just thougth that it was cool that we have met the same opponent. Spoliers, he destroyed me:)
Interesting gameplay, but why didn't you consider mining smithery though?

Would really appreciate it if you made a Polaris tips and tricks video, as they been changed through numerous updates

For ai-mo, i just go for the mind blender at the start 😂
Ouch tough game. Giving yourself punishment. I want to see you at your best. Winning a big strategy game with a good tribe against a high elo player.
congrats on 30k (also why no philosophy t2)
Hi gullyy, Love your content and pls keep me updated on the new tribe (:

Woah I was just thinking I wanted one of these videos
Honestly I think that "live" and "5min" timers are the same lol
At the end you say you have stuff to do and yet you could have resigned 5 turns ago lol.
Imagine not knowing what the heck is going on. This is so confusing
I don't have an option to play with random matches online, do you know why?
Have you made a purchase yet?
DW, Ai-Mo regrest existing too

For the video
same, probably just for the sake of the video tho
I resign most of the time. I’m happy if they resign. Don’t drag it out forever.
Should've gone for hunting forestry earlier. Maybe even at the start, even tho it was less usefull then.
Let's go guullllyyyy
Just go philosophy and mind bender spam all his troops if hes dumb enough
i got an turn six giant with aimo son
Ai-Mo beat Bardur in the 2019 meta
should have got climbing first turn
People are playing bardur constantly.
Bardur best, it's a competitive game, and people will do whatever they can to win. Why bother using anything else? (Nerf Bardur)

personally for me, it’s the set map size we are stuck with that just makes random matches no fun for me.
@@Sing0529absolutely agree
Anyone else tired of everyone just playing Bardur? Like I hop in a lobby with 3 opponents as oumaji, and all my opponents are bardur. Smh
I think that was a skill issue tbh. Thats what you get for joining krakens smh
