Only game I remember that has a core gameplay mechanic locked away until the ending of the game and it actually makes sense, at the start especially if you haven't played the game, hordes are next to impossible to deal with, not to mention particularly frightening, leading you to avoid them.. Then you progress, get better weapons and eventually, even if you don't want to, the game is like "nope, we are doing this now".. One of the best guides I've ever seen for ANY game. Honestly, this is the kind of content that should bring in thousands of subscribers. It's no-nonsense, straight-to-the-point, and no ten minutes of pointless content to add more ads to the video. The fact that people making videos with not one-hundredth of the quality of this one have hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of subs is a travesty. So I just played the game using your methods, before the story line asked me to do it, I destroyed the Old Saw Mill Horde, killed them all, but didn't get the XP for it. Then I did the Iron Butte horde just a few days ago, and killed them all, but saved progress first. It also failed to give me credit for killing that Horde, but I reverted back to my previous save and just left them alone! But the Old Saw Mill is now dead and it is unpopulated I scoured the place, nothing is there. It's also not showing as completed either! I will let you know if it does, your methods worked Amazingly! Thank you for the videos, very entertaining and informative!
Well RD, I can enlighten you on what's going on. The two hordes you mention (Sawmill & Iron Butte) are both mission hordes that you have to take out near the end of the game. However, you can take them out early (as you already have with the Sawmill horde). Now, if you take out these two hordes early, you will never get any credit for taking them out, but, later on in the game when you are supposed to take them on, when you get to their locations, you will be given screen prompts showing you where to head to next, or you will trigger the next cut scene. I always go after these 2 hordes early as I like to have a good supply of freaker ears before the journey South. Hope this clears things up for you RD.
Great! Very interesting video! It blows my mind I never tried riding the bike up on any rocky areas before watching your videos. When you think about it, many of these areas was probably set there for this purpose since many rocky areas have this bike-friendly slope. For new players, I recommend not always using these kinds of safe tactics, because it could make the game a bit boring. But you can always try these methods and load an earlier save and redo the hordes in other ways :) 12:14 Little Bear Lake Horde - I never managed to get as close as you without alerting them. However, I found out that by standing a little bit further away from the shed and aim carefully, you can throw a grenade through the broken roof! 22:45 Blocking the horde with the bike was hilarious! :D 40:14 Nice detail added! :D
Many thanks for the kind words & advice Peite. I love the one about the Bear lake horde, genius. I also think a lot of these methods are ideally last resort options if you are struggling with a horde. I myself am a running & gunning man, but everyone has there own style. Appreciate you watching Peite.
Hey Borislav! Thank you for the very kind words mate, and I'm a bit stumped with the problem with the Lave Arch Horde. Just make sure to jump over the same fence area that I do & you shouldn't have any problems. It definitely hasn't been patched, as I used this last week.

Not sure if you have ever done this, but I think a great video idea would be to go on the most epic, cinematic run at the Sawmill Horde. You know, no repeated paths and using all the little traps, buildings, rooftops, and choke points all around the site that the game gives you. Using multiple weapons, mines, attractors, etc. Sounds like fun to me!
That does sound like a lot of fun my friend, and could potentially be a video in the future. I have a video on the Sawmill Horde due out near the end of the year with my horde series I'm currently working on, and this is an option worth serious consideration. thank you Thundercat.
@Borislav 247 I second Thundercat's motion! It would be sooo much fun to watch you, the fearless master-of-hordes to just go to town by leading all them Freakers on a merry chase!! 😆
I was like what are you talking about? There are so many freaks they fall out the the wagons. Then I remembered I play with a mod that ads 500 freaks to each horde. I completely forgot about it. Seeing the tiny hordes now are just making me laugh. But amazing videos. Specially the challenges. Thx.
You lucky man. Would love to have an option for the console where you could increase the horde sizes. Thanks for watching my videos mate, most appreciated.
You were right - this one was a biggie. My personal problem horde was the metoulios lava cave one but this will make it a doddle. Look forward to the south...

Well Bubu, maybe one day, Days Gone 2 just might get the green light, but it won't be for many years yet unfortunately. Appreciate you watching my videos mate.
Well Frank, I do have a full playthrough of Days Gone on my channel, but, Early next year I will be taking on this bad boy with an extreme playthrough. That will be worth watching as I will be very limited with what I can use.
@@borislav247 It's a pleasure. Jokes aside I'm an older gamer and do need a bit of help on some games. I have found your videos both helpful and really entertaining. I've even watched your challenge videos when I would last about as long as an untended pint in a Glasgow nightclub if I tried them.
@@borislav247 Using you as a gaming lifeline at the moment, my PS4 has died, so I am watching gameplay vids rather that playing. Thankfully easy to buy a PS5 next payday. Now I just have to figure out how to get my Days Gone game disc out of the dead console. Tutorial on RUclips is my next stop!
Coming late to the party, as I just decided to do another Days Gone playythrough, 2 yrs after my first. That was truly awesome. You mentioned stealth options, though, which I love just for the fun of it. Could you provide a link/links?
Well mate, if you want to see a stealth option for every horde in the North, just head to my channel page, and start looking through my videos section called Days Gone Hordes (Just below the top section). I have a stealth option on each video, and with the exception of the Iron Butte horde and Sawmill horde (they are due out later this year), I have every other horde in the North covered.
I always play on Normal difficulty, as most people who struggle with the hordes play on this setting, so I like to show what they will face (and of course the advantages you have when playing on this level like Survival Vision).
@@borislav247 I just asked cause I finished it on normal, and I'm now playing it again on survival mode. (Just Started) I'll let you know if most of your tricks still work. For example I noticed on normal if you're moving without using stamina you can just keep the hordes behind you, but on higher difficulty they catch you up.
@@nem447 Well best of luck on Survivor mate. It's great to play, but the lack of a constant mini map was the only thing I really missed. Survival Vision's not a huge loss unless you like to play with a heavy stealth approach, and as you rightly pointed out in a way, stamina control is key, as the hordes can catch you if you're jogging.
Death train horde... Funny part. The alarm is on and now, whenever I went there to finish, i am attacked by tons of zombies. Even, it is tough for me to switch off the generator. 😂😂😂 Horde is still not finished
This can happen mate, but just focus on taking out the offending speaker that you missed with a gun from distance. Make sure you are becide your bike for a quick getaway, so you can return later and take them out easily.
In the first vid or horde you encounter I notice you have 100 bullet capacity, and in the White King Mine your bullet capacity is 125, why am I maxed out at 50? Is there an extended magazine at one of the merchants?
There isn't for the SAF12, but, here's the reason why I have the bullets I have. If you pick up ammo when in the Days Gone world, it only let's you get to 50, but if you replenish your ammo at a camp, you get the SAF12 up to 125. In my next playthrough coming up, you'll always see me replenishing my ammo from camps as much as possible.
I've watched this so many times but can never seem to concentrate all the way through it (I'm autistic & ADHD - easily distracted)...point being: I'm wondering if you cover the couple of small hordes that respawn over and over but don't count towards the horde killer mission? I've been having a great time with the small horde near where you can get the premade fence saw blade (which I prefer over the fire axe) but can't recall where the other respawning horde is located..?
I do cover them L8D, but they are not on this video. Check out the video that I will leave a link to below this comment L8D. The two hordes you are referring to, are at the very end of this video. ruclips.net/video/gRIrqXfe4as/видео.html
@@borislav247 Excellent, thank you! I've been having a lot of fun experimenting with various ways of killing the horde mentioned in my orig comment. It's so small & conveniently located that it makes it feel completely safe to try new things
Good question my friend. The gun in question is an SAF 12. The bad news is that you simply can't buy this gun, but, you can pick one up very quickly at the first Ambush Camp that you are asked to take out very early game.
Well mate, I could go into great detail on this, but the easiest way to get this information, is to go to Days Gone Reddit, and there is a fantastic list there that goes into great detail about all the hordes & when they unlock.
could you make a tutorial on how to play new game+ survival difficulty. My biggest fear is no seeing the health bar on when to heal. The rest i actually like about the survival difficulty
I do intend on making a tutorial of Days Gone with the most helpful starting tips & tricks Houdini. But it won't be for a while yet mate. Be patient though, it will be worth watching when I get it done.
Ah, this is because I have completed the Days Gone game. After you have completed the game, the last of the hordes you have not yet taken out appear on the map, and when you get close to these horde areas, the map shows you the 3 locations they will be (daytime & 2 night time locations). I also chose to reset all the hordes in order to get the 3 locations of every single horde in the game(another thing you can only do once the Days Gone game has been completed).
Are you playing on the PC mate?. Just asking as a lot of the rocks on the PC version don't seem to be as climbable as the ones on the console versions.
@@SlimShady771 Ah, the problem isn't speed mate, it's all about getting the line correct, as all of these rock climbs can be made without going fast. To do them easier, once you are becide the rock & have the line, don't touch the accelerator button, instead, use the left joystick on the controller and walk the bike up the rock. Much more control doing it this way mate.
Another easy death train horde kill. Climb water tower and wait till dark. Use an attractor or flash bang. Then let the shots fly or mix of shots and throwables. Untouchable and easy take down.
Absolutely GTF. I do show the horde taken out this way on another video, but was only showing 1 method for all of them (with the exception of the Metolius horde), and I'd never shown the rock area for the Death Train horde before. Appreciate you watching the video.
@borislav247 oh nice I must have missed that video but good to know. If you ever do one about breakers as a stand alone I've got a couple good ones. I hate those things. Yes yes, your videos helped alot while I was out for surgery and catching up on some game play so much appreciated friend.
You basically need to take out the speaker with a sniper rifle so you can keep your distance. The one speaker everyone usually misses is the one obscured by the tree. Just pick off the ones you missed and then you should be good mate.
They do indeed. A nice area to farm freaker ears as this horde is 30 strong. Just make sure to use them to take out the ambush camp above their lair first.
It can happen mate. The world war Z style tactics they employ is no joke, especially when the hordes numbers are large. You need to make sure the shooting is on point with larger hordes. Sucks when it happens, but these hordes take it personally when you try to take them out, lol.
They most certainly do Naduke. I only released this video around 3 months ago, and Bend Studio have applied no updates to this game for a long time now. Just look at this video as a roadmap for destroying every horde in the South easily, I hope you enjoy it.
ive done the last hoarde 2 times now and apparently i haven’t completed it. i am 100% sure i didnt miss a freaker. can someone tell me why its not counting?
I most certainly can mate, and I understand the frustration, but I'll explain. I have already completed the game & chosen to reset all the hordes, so when I complete them now, I will get notification on screen telling me this. However, if you are playing the Days Gone game, and you haven't completed it yet, If you decide to take out this horde early (it's a mission horde that's supposed to be taken out near the end of the game, but you can take it out before you get this mission), you will get the freaker ears for the kills, but no notification will come on screen. The only time you will get notification, is when you get near the end of the game, and you get asked to take out the Iron Butte Ranch horde, and basically, when you reach their location, you will immediately be asked to head to the next location as you have already taken out this horde. Hope this info helps mate.

Hope this clears things up for you RD.
bro! thanks for all the hard work in your gaming channel content..Fantastic!..Respect!!!
You're too kind as always MXT. Respect right back my friend.
But you can always try these methods and load an earlier save and redo the hordes in other ways :)
12:14 Little Bear Lake Horde - I never managed to get as close as you without alerting them. However, I found out that by standing a little bit further away from the shed and aim carefully, you can throw a grenade through the broken roof!
22:45 Blocking the horde with the bike was hilarious! :D
40:14 Nice detail added!

I really enjoy your vid's mate...concise and always to the point...no blithering or bloody useless information, just truly enjoyable game strategy presented in a pleasant manner, but with the appropriate "stubborn F*%%k" thrown in for good measure...only problem i had was at Lava Arch...i could not for the life of me, jump over that fence that i am supposed to shoot from..I ended up being eaten like a mid-morning snack...I went from a possible hero ,,to a definite zero..in 4 seconds flat...any idea why?...Thanks again Borislav*
Thank you for the very kind words mate, and I'm a bit stumped with the problem with the Lave Arch Horde. Just make sure to jump over the same fence area that I do & you shouldn't have any problems. It definitely hasn't been patched, as I used this last week.

I'm a bit late to the party playing this on Ps5 it's honestly one of the best games ive played.. I've finished the main game just horde hunting know. Love your videos helped me out loads

What difficulty level were you playing on?
Good stuff 👍
Thank you kindly SS.
Death train horde... Funny part. The alarm is on and now, whenever I went there to finish, i am attacked by tons of zombies. Even, it is tough for me to switch off the generator.

Horde is still not finished

It's an absolute pleasure to help the Days gone community Houdini. Delighted that you have enjoyed the video.
Can I ask , what is the starting primary weapon, that you are using and can you first buy it or you find it at a loot area ? Thx
Good question my friend. The gun in question is an SAF 12. The bad news is that you simply can't buy this gun, but, you can pick one up very quickly at the first Ambush Camp that you are asked to take out very early game.
@@borislav247 thx

When do you unlock certain hordes?
Well mate, I could go into great detail on this, but the easiest way to get this information, is to go to Days Gone Reddit, and there is a fantastic list there that goes into great detail about all the hordes & when they unlock.
could you make a tutorial on how to play new game+ survival difficulty. My biggest fear is no seeing the health bar on when to heal. The rest i actually like about the survival difficulty
I do intend on making a tutorial of Days Gone with the most helpful starting tips & tricks Houdini. But it won't be for a while yet mate. Be patient though, it will be worth watching when I get it done.
Why my map doesn’t show the hordes red areas ? Like yours do when you pull it up?
Ah, this is because I have completed the Days Gone game. After you have completed the game, the last of the hordes you have not yet taken out appear on the map, and when you get close to these horde areas, the map shows you the 3 locations they will be (daytime & 2 night time locations). I also chose to reset all the hordes in order to get the 3 locations of every single horde in the game(another thing you can only do once the Days Gone game has been completed).
2:25 Unable to climbing reach over rock as you shown in Survival 2 difficulty.
try using a line slightly left of what I use on this video, as heading towards the centre of that rock section gets you up every time.
What a pain in the arse. I can't get the bike up on the rocks that easily.
Are you playing on the PC mate?. Just asking as a lot of the rocks on the PC version don't seem to be as climbable as the ones on the console versions.
@@borislav247 no on PS4. Some I have to go really fast to get up on haha. No worries I'll keep trying.
Yes yes, your videos helped alot while I was out for surgery and catching up on some game play so much appreciated friend.
hey man can you help me out with sawmill horde the problem is that I have the NERO speakers on from before and thank you
You basically need to take out the speaker with a sniper rifle so you can keep your distance. The one speaker everyone usually misses is the one obscured by the tree. Just pick off the ones you missed and then you should be good mate.
ok thank you so much I'll try that
Aunque elimine a la horda no oficial de belknap en su madriguera, siempre vuelve a aparecer,
They do indeed. A nice area to farm freaker ears as this horde is 30 strong. Just make sure to use them to take out the ambush camp above their lair first.
I tried a few of this locations and many times the freakers actually got onto the cliffs/stones and killed me lol
It can happen mate. The world war Z style tactics they employ is no joke, especially when the hordes numbers are large. You need to make sure the shooting is on point with larger hordes. Sucks when it happens, but these hordes take it personally when you try to take them out, lol.
@@borislav247 I don’t get why they are so mad? I’m just trying to blow them to bits, nothing personal 🤷♀️
@@KOMKOMAEASFUL LMAO.

Yep, I suspect that Bend Studio will be aware of the rock glitches now, so they will look to give the power back to the hordes with the next one.
Do these methods still work I'm on my 5th play through and never tried any of these ??
