As a right footed player, what strikes me most in dis video was this: Lefties more often than righties work on their strenghs (Messi, Robben, Rivaldo). On the other hand right footed players more often use both feet (RC7, Neymar etc..). Dunno ...I personally and definitelly on purpose train my left foot. i can pass, shoot, cross, do some skills with both feet. Sometimes even better than my stronger right. For example today i played futsal..i scored two goals (one with right + one with left). My question -should i work more on my strenghts rather than weaknesses ( maybe my weakness isnt my left foot-its kinda bonus to be able to use both legs in every situation.......MAYBE my true weakness is my right foot...bloody hell XD)? ty for patience

I am left handed for everything except 1)Football and 2)mouse on computer... When I was young I guess I learned to play with my right foot in order to mimic the other kids
I was CDM that took home seven trophies and I was right footed against most left footers truth is if you can control both your left and right foot you become more of a player that can set the game in motion to any format no matter the preferred playing style of the player
Pelé, zidane and ronaldinho, R9 and CR7, iniesta xavi gerrard kroos de bruyne bruno all are right footed (fact %70 of them are both footed but the main foot is right)

@@maroisike7908I mean,I have a friend that played futsal as a defender for 3 or more years, and every since I learned to dribble,I can almost always get past him,I don’t know if he didn’t train much or something, but ever since I started practicing 2 months ago I started to “feel” the timing of everything, like passing people and and shooting, which is weirdly something that only happens with my left foot, like if my right foot was slower to do these things, and I have been able to play quite good individually, idk if righties also have that, but even if I trained my right I don’t think I would be able to “feel” when things would work
This is a very interesting subject and great food for thought. The idea that lefties are so used to playing against righties and then also potentially having a natural gift for the perception of space is fascinating indeed.

It's probably impossible to definitively prove but I definitely think there is something to this theory. I played for a highly competitive soccer team growing up. We were a big club, probably around 50 kids in my age group divided onto 3 regular teams and 1 elite team where the best players from each of those teams would play together against an older age group. Of those 50 kids, every single left-footed player was on the elite team. There was not a single lefty who wasn't a top player in our club. And the two guys who ended up having the most successful careers from our club were among those left-footed players. It's just one anecdote but I do find it very interesting that none of the lefties were bad players. It's something that I've been thinking about a lot, so this theory really resonates with me. There's just something about lefties.
The main finding of the study was that about 12.1% of people were left-footed. There was a strong, but not perfect, overlap with handedness. While only 3.2% of right-handers where left-footed, about 60.1% of left-handers were left-footed. Thus, the chance of being left-footed is considerably higher for a left-hander than for a right-hander. Men had a slightly higher chance of being left-footed than women and professional athletes had a higher probability of being left-footed than the general population. Interestingly, footedness was less influenced by cultural and social factors than handedness, probably because no parents ever try to relearn their left-footed kids to be right-footed.
im right handed and left footed and ive always shared something with my other friend who was left footed and right handed we were always the smartest on the pitch and its hard to tell why
imagine playing as a striker till you change your club and the manager plays you as a left back because you are the only left footed guy. This is my story how i quitted playing football haha
Here is my theory. If you have a left foot, you are more intuitively genius, while if you are right footed you are thoughtfully genius. Thats why right footed wingers and attackers are ball magicians like Zidane, Ronaldinho, Pele, Ronaldo, Okocha, Zlatan etc. They have alot of tricks up their sleeve since they use the left part of their brain and have a lot of moves for every situation. While the left footed players play more intuitively and it seems like the foot is glued to the ball, but since they play more intuitively they get stuck in certain habits like Messi or Robben and dont use many tricks.
If u use both feet then you'll realize that your left feet is better at dribbling than the right feet..your right feet works on your balance but your left feet work for direction change
I am left footed but damn i am dissaster in football not to talk about my first touch in all my amatuer football career not even a fucking single ball stoped with a first touch, not to mention my goalscoring history, once i got 1on1 with the GK Srećko, i dribbled him hit the post could not score!
The best players in history are ambidextrous, they're just too rare because the circumstances that make them go both feet are particularly rare. Pele was a prime example of this, he was right footed but could do the same things with both legs he trained every aspect of his body because at age 8 he promised to his dad he would win the World Cup. In the case of Maradona after Goikoetxea broke his leg he had to work intesively to recover it but couldn't get it to how it was before so he improve his right one a lot even tho he still overwhelmingly prefered his left foot. Then there's Johan Cruijff who as a wee lad was told he couldn't play because of his physique, he was naturally right footed so he had trained his left foot to become left footed. More recently, Diego Forlan thought his left foot was so useless that he began training it and became ambidextrous with a left foot that had much more power and almost as much precision as the right one.
Most people are right footed, so when there’s a lefty on the pitch it’s easier to throw off the opponent who is most likely right footed since they are more common. Ambidextrous footballers are the real deal though.
Mighty Madman I used to play with an ambidextrous kid and it used to blow my mind when he would step up for a penalty and his problem was not knowing what foot to use I would be like wtfff use your best foot he’d be like it’s both. I can use both equally idk and I’d be like 😤😤😤 I wish that was my problem
Great video, Wendt seems like a really nice guy, i love how you approach football differently than most other channels who just go into results and tactics. keep it up! Your accent has also improved and it's much easier to understand you, something i can't say about myself :P
Who here has been on a team where you are the only left footed player, and they still put a right footed player on the left back position, in which my case, it was a lot of trouble for the right footed player, when I had to play on the left I could always manage to get the ball away from the right winger, but the thing that I didn’t like about my coach was that he would try and put me as a right back, even though he knew I was left footed player, so it kind of sucks being on a team full of right footed players and being the only left footed player on the team.
As a lefty myself I have to sadly point out that lefties use more of the right side of the brain is just a myth. Many studies have already debunked this idea. , it is often cited that around 95% of right-handers are “left hemisphere dominant”. This is not the same as the “left brain” claim above, it actually refers to the early finding that most right-handers depend more on the left hemisphere for speech and language. It was assumed that the opposite would be true for lefties. But this is not the case. In fact, 70% of left-handers also process language more in the left hemisphere. Why this number is lower, rather than reversed, is as yet unknown.
Finally, a lefty that acknowledges the fact that Brain dominance is a complete myth. ( I wrote this comment because there are still some people in the comment section who still believe that this brain dominance as a literal fact.)
Lefties are better Legends: cruyiff,ronaldo nazario,ronaldinho,beckham,romario, park ji sung,paul scholes,pirlo,del piero,thierry henry,bergamp :i'm joke to you
I'm cross-dominant right-hand/left-foot. Like Wendt said, coaches always played me at LW or LB as the only leftie on the team. That meant I modelled my game after players like Giggs and Roberto Carlos. I think this is part of what makes lefties generally finesse players-all of our role models are wizards! It's a little bit like wearing the no.10 or 7, you know there's an expectation of the kind of player you need to be. One season I was playing up front and recovering from a knee injury which meant I had to take most shots with my right foot. It was my best scoring season ironically as I think I focussed a lot more on getting into "easier" scoring positions because I was shooting on my weaker side.
Coaches always point out that I don’t use my right foot but when your left footed you already have the advantage so over the course of time you naturally avoid using your right since it’s less beneficial anyways and if I need to make i right footed pass I’ve gotten so good with the outside of my foot that it doesn’t matter yet coaches always criticize me for it but they don’t understand as they aren’t left footed
@@internazionaleronaldo1941 your not wrong righties are finishers levy, muller,Kane, etc but there are amazing right footed dribblers like naymar, de bruyne, ronaldino, sancho, etc

C.ronaldo ronaldo kaka Zidane dani alves ronaldinho romario ia Right foot and all of them is special you play with left or right don't matter i think , right foot players can learn to play with left, it.s more difficult for left players
As a leftie i tend to like playing through balls on either side of the pitch. It feels so simple and effective. Being left footed has advantages like when facing right against and opponent it’s easier to change directing to the left. I’ve always felt special as a left footed but it has also many disadvantages. It’s very hard to work with righties.
The greater population is right handed. Hence most footballers grow playing against right footed, makes it easier to defend against them, also these guys forgot to mention some great people who are right handed, like Aristotle , Einstein, Socrates, Plato, and top footballers like ronaldinho, cafu, maldini, ronaldo,. Statistically, since left handed are lesser in population, any generic amount of left handed geniuses will out way the total population of right handle, as there's a smaller total sample size out of both right and left handed people. Where as for right handed people its the opposite. This creates an illusion that left handed are more geniuses,
Ok so I think the fact that 90% of football greats are right footed sort of cancels this out. But another question, why is it left footed players are normally so bad with their weaker foot? Ie. Messi, bale, Robben, Cairney, Di Maria, Sturridge etc. Whilst most "two footed" players are naturally right footed ie. Eriksen, Forlan, Zidane, David Villa, Pedro, Cazorla etc.
That's a good question. The video touches on this a bit, saying Lefties practice their 'special skill' more, but it doesn't explain why this is the case. Have there been any great two-footed players who were naturally left-footed?
@@dublindave78 Only ones I can think of are Ousmane Dembele and Brahim Diaz, but in interviews they both say they aren't sure which is their strongest foot. Brahim takes freekicks with his right foot, which means maybe he's more naturally right footed, but we can't be sure haha.
Considering there are far more right footed players there is a good amount of good left footed players. It's amazing that the difference isn't that large in football unlike it is in the society

Yea ashley Young is a Pure talent
edit: He actually is left footed
Hes not
The main finding of the study was that about 12.1% of people were left-footed.

3:36 "just because you have a left foot" I guess us right footed people are hopping around on one leg😂!
Stupid 😂. Left footed uses right side of the brain and vice versa
@@divinesmercy162Whatever, be charitable. Ever heard about the human factor?! 🙃 Theory is good though.
@@mixedsportsanalyst6774 love you from India bro. Chill and take care
Thanks for your input!

Most people are right footed, so when there’s a lefty on the pitch it’s easier to throw off the opponent who is most likely right footed since they are more common. Ambidextrous footballers are the real deal though.

Thank to God I am left footed 🤲🤲
As a lefty myself I have to sadly point out that lefties use more of the right side of the brain is just a myth. Many studies have already debunked this idea. ,
it is often cited that around 95% of right-handers are “left hemisphere dominant”.
Lefties are better

"you cannot find a lefty football player without a special touch"... "allow me to introduce myself..."
Left-foot squad, where you at?
Einstein was right handed 😒😒
Coaches always point out that I don’t use my right foot but when your left footed you already have the advantage so over the course of time you naturally avoid using your right since it’s less beneficial anyways and if I need to make i right footed pass I’ve gotten so good with the outside of my foot that it doesn’t matter yet coaches always criticize me for it but they don’t understand as they aren’t left footed
