id like to know more about RA and RMA specifically what chemicals are used to activate the flux its chlorides and acids correct ? is there any literature where i can dig deeper in to this subject ? and at what point does the flux become conductive ?

I have been using a solder wire which has 3,5% flux, the problem i have encounter is that i have to change the soldering tip every short amount of pieces. My tip simply stops heating. I believe the flux is causing this issue. Do you know what type of soldering tip or branch should i use for this solder wire “SR-34 Super LFM 48”

I have a flux pen that emits a fluid that is quite runny and does an OK job. My friend has a tin full of flux that has a similar consistency to Vaseline and seems to work a lot better for me. What is the difference between these types?

The difference is really just the consistency and ease of application. If the paste is working better for you I would suggest our 135 Rosin flux paste, It is by far our most popular!

You were just getting to the good stuff. I wish you could have explained the differences and pros versus cons between all of the different types of flux.

This will be in a follow up video, If you have any specific questions I'd be glad to answer them though. Thank you!

If I do not want to clean the components after soldering, what type of flux would I need to use on small electronic PCBs and components? Are there any downsides to using this type of flux over another type?

The best flux in that case would be a no clean flux like our 312, it will leave a minimal amount of clear-ish residue. Rosin also does not have to be cleaned because it is non- corrosive but it will leave a brownish residue on the board which doesn't look as presentable when not cleaned.

Ken Roslyn and no clean flux be mixed at the application site?

Generally you do not want to mix different types of flux or different solder alloys. For reworking it might work okay but you would want to clean one off before applying the other.

So of all those types, what type is best for the application of quadcopters?

    • @SRASolderLab

I would suggest a rosin or no-clean. The rosin is a bit more aggressive and would be great for doing wires and things like that on the quadcopter.

Your site has an RA flux solder described as “no clean.” It caused a troubleshooting nightmare for me from what should have been a simple job (socketing a DIP40 BIOS ROM on a Neo Geo AES). It seems that it’s also conductive. I only use it for tining my tip now, but it was something like a half-pound of the stuff (MG Chem).

Hi Emmett, do you have the part number available?

    • @emmettturner9452
      @emmettturner9452 5 лет назад

      SRA Solder Lab Sure do:
      MG Chemicals 4896-227G, Sn60/Pb40 x .040, No Clean Leaded Solder - 1/2 lb.
      Part No: MG4896-227G
Though the picture and label directly describes it as “RA Flux,” the product description says “M.G. Chemicals No Clean formula uses synthetically refined resin and an effective activator.” It definitely requires cleaning!

SRA Solder Lab Also, my brother ordered it through your Amazon store so the description was wrong there as well.

Thank you for pointing that out, the description was incorrect. It is an RA flux that does require cleaning, we are updating the listing.
