UPDATE: As of 2:10 CST today (1/23/25) Pierer Mobility Group, KTM's parent company, made a few announcements. 1. They have enough funding to pay at least 30% off their debt. 2. Stefan Pierer is no longer the CEO 3. Preliminary numbers for 2024 look pretty dismal compared to 23. A video will be coming to cover everything in more detail next week. I have no sympathy for KTM, don't forget they installed parts on motorcycles and then put up PAYWALL, don't forget that they made bad camshafts and then denied it. NO SYMPATHY.
Before that was the electrical issues and definitely the cams debacle it was like a 1-2 punch to the chin. This sucks as the Husqvarna 401 was in my list for the next upgrade.
My girlfriend has a Porsche panamerra and expensive don’t mean good. It’s the biggest piece of junk car I’ve ever seen and in shop weekly meanwhile my challenger I bout new in 2019 hasn’t had one problem ever.
Spite, as a dealership owner, you are wrong with who and when bikes are owned and when dealerships can actually offer discounts. Demos they can stipulate a price reduction without authority from the actual brand, however even previous year(s) it’s up to the manufacturer to ensure prices are equalised across states. Take Indian as an example as they will pay for the advertising costs and control over discounts on previous years. Several other incorrect statements however I’ll be here all day if I list each. One big reason why KTM chose the path they are now on is simple. The inventory is greater than the total debt. This is what they will be leveraging off. The biggest part that pisses me off is the very fact that the CEO knew this was all coming and is ultimately responsible. Why the f does he get to keep his job, yet the ones that build the bikes and are the backbone are simply blindsided and without money during the festive season over Christmas. The CEO should have been fired ASAP! 🤬🤬🤬
I know there's a stipulation for prices to be equalized at first, but I have seen some massive discounts at my local KTM dealership. Some Huskies were going OTD for $2000 less than MSRP. Whether that was across the board or just a local deal, I can't say. I can only report prices I've seen personally.
Doesn't matter, Car sales are having actual crisis right now. If the motorcycle market stubbornly cling to the same model, then Motorcycle Market Crash 2026 isn't out of possibility.
If they treated the road with salt for the upcoming storm make sure to clean your bike after the ride! The salt can make things rust. Sincerely all of new england.
If they made them more reasonably priced like most the Japanese bikes they wouldn't be in this situation. They want harley money for Chinese quality bikes
They had reliability problems even before sourcing manufacturing to China... That's some stellar lack of awareness. Is it delusion?... Monumental arrogance? Greed? All of the above?
Indian quality** but I feel like it’s a combination of their lack of real options for the price. They’re basically dirt bikes until you get to the liter or larger bikes. Not everyone wants a large cc single cylinder bike.
Don’t mock the Chinese brands, they’re cheap for sure but the quality, if you hadn’t noticed is now equally as good as anything from the big brands, they do manufacture of course for most of them.
I wouldn't say that's the reason, but it's probably an aggravating factor as the lawyers might say. I think that happened in 2022 IIRC, and it seems like the real problems started before that
It’s hard to imagine that I will miss a company who can figure out how to create a new subscription system to fuck over their customers yet they can’t figure out how to make an engine that fucking works.
Do you mean you get a free trial of heaps of features and then only cost a few hundred to buy them? Oh and last i checked the lc8 I thrash works perfectly.
Lol for sure, definitely no engines that work 😂 other than hundreds of thousands of bikes on the road today. Take a chill man you are very angry for some reason.
Don't listen to the brand's lap dogs and boot lickers. They choose to reject reality and replace it with their own made up one. Slap me harder, Master KTM, I'll still lick your boots ! 🤦♂️😂
They know how to make an engine work, the problem is the work that they've been sourcing. Virtually no automotive company does their own casting/machining. I imagine the engineers are highly frustrated at the procurement team.
Ive legit turned my eye away from BMW motorcycles permanently because in their car markets they do the subscription technology trash. I absolutely will not support a company doing stuff so anti consumer. KTM is dead to me too because of it. Then theres rumors of KTM denying warrenty work if the bikes gone above a certain speed, yet they advertise the product on its back wheel. Terrible company, they deserve failure.
They cannot find out if a machine has exceeded a certain speed, and then they would (at least in Europe) be forced to state why exceeding a certain speed would invalidate a warranty. A dealer might say a bike has seen extensive track use/been raced (they'd call it competition use), but even that is almost impossible to prove.
@pauln6803 i promise you, every modern motorcycle has a ECU that logs how the bike is ridden. Police can even pull this data in the event of an accident. You really think A bikes ECU wouldnt record its driving data???
@larryhouse3776 Track/performance focused bikes have data logging facilities, whereas others might sometimes have top speed and fuel consumption. Almost all logs can be user reset. And in a fight with the courts/consumer protection agencies, it would be up to the dealer to prove that the machine suffered damage due to the conditions it was operated in. Some dealerships will try it on because they'd rather make easy money from service work/paying customers than try and claim their expenses through the manufacturer - especially if said manufacturer can be difficult. What a manufacturer can do is state the vehicle should not exceed a certain engine speed during the run in period. But since modern vehicles have a limiter in place during the run in period, I very much doubt any bollocks about "going too fast" will stand up if challenged unless the user has their ECU flashed to bypass limitations. They can and will recommend the user avoids holding the throttle wide open for extended periods, but that's more a suggestion because (obviously) a manufacturer - probably better to say "brand" with all the outsourcing these days - doesn't want you to thrape it everywhere and risk premature wear.
But when will KTM's problems get the 2025 Husky Vitpilen 801 down to sane prices!?! They are trying to sell a $9k bike for $10.5k and hiding all of the best features behind the most hated seller trick in history; pointless software fees.
1000% this. This is why I haven't bought a overpriced zero bike, and am not looking at KTM anymore. Software unlock things is stupid when you already paid $$$$ for a bike.
BMW Motorrad a few days ago released their 2024 sales numbers. They sold just over 210,000 units worldwide, so to see more than that sitting around in KTM's inventory is staggering.
There used to be around 5-6 ktm dealership in my State in India. When i wanted to buy a KTM i was shocked to know there is only one thats operating. There was just 1 single person sitting in the dealership and when i asked him about the bikes, the guy said he is from the vespa dealership and is sitting here because the guy who usually is in the dealership is sick wnd he is sitting there to tell people to visit some other day😂. I was so shocked to see a vespa scooter employee just chilling in the empty showroom. That's how bad the conditions are for KTM atleast in my country. Sad to see such a legendary brand suffering because of poor management. Hope they have a strong comeback again.
A work colleague used to work for Yamaha Australia & for a couple of years they were worried about the sales growth of KTM. Then KTM's sales figures just fell off a cliff, falling nearly 11%, & have been struggling for over a year. And the fire sale started last year over here. I picked up a brand new 2023 Svartpilen 401 in September for not much more than a used 2020 model was trading hands for. The dealer, who's in the middle of nowhere & barely in the Sydney basin, sold 3 units the week I bought mine but still had a bunch still in crates out the back. Hopefully they can navigate themselves out of this situation. Motorcycling would be far less fun if we lost KTM.
I've just seen a new model 2024 Svartpilen 401 on Ebay with 33% off RRP in the UK (£3699 reduced from £5599). Granted it is an ex demo bike but it has only done 96 miles so it's practically new. That's less than the old model 401s (2023 and prior) are going new. I am tempted as I have the 2024 Svartpilen 125, and I will be getting my full bike licence soon hopefully. But there are other bikes I am interested in. The 401 is excellent value in terms of tech features and road riding (and I really like the look), but it doesn't have much offroad ability, even for a scrambler. The accessories are also silly expensive, like £180 for a tank bag, £240 for heated grips. If I have space, I would definitely get one as a second bike though.
@@Bordpie I'm not sure about the new model, but for less than the price of a genuine tank bag & screen I managed to get a bunch of stuff for my 2023 model. I got a headlight protector, windscreen, radiator guard, crash guards, handlebar risers, bar end mirrors, pannier & top box rack & mirror hole plugs. And I used the genuine Husqvarna instructions to fit the windscreen because it was identical to the OEM one. Ali express & ebay are your friends for cheap accessories.
This is a sign that internal combustion engine motorcycles are just a fad, people are realizing how useless they are as no one is buying them. Soon people will return to horses as they have character and soul that the soulless motorcycle doesn't have. You can't get that "clop clop clop" like you can on a horse, I wish the greedy government didn't push horse emission regulations, not allowing me to take my horse inside the bar anymore.
@GIGABACHI see, this is why we install poop catcher systems into the floors. That deals with the emissions problems. It removes the poop particles out of the air too, so we can keep on bringing our horses in.
Tracking the KTM debacle, in terms of MV Agusta KTM had a 51% share of the company, so it's more a case of selling their shareholding which they are in negotiation to sell, they are likely to take a hit on the investment but will still be cash coming back into PMG, Shareholders have basically insisted that current inventory needs to be shifted so discounts from dealers is likely to happen for all brands. Stefan Pierer is gone as CEO at the insistence of Banks and Investors , with indications that they have funding to the order of 1Bn dollars from Bajaj/CFMoto and another organisation. So KTM will continue, but more manufacturing going overseas to India and China.
Bajaj turned down the funding bailout earlier in 2024. My understanding was they would not invest additional monies unless they received100% ownership of name and intellectual properties and full control of the direction of the company.
@@ronald8673 Been reading articles published in the last couple of days across motorcycle industry and financial press that have indicated that they are onboard along with CFMoto. and a Hong Kong based investment company called FountainVest. I guess tat will all become clear after the shareholder and creditors meeting on the 27th Jan
@@ronald8673 And Stefan Pierer is doing everything he can to not lose a single percent of the control he has in that company. From a logical perspective Bajaj should be the ones to buy KTM, they are the ones who can keep KTM going. But they would not be the KTM that we know if that happened. It seems like KTM sponsors 90% of the enduro racers, there is no way Bajaj would be doing that.
All the articles I have seen that have been published in the 24-48 Hours indicate that Bajaj are onboard, My guess is that no was all the while Stefan Pierer was hanging as CEO now he has stepped down things may well have changed.
KTM is supposedly preparing to open a factory (to assemble, not to produce) to sell their motorcycles here in Brazil, where they have no presence at all save for a few wealthy people's trail bikes. If they go ahead with it, they'll be doing so solely to dump inventory on unsuspecting costumers.
I went down to TJs in Austin. They are not trying to sell nothing. I'm basically on a freeze from buying because the wife wants to buy a new house(3 months looking so far.) but I was willing to pay cash if they had something for a decent price. They are still charging MSRP. I was like nope
KTM could entice buyers by unlocking any of the electronic goodies it normally wants riders to subscribe to. They’re already there and how many folks end up paying the extra expense anyhow
Welcome to "loot boxes" and/or p"pay2win" scheme. Any bike/car that can be locked out of their already installed parts or abilities by software is big NO NO for me. Also, they need to bring back kickstart and drop prices significantly. I'll stick to my 2012 EXC and 98 LC640.
The problem was KTM acting and investing as if they were bigger than they are. They're not BMW, they're not Honda. Continuously investing huge money in MotoGP, and then buying MV Agusta, of course that'd backfire at some point. I also think to go for frequent overhauls on their motorcycles as they did, when instead they should have went for smaller updates on all motorcycles, and especially make them reliable (which should have been in the first place), that would have created the customer trust and brand image that they now will wish for and won't get. The fragile cams on some models, and how that was (badly) handled, broke their reputation before it even ressonated with the public. That current lack of consumer trust will make KTM's recovery very difficult.
As soon as the news broke all the listing on the dealership close to me change to call for special pricing. It seems as they want to get rid of brand asap.
I managed to pick up my brand new 2023 1290 SAS on an end of season sale in fall of 2023 with a total discount and savings of about $4000 after tax (this is in Canadian dollars). It was a pretty good deal, bringing the price of the bike down to something comparable to a Tracer 9GT or base Africa Twin, which actually isn't too bad for the amount of bike you get with the 1290. Definitely waaaay cheaper than the competing big ADVs from other brands. Been enjoying it a fair bit since. The recent updates to KTM's situation as mentioned in the pinned comment of the video here gives me hope they can turn the ship around. I hope they do, I love their bikes and would like for mine to continue being supported going forward still. lol
Hi Spite, I’m off topic here, but could you do a 2025 motovlogging setup vid? I’m using a DJI Osmo Action 1 with a Rode Wireless Go II, and can’t get usable helmet audio. Your audio sounds great and I’d love to know how you’ve set yours up and what gear you’re using.
KTM just won the Dakar. The KTM team is running the Supercross season. It looks like Bankruptcy is just a way to keep everyone with claims at bay until they sell inventory…
Please spite ! I begging get to the point of the video Quicker it was like 3 before you started . Watch throttle blip. He does it perfect . Concise into the point no Clickbait check out his format.
I love KTM's, I need a new bike, and I have cash in hand...but I won't be buying one. I don't want a Chinesium engine, I don't want to pay a monthly fee to use features I've already bought, and I won't buy a bike that the factory won't fix that they know is faulty (camshafts, electronics). Screw KTM.
Your napkin Math doesn´t calculated in that KTM can only sell Euro 5+ compliante Bikes as New in the EU since January 1. The only way to sell there Stuff before the 2025 lineup is on a special Permit for low Numbers of remaining Dealership Stock wich is hard to get or otherwise as used bike with one pre owner before January 1 wich means in both cases an guaranteed loss for the dealership. And reworking this little shitters isn´t worth it you need at least an complete new exhaust + ECU + second Sensor + capable OBD. Do able with enough time money and effort but nobody will do it because customers will not pay for it. The only way to get rid of them is shipping them to USA and Asia. One Region doesn´t want them and for the other Region they are overpriced with all the Royal Enfields, CF Moto, Voges and Heros on the Road
KTM’s woes are the result of bad leadership at the top. Period. End of story. The decision to get in bed with the Chinese (cf moto) was the beginning of their demise. KTM’s quality declined, and now the Chinese have copied the KTM technology and offer bikes at a fraction of the price.
Everyone makes videos about KTM's financial Problems. They filed Chapter 11 Decisions will be made I think Mid February. We may learn more mid FEB. I don't know if or why they have not offered big Discounts on their supposed huge inventory of new bikes..
Problem is that their bikes are kinda toxic at the moment, for a variety of reasons, to go and jump for their bikes even with a discount. You only gonna get the KTM diehards and probably they already have a KTM.
I think you are overlooking a major reason they are in this position- their quality is terrible and they messed over their customers by not dealing with it.
Buyers a KTM streetbike after all this news sounds sketchy to me. Getting it serviced by a dealer that coild close and not finding parts sounds like a big pain in the butt. Dirt bikes seem to have better support from outside manufacturers than their street bikes.
When i went to a KTM dealership last year they were just starting to receive models like the 990, models "released" at the beginning of the year, in late fall. They're just sitting at customs because they're customs processing is SO bad. The dealer has no idea what's going to show up when. Because of KTM they can't plan, and they can't convince people other than die-hards to buy a bike that may or may not show up in months.
Idk if anything changed with the formula of that salt spray. But I’ve been behind the trucks as they’re spraying, while driving cars known for getting sideways. That stuff is very slick when freshly sprayed. It’s fine less than a minute later though
Also, KTM made that statement on their website at 2:10 CST which is AFTER I released the video. My bad for not reporting on news that is 10 minutes old.
Participating in Moto GP for 2025 would be reckless. Can you imagine how much interest is being spent by the dealers on that unsold inventory. We’re going to start seeing dealers have their floor plan’s repossessed.
Reliability issues. No brand transparency. And way too many models. U dont need a duke for every 100cc difference in displacement. Then make 3 diff versions of each of those duke whether it be adventure or gt or grand adventure gt +. They need to mininize their lineup.
Here in New Zealand ktm bikes usually after two years go on a heavy discount. The 1290 adventure R had a 10k NZD(5.5k-5.7k USD) discount until all of the model year was sold.
The ratio of debts v assets is crucial to whether KTM is allowed to continue in business. The gigantic pile of unsold bikes will show in the accounts as ‘assets’ and may well have been valued above their true worth The moment KTM starts discounting heavily the true value of these ‘assets’ is exposed, further damaging the credibility of the company. Yes, there must eventually be a ‘fire sale’, but it may be some months away yet.
WTF do half million-dollar Moto GP bikes have to do with street legal bikes? In the Glory years of HD they sold 300,000 bikes per year. In 1979 GM sold 288,000 Camaros .. Plus Firebirds, Tans Ams, Nova's Chevelles, Chevettes, Cadilac . Buicks, Oldsmobiles, Chevy and GMC Trucks, Mont Carlos Millions of Units.. The most Popular motorcycle in the World is the Honda C-90 Honda Cub ect.
I have a beautiful new( leftover) 2021 MV Agusta Turismo Veloce Rosso which I picked up last year. I researched MV before buying and thought that the Pierer Mobility Group and KTM would bring stability to MV, never knowing how overstretched the Pierer Group was since KTM is such a powerful brand. Lesson learned, don’t go by image alone!
If you think your gonna lose control of the bike keep your hands and feet on the controls so you can save it better unless you plan on dumping the bike immediately😅😢
A quick search shows KTM has about one year of inventory today. MotoGP costs money, and if they don't podium it will be a hard sell to keep spending on MotoGP. They need to make radical cuts or face a carve up and auction in the future. While KTM in MotoGP may be nice for aspiring Moto2 racers, will it sell bikes on Monday?
They lost a lot of the best dealers a long time ago by forcing them to buy bikes they couldn't sell. Sticking them with a couple hundred grand of bikes they owned outright or paid juice on. Add in the CAM issue and here we are. Glad I never bought one.
Maybe if they didn't sell $15k dirtbikes they could sell more bikes. I went to buy one in 2020, right before covid hit. I priced out a KTM 500 exc and a 300 xc-w, both after taxes and dealers fees were about $15k. That's nuts. I know they are nice, but are they $15k nice??? not so sure. Ended up finding a used Yamaha YZ250X for $4k and it's been a great bike.
Both great bikes, I have owned both. Dr650 for reliability, 701 for power and suspension. My Husqvarna 701 has been both reliable and super fun. It's fast!
@@THX5000 I didn't get my first DR until 2002. I absolutely loved it. Put 50000 miles on it in two years. I want the 701 or 690 but the price and the future are too much to ignore.
I think KTM should focus on dirt and adventure and drop the pure street bikes. Their dirt bikes have a cult following. I am one of them my 22 300 XCW is the best dirt bike I’ve ever owned. Big street guy too but wouldn’t touch a KTM street bike with a 10 foot pole
Ktm in India is also suffering from an image problem i.e. "chapari" riders. It means skinny boys with bleached hair, wearing sandals, riding like idiots. They are not in large no but they are the most visible. Ironically ktm is one of the more feature rich bikes here. But the image prevents a lot of us buying it because of our parents 😂.
This hurts my heart man KTM but the father company but still I was just thinking about getting a used KTM and to hear that you're going bankrupt where did I leave us enthusiasts who love KTM products😢😢😢
Everyone drops MV… was a dumb buy. I’d like to see gas gas go too. And GP really is pointless for them. They don’t even make a real superbike. Pulling out would be the right move. But ONCE the contract drops off.
Nobody cares for KTM in regards to buying their product . I live in Maryland and travel thru PA, DE, and the State of Md and have never seen a KTM motorcycle on the road ???? Who cares .
@ - 4 wheelers for off road, I have not been injured and can ride by myself without anyone babysitting myself! Much too easy to get hurt with a heavy bike on dirt ! Can’t sell experience to an old dog !!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
@@donaldsoncole3095 I don’t understand what you’re saying. But I was referring to your comment that said, “no one cares about KTM ….” It’s next to impossible to go to a track or trail and not see dozens of KTMs. So you’re wrong….a lot of people care about buying KTM products.
That is a super duper high chance of winning the CB1000R. 💯 With all those bikes, legit dropping prices would help a lot already. They have a lot of cool bikes. Selling them equals making money instead of letting them sit makes no money. With sales, they can pay debt, make parts available for what can break or is known to break. Fix it or better yet resolve it and then choose to either stop or continue with a better way up and be prosper.
Enjoy the channel, reviews, and variety of content. I think you do very well at presenting facts and keeping your opinions clearly separated which is really kinda rare these days. That being said... How about a review on a 750 gixxer or some comparisons? K6 & up - since they haven't changed much. There are gazillion reviews on GSX8Rs, R7s and all the other middleweights. The 750 gixxers don't fit in the 600 class bikes, not a liter bikes... so it's essentially a dinosaur competing with all the new parallel twins and other bikes of that ilk like the RS660. I'm one of those old farts in my 50's still riding sport bikes and find them to be fairly comfortable for a supersport - at least enough to be my daily driver with a 60 mile round trip commute in SoCal. Although electronic rider assistance is cool, I prefer less of it - makes the ride more viceral...so the lack of tech isn't much of a big deal as far as I'm concerned. I'd just like to see how it impartially stacks up and I think you'd be the one up to the task👍 Would've DM'd you instead of making it a comment, but from time to time I'm technologically ignorant and lazy enough to not try very hard to figure it out lol. Also it's bubblegum rock to some degree & not metal but...check out Nuno Bettencourt if you're not familiar - awesome guitar player...clean bad af riffs. Keep up the good work on the channel👍🏻👍🏻
@spitescorner You def have to try one. Next time you're in SoCal hit me up if you havent had the chance yet. They hit a sweet spot between 600s and Liter bike to deliver usable lower end torque and a street usable power band. 1st street bike I owned was a 750 back in 1987...many years and many bikes & flavors later, I'm on a K7 GSXR750 as my daily driver. I appreciate Suzuki continuing to produce it... even if only for the NA market...I'm surprised it's not extinct from new production already. Stay safe my friend - appreciate the reply👍🏻
280,000 sounds like a lot, and likely due to the cam wear problem and loss of faith in the company. I think they were silly to make other brands of bikes that were practically copies of their bikes, it just reduced sales of the KTM models.
Depends on what kind of dirt bike you're referring to. If you want a roadworthy supermoto with performance that is similar to or better than that of KTM 690 SMC-R, your only other option is Husqvarna 701, and KTM owns that. I suspect the lack of competition factors into the price.
I’m not surprised KTM is hurting. I just went to the dealer and was pricing a new bike and 8 grand for a brand new 250 is insane. I can buy a new Yamaha MT07 for 8500. But that being said is KTM is going under Polaris will pick them up. Polaris wanted to buy KTM back in the 90s
KTM is going to survive it will just be under new management. Look at Harley. KTM is too big of a name to just disappear but it does seem they need to be sold to someone that understands how to run a business of that size.
I multiplied 280,000 by $9,000 and I got $2,52 Billion KTM sells motorcycles wholesale to KTM Dealers. you don't have to pay anything to DORNA if you are Bankrupt
I hope a company like Bajaj buys KTM for cheap, fixes some well known reliability issues and starts mass produce KTM's for a cheap prices. That would be awesome. I really like KTM bikes, but they are just to unreliable and expensive for my use case and preferences.
They probably treated the roads with brine. Its a salt/water/who knows mixture. They start treating the roads with it here in Ohio in like November. I dont know what is worse for cars, regular salt or the brine.
No but they pay floor panning fees which is like interest. The longer a bike sits on the floor the more it costs the dealer. They don't pay for the bike until it actually goes out the door.
Dealerships usually have 3 month's interest free. After that they pay a floor planning company interest every month. After 12 months they pay interest plus an additional handling fee which is usually more than the additional interest they're paying. After 24 months they either have to come up with a private bank or pay the unit off. At this point there is no chance of making a profit even if you sold it for MSRP. It's usually sold at a loss to stop the bleeding.
The problem with KTM is their target market is narrow and have a lot of models. Have reliability issues, overpriced. Too greedy and can't even fix reliability issues??! Go broke we don't care.
Makes you wonder about the new Super Adventure and Super Duke GT both announced the end of last year. Surely shifting what they had and then developing new flagship models, weird. Also according to some credible sources they're after getting 900 million funding from that meeting thing, let's hope they recover especially for the average employee on the ground.
People on the board own the company (investors). Those in the salt will only lose their jobs, the owners lose everything maybe even their homes, owners took the real risk not those in the salt mine (ok the lenders took a real risk too.)
Get rid of electronic feature subscription. Drop out of International MotoGP for a few years ( Those are always money sinks by the millions) There are always better cost effective ways to Market to the world. Sell and drop high end models. Refocus on the mid and lower tier and increase the quality of engine parts, not skimp . Promote and cut total price by 20% from MSRP price. It's better to sell than to not sell. There is no use having overstock if you can't sell. I can guarantee they can recover 40% of their debt back and break even year after year. Long as they streamline marketing and product. They just have incompetent management. This is what Out-Of-Touch looks like when your business been on auto-pilot for a decade. It happens.... It's definitely not dead yet.

How are these comments from a day ago when the video just dropped a few minutes ago
It's a double edge sword. If the price drops, it's hard to position yourself as someone who sells top quality.
I'm curious if the drop in sales started after they introduced their demo mode and paying their subscription fee for features present on their bikes
I would never ride a KTM farther than I would want to push it back.
@ That's what Rev Limiters are for.
@pauln6803 i promise you, every modern motorcycle has a ECU that logs how the bike is ridden. Police can even pull this data in the event of an accident. You really think A bikes ECU wouldnt record its driving data???
@larryhouse3776
Track/performance focused bikes have data logging facilities, whereas others might sometimes have top speed and fuel consumption.

Motorcycling would be far less fun if we lost KTM.
same here in the Philippines when their partner didn't renew their deal last year all units went as low as 40% off, they have a new partner now.

Bajaj has factory in Manaus, maybe they can sell KTM via bahaj dealership. Afterall they sell same bikes
lol they're not opening up shop in brazil cuz the bikes are constantly going to be stolen.
I went down to TJs in Austin. They are not trying to sell nothing. I'm basically on a freeze from buying because the wife wants to buy a new house(3 months looking so far.) but I was willing to pay cash if they had something for a decent price. They are still charging MSRP. I was like nope
They have no one else to blame but their self. if they were reliable, they would be successful.
Cutting corners in high intensive sport ain't good strategy at all 🤣
KTM could entice buyers by unlocking any of the electronic goodies it normally wants riders to subscribe to.
I'll stick to my 2012 EXC and 98 LC640.
i think some dealers are offering it for free
I hope they do, I love their bikes and would like for mine to continue being supported going forward still. lol

280,000 sounds like a lot, and likely due to the cam wear problem and loss of faith in the company. I think they were silly to make other brands of bikes that were practically copies of their bikes, it just reduced sales of the KTM models.
KTM is pricing themselves out of the market. 12k for a dirt bike is a lot of money.
Wake up motorcycle companies, the pandemic money has been spent, unemployment is rising, everything else is expensive, no room for a toy.

No dealerships do not pay the manufacturer for bikes sitting on the showroom.
@@dandersonjr Thank for a more comprehensive explanation.
The problem with KTM is their target market is narrow and have a lot of models. Have reliability issues, overpriced. Too greedy and can't even fix reliability issues??! Go broke we don't care.
Probably not gonna happen, but I'd love another Duc giveaway
Makes you wonder about the new Super Adventure and Super Duke GT both announced the end of last year. Surely shifting what they had and then developing new flagship models, weird. Also according to some credible sources they're after getting 900 million funding from that meeting thing, let's hope they recover especially for the average employee on the ground.
Definitely KTM needs new leadership.
My local KTM has a couple 2024 890 Adv R's for $11.5K.
USA over 36 Trillion in debt- broke like Ktm 😂
That's not debt like a credit card. It's a little more complicated than that. Still rough bubbles though.
At 1 billion debt you would think something would’ve happened. Might as well wait for 10 billion debt.
Sitting here in Austria, watching the KTM fire burn, and wishing I could enter the Honda Giveaway.
Bring on the $6000 300 XCs!
People on the board own the company (investors). Those in the salt will only lose their jobs, the owners lose everything maybe even their homes, owners took the real risk not those in the salt mine (ok the lenders took a real risk too.)
Dorna sold MotoGP; Liberty Media bought them out-same owner as WorldSBK
If they kept the rotax 650cc motor for the Husqvarna it would be like printing money
They should have given those bikes to Obi and Charlie
And yet they are releasing the 2025 390 rally and sm. There must be a plan in place to fix ktms problems.
Kaput T M it's going to be a chinese or indian sticker.
Looks like I’ll be getting that 1290 superduke sooner than later 😅
Vangaurd / Blackrock are going to absorb Pierer Mobility AG.
Hey I got the Honda CB1000R hornet sp 2014 still a great ride 🎉🎉🎉 to bad about KTM 😊
Dude, those white stripes are the telltale signs of dried on brine or a salt water coat. I see it in Wisconsin alot. Also saw the truck that applies it.
Ktm should sell gas gas and husqvarna. Also, ktm should their sell small affordable bike in the us like the duke 125 and rc 125.
