I'm still using Windows7 on my 13 year old PC. The only reason I am getting a new PC - is that windows 10+ refusing to run on my CPU. Windows is not becoming better and better anymore - it's just becoming more and more bloated.

Well, since i like both of them, i did a dualboot with Windows 7 and Windows 11, sure, i don't use Windows 7 as much as Windows 11, however, i like to give both OSes different uses.
Windows 11 is like Windows 7 and Windows 10 had a baby, since Windows 11 has the calm peaceful feel as Windows 7, but bits of the Metro UI-ness from Windows 10.

I feel as if for Windows 11, Microsoft was feeling nostalgic for Windows 7, and so went “Scrap this Metro, we're going Retro” and full remastered Windows 7. Keeping in mind, not the looks as the first priority, but the feeling of similarity and freshness with it. And just to not alienate itself from the modernistic features from Windows 10 and 8, it added Widgets as an afterthought. That being said, the widgets panel can be really good if proper features are added.
I honestly like Microsoft is going feature-wise. I do hope they allow us to move the widgets from the widget menu to the desktop to make them more useful, similar to the gadgets in Vista/7 (and also allow third-party widgets, now that the Microsoft Store can allow for more safer programs), and also incorporate a similar transparent Aero theme to windows, but with the modern flatness (doesn’t have to be glassy) to match the vibe of the operating system in future updates to make the operating system better.
I feel like the black background of the windows 11 shutting down/restarting dialogue, or the CRTL+ALT+DEL menu should have a blurred version of your wallpaper instead just black to fit in better with the design

Windows Vista has better UI. But you can customize Windows 7 to make it look almost exactly like Windows Vista (up to 98%). Both the OSs based on the same codes so it's very easy to make one look exacly like the other.
@Fearful Harmony The titlebar buttons is a little bit smaller, the start menu contains 2 buttons for lock and shut down the computer, the Windows Explorer didn't have the libraries, the auto-arrange option wasn't present in Wimdows Explorer, Getting Started had a different background for the top banner, the Windows orb is displayed with a animation in the Logon UI, Paint didn't have a Ribbon UI-styled toolbar, the startup screen had only a loading bar and the gadgets had a unique sidebar. (And btw, that obviously isn't all the differences between Windows 7 and Vista)
Im still using Win7 for gaming and everything cuz i have a low end graphics card (GT 705) and i would use windows 10 but nah, i get 5 FPS on games while on windows 7 i get 20-60 fps
i like the metro looks of win10, and have a sort of an aero look like win7 on my win10, with some nice tools and registery tweaks, win11 is nice though, but it is tooooo bloated and still has alot of issues, my win10 is rock solid, never have any issues anymore for a few years now.

potato pc, I get it but don’t blame the OS if you have a potato pc. A i5 4th gen can run it with little to no lag, even though it’s GPU is Intel HD Integrated Graphics.
The real comparison should be the time it takes to open stuff in them using same hardware, the time it takes for them to log-in into the user after a sleep, the time they both take to warn you the password is wrong (windows 10 takes a fucking long time to tell you, you tiped the wrong password its annoying).

Use a Linux distro. i use arch personally but you can go with Mint if you don't want to install all the things manually.

Windows 7 still better. I still use Windows 7, because i hate 10 - maybe it was a commercial success but in terms of usability it's literally one of the worst Microsoft OSes ever made.
