She Utterly Hated Buddy Ebsen, Now We Know the Reason Why
Nancy Kulp and Buddy Ebsen were household names, their on-screen chemistry as part of The Beverly Hillbillies bringing laughter into millions of homes. But behind the bright lights of Hollywood, behind the scripted lines and forced smiles, a quiet war was raging. It wasn’t the kind of feud that made headlines overnight, it was something far deeper, far more insidious. A battle of egos, ideals, and a betrayal that would never be forgiven.
At first glance, it seemed like a match made in Hollywood heaven. The gruff, yet lovable Buddy Ebsen, and the sharp-witted, intelligent Nancy Kulp. Together, they helped shape one of television’s most iconic sitcoms. But as audiences laughed at their antics, few realized that the warmth on screen masked an unspoken hostility, a tension that grew stronger with every season. It started as mere friction, small disagreements brushed off as creative differences. Yet, something was simmering beneath the surface. Something that would eventually explode.

Wiki says they did reconcile before she died. Both cannot be true, but who knows? I'd bet on her taking the animus to her grave.

ACTUALLY Kulp was arrogant, hated men, and was argumentative in interviews. They clashed because he was a far greater talent than her and she hated men in general. She was a supporting bland character with an exaggerated view of her own importance. She achieved nothing like Buddy did. A petty nasty person.

Kind of sounds to me like Buddy couldn't handle smart, strong, self assured women. In that regard, she appears to have been a far better person than "The Star."

@@Liam1H By all reports she was an angry vindictive manhater that was rude to interviewers and to staff on set. Not at all strong. Courtesy is a strength.
