    What about food and emergency rations? Doesn't look like it would fit all too well!

    Personally I feel that is way too much kit, and the bag is way too big. 2 nights camping can easily be done with a 25L bag, or at least I managed to do that. A lot of the kit on the DofE kit list is very unnecessary. It's all really down common sense.

    Out of interest, how heavy did this bag end up being? Thanks :)

      Weighs in at 11kg. Would be less if you split the group kit, and more if you carried more than 1L of water.

    wow -.- putting a first aid kit at the bottom of your bag is the stupidest thing I have ever heard!

    • @JamesvanOppen
      @JamesvanOppen  10 лет назад +1

      Why? You don't plan to ever use it... If it's that much of an emergency then a few plasters won't help ;)

      James van Oppen i dunno what your first aid kit consists of but I hope nothing ever does happen to someone when your hiking with them! because its going to take them 20 mins to get first aid provided.

      +Macauley Joyce If you have a casualty so unwell that the 30 seconds it takes to turn a bag upside would make a difference, then you'd have more important things to worry about and your first aid knowledge and ability to improvise would be more important than any kit you could fit in an expedition pack.
      (BTW most rucksacks - including mine - have more than one zip... So things at the bottom can still be easily reached)

    Why do people get so prepared it's only a walk for the weekend
    just take 2 pairs of clothes, drinks, food and a sleeping bag simple
