Brad had been building this team through the draft the last 3 years, and has done a fantastic job. But he has built the team to what it is now. And it's time to use draft picks to get the final pieces we need to win a Superbowl!

If Zadarius Smith is a cut candidate, it only means were going to trade some draft picks for a home run hitter opposite Hutch, because 6 mill for a dude with juice on a team desperate for D-Linemen who stay healthy. If we don't sign him back for that little money to be a depth piece we better be getting Maxx

Levi showed potential at tackle. He filled in at end due to injuries but he is not an end. I say keep him on a 1 or 2yr reasonable contract. Pascal needs to move inside he doesn't get any pass rush on the edge. Give Broderick 1 more year if he still doesn't pan out let him go.

I suspect the Lions will hold on making any move until post draft. I also think they will be looking to shore up the offensive line with the draft versus defense. The Lions still need to improve their pass rush yes, but it's more important we have depth on the OL to protect Goff. We were the #1 offense for a reason and out run game is successful for the same reason....a top offensive line. Our defense will be in great shape. Think of all the defensive players who got experience/reps due to all the injuries. We will be fine defensively once we are back at full strength with healthy Hutch !!

One line in that article stands out to me: "The Lions need to add to their existing talent, not cut ties with capable players for unnecessary cap savings." At the same time, they rank Z as a high cut probability and Martin as very low. Umm...what?
If they do anything, it'll probably be to restructure or cut and resign Z. We should keep him no matter what - he brings so much positive energy along with proven talent and experience. He did quite well considering how decimated our D line had been...with a healthy D line and opposite Hutch, he'll do better, though we'll still need more pass rush depth versus containment types like Paschal.
Martin? Show him the door. He's Houston 2.0, another of Brad's keeping one of "his" picks too long scenarios.

I keep Levi, Josh, and all the DLineman I can thru cuts. B mart knows what he is facing. They're going to keep Z on a contract restructure. #11 stays as both he & JRM have high ST value, beyond cost savings for one year. 🤔 There may be some movement here or there, but everything from here on SHOULD be focused on the defense. What happens with CD3 will drive a lot of what the 🦁s do in FA & the draft. He could go after Rasul Douglas if the Ravens go after him.👀🤔🎙👍🏾👍🏾

Z better not be a cap casualty, guy came in and IMMEDIATELY contributed. He was coaching on the sideline in the game before he actually played. That Dline needs a guy that can effect that QB opposite Hutch and if you gave up that much draft capital just to rent the guy when you had a full page of defensive starters on IR then Brad Holmes just isn't cooking the way ai thought. Z did enough to stay another yr imo and he wants to be here

Bro are you crazy? Paschal isn’t a capable defender? Also Levi?? This was by far his best year after having his back fused together. I think Levi was absolutely a capable defender. Was he all pro or even all conference? No but he didn’t play bad at all.
The reason they love Martin is bc of his ungodly large size. You can’t teach that. I don’t mind him surfing at #53 on the roster. The potential upside is much higher than the downside.
But your take on Z smith is spot on. 11M for an almost elite pass rusher that’s an easy choice. Well worth it. Then imagine him paired with hutch. No brainer. I would really question Holmes at that point.

Lions cutting James Houston is still the dumbest move this coaching staff did all year. He played a great game against Houston. Glenn hated Houston from Day one. Campbell capitulated. Why would you cut Houston, when your bringing people in off the street to play defense? Now that Glenn is gone, I would bring back Houston and Isaiah Buggs.

At least Martin fit a position of need to move up for Vaki never made sense and when Montgomery gets hurt you play Jefferson instead who was on the practice squad.

    • @danBrown-v8v
      @danBrown-v8v 9 дней назад

Vaki is a better back and plays special teams. Jefferson has had like five years to get into the lineup and didn’t. I would feel more comfortable with him taking over for an injury and he catches the ball better.

@danBrown-v8v Yes he is better but you don't trade up into the 4th round for a 4th string back who is a coverage teams specialist. Brad is very savvy with draft strategy, but this pick made no sense.

I would keep Smith Robertson and Anzalone. Brad Holmes made it perfectly clear that he's okay with Jared (Mole patrol) Goff. Moles lose it in bright light! So if I was hooker I would beg to get the heck out of there, go be a star!!!! He's never even going to sniff a super bowl sitting behind goff butt hooker could lead another team there. Extending Jared Goff will be the undoing of Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell. He's got a no-trade clause and even if he didn't who would pay that kind of money for a tier 2 quarterback with zero mobility that withers in the heat? If I were hooker I would go to LA Rams or Las Vegas raiders. If Stafford retires they'll need a star to take his place, Vegas needs him ASAP.

Goff in 134 games a record of87-56-1. 3047 completions in 4646 attempts, for a completion % of 65.6, for 35,058 total yards, an average of 7.5 yards per pass, 222 TDs and 94 interceptions, for a rating of 95.7.

Jared Goff played with a pretty good team in LA that went on to better things, Matt Stafford usually had one or two guys that could play with him and a lot of guys who would have been on practice squads on other teams. But if you like stats here's one for you. Super bowls Matt Stafford. 1 and 0 Jared Goff 0 and 1 that's the only state that counts!

@brianwelsh2810 S0 then Stafford was not a good QB until 4 years ago, when he finally won a Super Bowl. So Stafford in Detroit was worse than Goff. Goff has 2 playoff wins, Got a team to the number 1 seed, while Stafford had no playoff wins, and has never gotten a team to the number 1 seed.

    • @lonnierichter6962
      @lonnierichter6962 9 дней назад

@@brianwelsh2810 Goff has done more in 4 years in Detroit, than Stafford did in 12 years in Detroit, Stafford in 12 years, had a total of 8 wins against teams with a winning record, did not win a division, no playoff wins still has a losing record. Goff already has more than 8 wins against teams with a winning record in 4 years, won the division twice, and got to the NFC Championship game. Stafford in 16 years won 1 Super Bowl, and only 1 other playoff game. Goff in the short time he has been in the league got 1 team to the Super Bowl and lost and got another team to the conference championship game. Both are 5-5 in playoff games.

The Lions success is not due to Jared Goff it's due to the pics that came with him. You saw the real Jared Goff the first year before the Stafford draft picks raised the team up, the Rams trade goff 4 Stafford add a ton of pics and go right out and win a Superbowl, the Lions get phenomenal draft picks and what does Jared Goff do craps the bed. The Rams showed him the door to go to the next level the Lions haven't figured that out yet.

If I recall D you were going to wear a clown suit if the lions met certain benchmarks. Considering they weren’t that far off with a patchwork D line, I think it’s safe to say that with Smith and Hutch at the edge and with Reader and McNeil in the middle that is a very formidable front 4 add to that Wingo Pascal Levi and a few other rotational pieces and that’s a very solid d line. We only saw Hutch and Davenport for basically two games. If hutch had 7.5 sacks in 5 games and Smith had I believe 9 imagine what those 2 guys could do together. We actually have more overall depth on the d line than the O line.

Broderic is not going anywhere. He was a 3rd round draft pick still on his rookie contract, his salary is a bag of chips and take your choice of dip. They thought enough of him to make a trade to ensure they got him. They knew he was going to be a project. Iffy was the same his first 2 years. He was an empty hole on the roster, and then the 2023 season, year 3, he really made his presence known. At the worst Broderick will play out his years on his rookie deal and then not resign.

He was only with the team a year. Was a transfer. That’s why their offense was set up like that. Also had two deep threat WRs that weren’t great at routes and timing.

Almost every defensive player Brad has drafted aside from the great players we already know about, are average at best.

So he’s done a great job at drafting? I mean come on in 3 years he drafted kerby(all-pro) branch(probowl) alim, hutch(DPOY caliber), jack campbell(great linebacker) and terrion Arnold who has a shot at being great…not to mention Rodrigo and Barnes who are both solid lbs and same with iffy who is good when healthy…so that 4 elite players and 5 solid starters in just 3 years you sound crazy

@@PentaB313all those were first round talents. Haven’t seen much consistency from the later picks. St Brown is about it. Mahogany maybe, still not sure how he fell that far. He gets too caught up in guys that interview a certain way and sells his soul for them. We have three of those now taken in the third or forth round giving up other picks. Vaki, Martin and Manu. Only Vaki has really played. Martin appears to be a busy and who knows when or if Manu is ready for a role. Not even sure he can fill the Skipper role next season. Which means we draft or sign somebody we didn’t have to. Everybody has their weakness. Brad has his.

    Levi is mid at best
Paschal is a solid depth piece but not a starter
Brodrick Martin is a waste of a pick.

Wasting picks in the first 4 rds on projects is a waste of a pick.. i.e. Martin hes gotta go.. Levi is usable same as Paschal. Martin..say it again. Getting passed up by 3rd stringers? Unacceptable

Gotta get rid of most of them. Half the guys dont ever play or make any impact.

Get Max Crosby through free agency to pair with Aidan Hutchinson and Za’Darius Smith with Reader and Alim McNeil….Paschal was good too…
    It starts there…
Keep Hooker one more year, keep Glasgow…
    Let’s go after it again!!!!
