Being a New Yorker who lives in the country, I can really relate to this flick. Can't get decent pizza or Chinese food anywhere! 🤣

100% agree. I live in Boston and we use to get good Italian food. Now there is maybe two or three really good places. When I use to visit clients in New York the assortment was dramatically larger. I miss coming into Penn Station and having a wide mix of pizzeria's and hole in the wall to grab a slice.
Chinese food DEFINITELY takes a hit when you leave the West Coast or North East.
My boss and I did a software deployment in South Dakota. She had a desire for some Tiramisu. The hotel raved about this local Italian restaurant. I told her we are in the middle of nowhere are you sure? We went. The Tiramisu was yellow angels food cake, with puff custard in the middle. No rum. Vanilla frosting with the name of the restaurant spelled in coco on the top. She did NOT live this story down.

One of those movies that never gets to old to watch. It came out the same year I graduated High School. And I LOVD it then and STILL Love it, today. Plus, not only is it funny, it is STILL talked about in some Law Schools today. They were, ARE impressed so much, that they still used it to talk about specific things that are or are not allowed in court. Plus, Mona Lisa Vitto. She did an AMAZING job in this movie. Great Post.

10:20 To answer that question, there is no set limit to how many times you can take the bar exam (except 11 states and DC, where you will need to be given special permission to retake depending on the #), it does not affect a candidate's eligibility, and should be known folks should not use that as a judgement, i myself know a few good lawyers who had to take the exam multiple times.

I also love the little subversion of expectations-the audience is set up to assume the woman who said she saw the defendants wasn’t wearing her glasses at the time (thanks to another famous courtroom drama), but it turns out she was…but her prescription was too weak.
I also love how that’s the only time where the judge, who’s otherwise extremely stern & unforgiving, admits he made a mistake and apologizes to Vinny.

Had to stop watching another video to see this as soon as I saw it was uploaded. You folks are gonna love this one.
The Judge is played by the late great Fred Gwynne, who played Herman Munster on the TV show The Munsters. And go easy on him...his first experience of Vinny was to be disrespected by him putting his feet on the Judge's desk...and Vinny not knowing the procedures after the Judge gave him the book was also another huge slap since the Judge actually wrote that book he gave to Vinny, if I am not mistaken. ✌😁
And no...it is not true that the minimum age for execution is 10...as far as I can tell, Alabama has never executed anyone who was under 16 at the time that they committed the crime that got them the death penalty, but that is based on a very quick search.

Toni? Don't let him watch The Wrestler (2008).
If I remember right, John F. Kennedy, Jr. passed the bar on his 13th try. A lawyer can take the bar exam as many times as needed. An M.D. can take the medical licensing exam over and over. Your brain surgeon may have failed it 5 times. But a Ph.D.? I learned the hard way, fail twice and you're gone. Forever.
You might wish to see Ralph Macchio in The Outsiders (1983), based on the popular YA novel by S.E. Hinton, also starring Patrick Swayze, Tom Cruise, Rob Lowe, C. Thomas Howell, Matt Dillon, and Emilio Estevez, directed by Francis Ford Coppola who did The Godfather saga. It was his big break before The Karate Kid.

Whoa! Never had grits??? OMG! I was raised in the south, and grits are a staple! And they're yummy to boot! Some people drown them in butter, but I think that they're best with just a small amount of butter and add some salt & pepper to taste. A couple of drops of bacon grease in the pot of grits helps too.
Marisa Tomei was, is, and always will be a Goddess! There's just something about her that most men find attractive, but it's difficult to explain. She's like a force of nature, but friendly and approachable. At least that's what she portrays in her work.

One of my favorite things about the film is that, while it appears at first glance that the whole town is against these outsiders, in reality, everyone is just living their lives and are actually really nice. The three witnesses end up demonstrating exactly why eyewitness testimony can be very questionable in court-memories are faulty and vision can be obscured. The cops seriously believe that the kids did the murder. The judge is just a stickler for protocol in court, but nothing too far out of the ordinary. The prosecutor actually likes Vinny, and is charmed by his story of how he decided to go to law school. Those fond farewells at the end are all authentic. The only truly malicious antagonist here is the pool hustler trying to dodge paying off his debt.

And it's also a movie where two guys, who look strikingly like our two young fellows, are driving nearly the exact same car, happen to decide to kill the clerk at the store where the other two had *just* shopped. And where a novice lawyer could stall the confirmation of his bona fides for an inordinately long time, even for 1990s Alabama. (And we won't even get into how or why Lisa would be with "My Dad Vinny"). So overall, quite a believable Hollywood script. 😉

"It is possible that the two yutes..."
"...Ah, the two what? Uh... uh, what was that word?"
    "Uh... what word?"
    "Two what?"
    "What?"
    "Uh... did you say yutes?"
    "Yeah, two yutes."
    "What is a yute?"
"Oh, excuse me, your honor... Two YOUTHS."
I love this movie. There's no real bad guy in this movie (except if you consider the real murderers) and once the innocence of Bill and Stan becomes clear, all charges are dropped.
Fun Fact: The misunderstanding between Vincent Gambini and Judge Haller (Fred Gwynne) regarding the two "youts" was in fact a real conversation between Joe Pesci and director Jonathan Lynn. Lynn, who is British, at first had a hard time understanding Pesci's pronounced New York accent. He decided that the routine was quite funny and put it in the film.
Wise Owl Fact: According to director Jonathan Lynn, the eastern screech owl in the scene in the woods was a real owl that had a little prior training so it wouldn't be scared away by the gunfire. The crew got it to open its mouth by giving it little pieces of beef, and artificially induced screeches were added to the film in post production. The owl's reaction to Vinny (Joe Pesci) shooting the gun was authentic and needed only one take.
Law Enthusiast Fact: Director Jonathan Lynn actually has a law degree and insists the film's legal proceedings be realistic. In fact, many attorneys and law professors have praised the film for its accurate depiction of trial strategy and courtroom procedure, especially with regards to presenting expert witnesses at trial. In fact, the film has been screened at some law schools to illustrate courtroom procedures. The American Bar Association's publication, the ABA Journal, ranked the film #3 on its list of the 25 Greatest Legal Movies.

Something to keep in mind that everyone seems to miss about the ending is that, everything that Lisa figured out and testified to Vinny figured out himself. The reason he needed her help is that he could not testify about why the tire tracks could not have been made by his cousin's car, so he needed her to be his "expert" to give the information that he had figured out.💯👍
