The Christmas special we didn't know we needed.
Really like the extended versions of your trips, you're doing Great with it. It may take a couple days to watch one completely, but by then you've posted another ! All good, keep it up !
Dingbats and Yankee's, too funny. For people who know you, know your originally from NY (I think) but you have no accent. Anyone who watches your videos and everyone else's video's fishing from a Kayak KNOW you are the most knowledgeable kayaker out there ! As far as trolling, and I have done a lot over the years, the Juke Saltwater from Berkley is hands down the finest bait I have ever used. The 85 and 100 in a fire tiger or chartreuse have put so many fish in the boat. My bud loves his Clarkspoon's but there too light for my liking, if I use them I put a weight upline to get them down. That fish at 1:36 was a tank ! Honestly I hate keeping anything and hate killing fish. If I'm offshore I will keep a few as I know there is less pressure. You sound pumped, waiting for Meg to get down. My lady was down there for xmas and her whole family got a stomach bug. Keep doing what you do brother and thanks for the videos.
Always fun. Glad that your wife is joining you!
ONCE AGAIN.... FANTASTIC VIDEO!!!! I LEARNED A LOT ON YOUR VIDEO 😃 IM GOING TO TRY AND HIT THE BRIDGES NEXT WEEK 👍 ONLY AN HOUR AND A HALF AWAY 🤙🤙🤙
Giant mutton at the beginning of the video!!!!!You caught me hook, line and, sinker You’re a lot smarter than you think. I just had to watch the whole video. Can’t wait until you next Keys visit, they tend to be my favorite of your fishing video!! Make sure that you spend some quality time with the Wife today Elias. KEEPING ON FISHING BROTHER MAN
Thanks, I appreciate the support - I’m always happy to find a new fish to go after.
I like hearing how you pick your stratagise apart while you are fishing. I love the new format
8:45 good sized bull shark following that mutton in. merry christmas brother
I thought I was the only one to see that. I don’t think my boy saw that
Missed it for sure - not sure how big. Much smaller than the typical profile the Bahia and 7 mile sharks cast 😂
Florida really is a paradise for fishing
Don’t compare yourself. Your videos are awesome and very educative.
I enjoy these! Especially this one compared to a few weeks ago… “people might be confused that I just come out here and catch fish all day, I’m out here for hours” uncut video - nails a grouper and keeper mutton in less then 10 minutes.
Great stuff!
Great video and content. Love the LP videos. You seem to having a great time…good for you. These long videos helped me sit through waiting to get my car serviced.
Thanks so much.
Cheers
Really enjoyed this show,a nice slow pace with your various commentary, keep em coming 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
NICE Mutton! Will feed some thankful souls. Happy upcoming New Year Tight Lines!!
"Who wants to see a 4 hour video trolling?": me. I'm a disabled Floridian living as far away from an ocean as you can in this country. I miss quietly sitting in a boat hunting reds and specks. Not that I dislike your commentary, but I really like just watching you cast and listening to the wind whistle through the lines on the other rods. Please keep this kind of content going.
Appreciate you watching - trying to give a little something for everyone 👍
You did the best you could for that Muttion Snapper.
I like the podcast fishing style !!!!!!!
Zero wind noise. Pretty amazing
Its the next day but MERRY CHRISTMAS🎄 to you and Meg, from your home town BROOKLYN 👊🏾, tight lines bro 🤙🏾
Great video I am a big fan of casting with those hard type lures preferable to me large surface (or shallow water they call them these days) ones you can't go wrong with them
Me as well I always do the cast and fast retrieve with the large rapala surface lure
Have a great holiday season, and a prosperous New Year.
Dude, looked like a big ass hammerhead right next to your kayak when you were bringing the mutton in.
Def some sort of shark
Awesome !
Thank you very much
Why would someone gripe about giving away fish? Sounds weird to me I love giving a grateful person a nice chunk once in a while.
Awesome video love watching these long ones
Hello Elias 🎄🎄🎄
Stop beating yourself over content. I dont normally watch vids over 50 minutes long but this was an exception and I enjoyed it. Real down to earth fishing video, I wouldnt change anything. Well length maybe...
I do that same trolling on the x-raps in shallow and find my best results is using a lazy back and forth swooping motion with rod in hand. Bites are easily 5-1. Looks a little goofy but it definitely works
another great video. Next trip go to west palm and fish the gulf stream right off the beach you are in 100 to 200 feet before you know it. heading to mosquito lagoon next year. then Jupiter for snook and poon, in the old town pdl then going offshore in a boat for pelagic fish. All weather permitting.
There is a kayak fishing channel with a guy that fishes for mutton's with hard lures in 15 to 20 feet of water showing that these fish will come up to take the bite its all about the area and what the bottom is like that sort of thing
A little tip for keeping fish overnight is pack em in cooler packed with ice but add a little saltwater brine. They will keep up to a day and a half and be just fine…..just like ya caught em that day!😎
Pliers straight from Resident Evil.
Don't worry about editing your videos into oblivion. I like the long format stuff, that's real fishing, not just a highlight reel with some B-roll and music.
Brotha I much prefer the longer unedited versions over the shorter edited ones. They are much more realistic that real fisherman can relate to.😎
Nice content, You left a lot of quality questions for other anglers. Without rambling I just recommend scaling any snapper species (Yellowtail negotiable) with the back of a fillet knife before cooking. It makes a difference. Do not chunk for needlefish that is fruitless.
And leave the skin on.
Elias, I am enjoying the uncut videos. While I would agree that a day when you struggle is not as compelling moment-to-moment, it is interesting to watch what you do to get back on fish. One thing I noticed on this video (and a little bit on the previous one) was that when I could, I would pay attention to your fishfinder when it was visible. I might suggest that if you could do it on these long-form videos, if you could display the fishfinder screen in the corner, at least the sonar trace, but not the GPS/map display. It would be fun to watch the marks. On the one from the bridge, I was imagining what an underwater camera would see, though I know it was mucky that day. I am sure there's a reason you don't have an underwater camera.
I also like that when you say, "OK, I'm moving" you cast a few more times anyway.
Do you routinely run into the larger bull sharks? I'd love to take a trip down to FL with my kayak but the sharks are a bit of a turn off.
Yeah it’ll happen….
i'd like to see you find a perfect day where you can go out a ways and try some chum, move when the sharks invade - you should get a king or two if you can get enough nice days - even still so much variety, i think trolling is excellent strategy. maybe even catch a wahoo - if you find the bait usually you will find the fish
Do you get very far down the Keys? I caught a nice Cubera snapper under the collapsed part of the bridge at Shark Key.
Never got that far but I do like all those bridges!
When confidence/intrest starts dropping, you know what to do. 😁 go fish structure with deeper water near by. Especially in the Keys. Especially as the sun gets higher. Love watching this, at first I wasn't sure about the long video, but it's almost like being there. I also don't care about all the fancy editing that others do. It's nice, but it's absolutely Not why I watch fishing videos. It's nice to see actual, true, fishing adventures that we all have and see what others do in certain situations. Nice Mutton! I'd learn to like trolling with fish of that quality. And... who leaves there dirty dishes in the sink for 2 weeks? 😅
I really like the bkk lone diablo hooks instead of trebles on plugs and top water, and also greatly reduces the mortality from treble hooks. Maybe a small size on those smaller plugs would work good without accidentally killing fish
Really cool not to kill everything, especially cool to release the bigger versions of whatever your after! But end of the day taking one for the plate is perfectly fine, no choice in that situation. Trolling paid off, not a big fan of trolling but I try and usually fail! Probably due to lack of effort but I like casting and hunting birds etc….
My old 2016 Outback has a 7" Lowrance Total scan...so a 5 on a kayak is pretty mild...A buddy has a 9" screen on his...I use in line singles on all my hard baits and mostly mash the barbs down on them....but when a fish inhales it doesn't matter, the gills bleed...and the fish will not survive.
I don’t really understand why people would be upset at you for sharing your catch. Aren’t we humans? I always share fish with my friends and neighbors. They always appreciate it and it never goes to waste that way. And it just feels good. My 2 cents. ✌🏼
The bots are running wild in the comments🤣
24 inch Mutton is some of the best fish that swims in the water. I personally prefer Mangrove snapper but Muttons are close.
Elias, there should always be fish around pots, where there are pots there is food, if the fisherman knew his business. You are getting free knowledge from their livelihoods, hopefully !
I am not impressed with the 3d minnow treble hooks. I trolled in the keys and the were mangled after the first fish. Are you replacing what comes in the box with stronger hooks, or did I get the ones made at the end of the shift? Great catch and interesting video.
Using stock ones
Where in the keys would you recommend a first time ocean kayaker go for general fun fishing? I fish with here in Illinois, in the big rivers often. Own a hobie lynx. I LOVE your videos. It looks like it takes the ‘you never know what’s gonna bite’ to a whole other level than here and looks like it would make a fun couple weeks vacation
Id start on the little bridges and maybe some Atlantic side beach launches a half mile out or so until you get a feel for it.
@ thank you very much! I appreciate this info!
Are you using an App for these coral structures or are you marking as you find them?
When it’s shallow just look for dark patches that’s honestly the best way. But Google maps & Navionics help too
Is it supposed to be in fast forward? Haha if not y’all should watch it in ff.. it’s kinda funny
lol my playback speed got changed somehow
That motor noise all the time would drive me nuts. It doesn't have a silent mode?
I don't think they make a silent mode for kayak motors 😂
I think you want a sailboat
What’s your fav reel? And
what’s the best bang for buck reel?
Look through Elias' videos from two years ago or so. He did a review of several reels he'd been using. One spinner that was praised in terms of value was from Okuma.
@ 2 yrs is a long time and he has so many reels/ combos now
@@Waterboy516 He's gone through quite a few ... they take a beating ... the Okuma reel in question was a $50 item ( 2500 or 3000 ) that handled Jack Crevalie runs inshore. Elias mentioned that if he still did charters, that would be the reel he'd use for customers.
I like the new Fuego LT and the Spinfisher VI as value reels. Don’t have a particular favorite all around reel.
@ I have a fuego 3k the second time I used it, I hooked up to a 15 inch black fish and bent the handle 😂 I have a spin fisher as well but it’s to dang heavy I have that on my surf caster.
So far my fav reels are the stradics and back bay. I think my next reels going to either be a vanford or a ballistic not sure which to choose
👍🏻😎✌
Anything treble and kayak the barbs get crushed! Couldn’t care about the fishes welfare I care about my own! 😊 getting them out of my hide is a lot easier withe the barbs crushed? Cheers man good fishing
Hey Elias, there’s no shame in being concerned for the fish. Any angler is a steward of the fisheries at their best, so believing in letting big breeders go back healthy just comes with the territory.
Sorry boss. Love your content, but don’t have time to edit your videos for you.
It is what it is! 😂
Why don't you guys ever brain spike the fish you are going to keep. For one it puts the fish out of its misery quickly and it stops the fish from thrashing about all over the place risking the fisherman getting hooks in the fingers
Pretty tough to do on the kayak and in my lap but maybe you can show me how someone does it without a spot to lay the fish on?
@@EliasVFishing I'm Australian and maybe we think differently. I have seen brain spiking done on a kayak. Where there is a will there is a way. I've seen a couple of people get hooks in their fingers recently and I felt their pain. But anyway. Keep doing things your way mate. What ever rocks your boat
Elias if want some fast action on some nice ‘Cudas down in the Keys in the waters you are fishing try using a Cuda Tube just blind casting and reeling as fast as you possibly can! They can NOT resist those tubes bro!😎. Try it……you’ll like it!
Have done a few vids with those tubes. Not many cudas of size around this year right now.
@ yea youre right. Come Spring and Summer those are def the go to for big Cudas though!
Good plug selection for the muttons you are on the money
Thanks 👍
treats for trolling Yozuri Crystal minnow Deep
Don’t become drone flying dbag I don’t like those guys really
Hahaha! Thank you for that.
