    FYI, you have some incorrect information in this video. The A7CR has a 1.24x crop, the A7C II is 1.5x crop for 4k60

      Good catch, I didn't notice while editing but you're right, it's a much more significant crop (1.5x) than the 20% I said--pinning for others to see!

    Nicely done! I bought the a7Cii as it’s by far the better hybrid camera, has a nice EVF when your outside in sunny weather, never overheats when I do long form videos like concerts or stage-plays or weddings and has more custom buttons as well as sharper 4K videos due to it’s downsampling from 7K resolution to 4K. Brilliant and I LOVE IT!!!

    Hey😊,
    I had a ZV e10 for my first 2 years of videography and content creation and I think I used it to the limit(i hate the 8bit, the low light and the stabilization issues). Thats why I'm about to buy an upgrade and I'm struggling to decide between fx30 zve1 and A7c2. I do know all the specs already but still not sure about what to pick. The fx30 is more reliable and marketed as a small fx3. I would get the fx3 if I had the money for it (so not for now). Then the zve1 has better stability and way better low light performance and dynamic range but seems to overheat. Also I don't need so many vlogging features like cinemativ mode or easy to use overlay and the question is if more low light is more important than having more lights with the fx30. I do know my craft to some degree by now. Do you have a good advice? I know with good lighting everything can look good also apsc but buying and carrying these lights is also to consider. And there are also the a7cii and a7iv with other cons. Thank you for you good videos in gernerall by the way 😊I hope you can help me. (I'm definitely video first person, and I do videos style like gawx and life if riza)

    As a hybrid shooter, 90% stills vs 10% video, I will go with the A7CR. Why mess with only 33mp when you can get really sharp photos with 61mp. Comes in very handy when a picture is cropped yet retains excellent picture quality. I see many are loving the ZV-E1 for both streaming, making YT videos and street photography/video. Though I have to say the person who loves stills, the A7C2 or the A7CR is the way to go. If you are into video, don't hesitate and get the ZV-E1. You will love it.

      I wholly disagree.
      Most photographers shoot thousands of photos for every live action event. Doubling my file size for resolution that I cant utilize outside of extreme cropping sounds awful.
      And let's address the heavy cropping, seasoned professionals don't care for this. 33MP Gives you plunty of resolution to shoot a little wide and crop for perfect composition while leaving you with enough resolution to resolve any large format print. If you're commissioned with to go bigger with speciality projects, the pay for such jobs will justify you buying an R series camera.

    As I’m looking at shooting for real estate and need low light performance since the ac7ii crops in 4k60 which is how I shoot real estate for slow mo, would that have the same low light performance as a apc crop sensor camera? Say the fx30 in 4k60 which doesn’t crop in ontop of its apc sensor.

    Hi, in terms of sharpness and colors for photos and videos, which one do you think is better? The Sony 7Cii or the Sony ZVE1?

    • @DavidZhou
      @DavidZhou  8 месяцев назад +1

      You’re going to get “sharper” photos with the a7C II because it has a 33 megapixel sensor vs. the ZV-E1’s 12.1 megapixel sensor. So you’re going to get more details (and ability to crop/zoom on your photos) with the a7C II.
      If you’re not planning on heavily color grading your videos, they’re going to look similar between the two cameras.
      The ZV-E1 however can shoot video in S-LOG3 at 12,800 ISO with very little noise, making it the better choice for lowlight and it’ll have slightly better color latitude when color grading, so if you’re planning on diving really deep on the video side, the ZV-E1 is quite a beast.
      But if you’re looking for an overall more versatile camera, I’d go with the a7C II.
      Hope that helps!

    Is the significant rolling shutter on the A7Cii improved when you're cropped in 1.5x? I'm shopping for a new camera to replace my old D600 and I've narrowed it down to the ZV-E1 and A7Cii. My primary use cases will be 20-30 min interviews, a bit of cinematic work at various go kart tracks (both of people in the paddocks, vehicles, landscape, and the go karts themselves), webcam/streaming, and portrait photography. My big concern in going with the A7Cii is losing the 120fps slow-mo capability of the ZV-E1, but on the flip side, having a 33mp sensor would allow me to ditch my D600 since I could take pictures (at the track and during interviews/portrait sessions, etc) with A7Cii. I'll be getting a Tilta cage setup for whatever camera I choose. I do like the fan for the ZV-E1 (which doesn't seem to be available for the A7Cii...I guess it really doesn't need it?)
    I really hate these trade-offs. :)
    What lens would you recommend for walking around. I like the idea of the 16-35mm, since on the A7Cii in 60fps recording, I'd get a 24-52mm lens but I also like the 24-70mm 2.8 and perhaps getting a fast prime wide angle for walking around + streaming.

    • @DavidZhou
      @DavidZhou  10 месяцев назад +1

      I don’t think cropping will help with rolling shutter. It will gain the benefit of 33MP but yeah, you will lose out on some video features if you choose the a7C II.
      The a7C II really doesn’t need a fan (but can accept the ZV-E1 one from Tilta, since all of the LCD wells are basically the same.
      16-35 would be better if you want more wide angle shots (good for streaming, action shots like go karting if you’re on the track, etc.), but 24-70 gives you more range and reach (better for portraits, interview, shooting action from a bit more of a distance). Personally I’d go with the 24-70 just because it’s a bit more versatile (and just pick up like the Viltrox 16 1.8 as your wide prime).
      TBH, a7C II may suit you better if you want just one camera for photo/video, but if you’re ok with eventually picking up a second camera for photo or continue to use your d600, the ZV-E1 is a really underrated video camera.
      Hope that helps!

      @DavidZhou  10 месяцев назад +1

      @Digitalfiendscom if you DID get both… you’d have two really capable cameras and could do it all 🥴 maybe start with the a7C II since you want photo capabilities and then if you feel like you’re really missing out on some video features, pick up the ZV-E1 after that? I'd say that even though the zv-e1 is marketed as the more video centric camera, the a7c2 is the better one - also for video.
    Because... Overheating. Are you getting the shot or not. Or even more important - can you rely on getting the shot?
    A grainy shot is better than no shot.
    So this kinda leaves the zv-e1 in a position where it can only be used for small, and not important b-roll. And for small clips of 120p 4k.
    Let's say this still is an important part of your workflow. But since you're still going to need another camera that doesn't overheat while recording video, you're probably better of just getting the a7s3 if the extreme video specs are important. For me.. I'd always pick the a7c2. Much better value for money and much more utility imo.

    • @DavidZhou
      @DavidZhou  9 месяцев назад +2

      If you’re looking for an overall better camera, I’d say the a7C2 edges out the win just because it’s more versatile-but I still wouldn’t discount the ZV-E1, I’ve only ever had it overheat on me in baking hot, direct sun shooting scenarios, but out of 15+ YT videos and 10+ client shoots I’ve shot with it since this video, it’s only overheated on me once. I still don’t recommend it as a main cam if you have the budget to get the a7S3, but otherwise it’s a killer B-cam to match your A-cam footage and it’s great for a compact solution for max video quality when you’re trying to run the smallest setup possible!
      Your point still stands and I don’t disagree with it though!

    Hey mate -- how sure are you regarding the C2 being better for streaming over the E1? It's such a frustration to me that a £2k+ camera has this issue. What's different about the C2 body regarding this? Thanks so much

    • @DavidZhou
      @DavidZhou  Год назад +2

      It seems the ZV-E1s processing is a little bit more intensive resulting in higher heat output. Again, anecdotally, the ZV-E1 has overheated on me both times I streamed with it while the a7C II did not (in test environments).
      There are workarounds that will allow the ZV-E1 to stream without overheating but the a7C II is good to go out of the box. Definitely frustrating, like you said. Hope that helps!

    Amazing video David… I’m in the market for a second camera and I’m torn between these two exact cameras right now..
    I like the ZVE1 but I wish it had a slightly higher MP count maybe to 24MP so you’d have better quality photos. Also I can’t get over the cheap body and potential overheating issues for a £2000 camera… if the A7CII had better rolling shutter, 4K 120 & a larger hdmi port it’d be an endgame camera for me

    I still pick A7CII instead of ZV-E1 for video shooting for 70% outdoor work, because it had super 35 crop mode, which is easier for run and gun situation like events shooting or wedding that you might not know what will be happen next forever, ZV-E1 sensor is great, specs are great inside a small camera body, but however the potential overheating issue is a extreme downside, It just can't give me enough confident to use during work, nor the clients... for proper work might consider A7S3/FX3 better with no overheating at all, but I think I will defintely wait for A7S4 or FX3II in the future when they have the AI focus features and Dynamic active features, because now A7S3 been 3yrs old already since it released.
