Sadly i have to agree with Gamers Nexus on this and Ltt needed to be called out for it. Pushing quantity over quality is a risk in every business and more so in this one. The testing of a product on a video card it was no designed for was wrong regardless of the results and shows that things have gotten of the rails abit. Yes the product could still do a bad job with the 3090 and be a waste of money but at least standards on you end remained as they should. Yes Steve is your friend but if your friends don't warn you when it looks like you making a mistake then who going to before its too late? Sometimes we need to step back and we compromise our standards for the sake of time and money? It sure looks like to me and though i agree that product would likely been a waste either way i still would have done it the right way.
I've noticed inaccuracies over the years and this has made me tell friends and inexperienced people for "Well, LTT is more quantity over quality," and to take their figures with a grain of salt. And to definitely not take it as gospel. I've actually defended LMG in conversation against my director at work who says, "Linus is a F***ing idiot," (to be fair, my director's a bonafide polymath who has an allergic reaction to BS so I think he got a string of bad videos and it turned him off forever.) So GN isn't the only one to have noticed this issue with accuracy; and I'm annoyed that Linus doesn't own the fact. Well, I mean, Linus talks about how they're not perfect, so I guess that's a way of showing /some/ humility. But buddy, you gotta just own the fact that you're trading quality for quantity. It's just a thing that happens. And it sucks because the algo knows ONLY quantity, and the Latest Thing. It's not like going to stop watching LMG content, but it makes me trust it ... well, even less than I already did. How do I put it... LMG is my filler content? When there's nothing else, I watch it, because it's the most plentiful. It's like finding a McDonald's. I'm hungry, but I don't wanna put in effort. There's a McDonalds on every corner, but I might have to look longer or wait to have a better burger. So in this way, LMG is like McDonalds. There's a lot of them everywhere. It'll keep you from going hungry. But a strict diet of McDonalds isn't the healthiest. And another thing, it's not like I don't think the hearts in the wrong place all the time. LMG puts a lot of right to repair stuff in people's faces which is really good. But because I really REALLY want LMG to be able to build all these cool testing facilities. That way, maybe some day, partner with manufacturers to slap a certified sticker on stuff so I KNOW it's not garbage. That's what I want, and I think that's what LMG wants, judging by their past content. But good testing TAKES TIME, algo be damned. Good data is the unfashionable part of this job, But it's the part that actually matters.
Same here. I stopped watching LInus and their channels a while back because their quality just dipped too much. What made it even more annoying was when it became clear they were adding to their video workload by jumping on trends (like cheap handheld emulation consoles) instead of devoting that time and manpower to making fewer but better quality videos. Stayed subscribed incase they got back to being good again. This BS got me to unsubscribe.
["The GeForce RTX 3090 Ti Founders Edition design clocks in with a GPU temperature of 73.6c and Hot Spot temp of 81.9c" - osgamers]. A comment posted by LTT states that with a 4090 (non supported) cooler achieved a temp of 87c so a reduction of 20c that would be a massive improvement in comparison to the less hungry 3090ti however, I understand where Linus was coming from, it's very pricey for any kind of water cooling block so the outcome would've been the same.
2:33:58 "It's super clear that not everyone in the creator space handled that....super professionally". Uh yeah, **you** handled the situation extremely unprofessionally and that created the situation in the first place. To then criticize how it was covered as "unprofessional" is absurd.
It would be so funny if for april fools next year; linus sits on the right side of the screen and luke sits on the left side and they pretend like nothing is wrong
The problem isn't that gambling exists and is out there. The problem is that gambling exist, is out there, and is being allowed to masquerade as something other than gambling.
Firstly the masquerading and secondly the highly insufficient care offers (self ban, community care, mental health services) Prohibition intensifies drugs (including speeding up gambling) and the secrecy makes it more difficult to build community resources. I don't miss access to much currently illegal things (including all online gambling in my state/most of the country) but it's hard to see interventions (proven effective) also missing
it's so bad. Lootboxes just do whatever they want but Gamefreak removed the Casino games from Let's go Eevee & Pikachu to not get Age restricted. I learned that Gambling is organized by the bad Guys in Pokemon Red when I was a little kid. What gets Regulated? A remastered Pokemon. Obviously not Gems such as fifa.
@@PanoptesDreams sorry, but no! Modern gambling exploits these instincts, but it is not the same. That's like saying fast food is healthy, because humans have eaten for as long as we exist.
Every single person at LMG has the power to fire Colton. On the employee conduct brochure, the first line specifically says: If you see Colton in the building, ask if he is fired. If no, fire him. If yes, rehire and then fire him. (Edited cuz I'm an idiot)
19:40 I agree with the take on the state of Hollywood. The whole “no one goes to the movie theaters anymore” seems like a self-fulfilling prophecy. Traditional studios see success of Netflix -> traditional studios decide they want to create their own Netflix clone to make sure they don’t miss out -> Studios start pumping out [low quality] productions at record pace to fill their streaming service -> Studios are flabbergasted why people don’t want to see [low-quality] movies in theaters -> Studios declare movie theaters dead. Instead of pumping out sequels like Fast and Furious 11 just to have them unceremoniously dumped on their fledgling streaming service. Maybe focus on original storytelling and high quality filmmaking and I’ll be happy to spend a night at the movie theater. Oppenheimer was great, BTW.
Oppenheimer was packed. Sound of freedom was packed. Avengers end game was packed. If they make quality movies the theaters have people shoulder to shoulder.
It's felt like this for a long time, most movies have been boring and feature incredibly overused tropes. When I went to see Oppenheimer, all of the ads felt like movies I've already seen but with different actors. Why can't movie directors make two different feeling movies? Why can't we have engaging storytelling anymore? Most movie directors seem to follow a template that makes their story incredibly predictable, which is fine for an action movie if you're 12 years old and like explosions, but it's horrible for something like a detective movie such as the knives out movies. Side note: why are they so highly rated again? I could roughly guess the plot from the beginning, as they're just following the same storytelling template as the last jedi. Using a template once can make the story interesting, using the same one three times in a row means you're creatively bankrupt. Sure, it's not the typical Hollywood template, but if you make it your brand as a director then you're less of a creative dude and more like an uncreative hipster, one who doesn't do the same thing as everyone else but who still does the same things as himself.
Exactly. Also these darn rereleases everywhere. Just make original movies, jesus christ man. I can guarantee you a well made new disney animation would make millions in seconds instead of these garbage real live remakes that novody wants or needs.
The reason he's worth $100 million is because he doesn't just throw money away. It's obvious that you're broke and still live at home, which is why you don't understand that concept.
Regarding having community members pre-reviewing videos: don't forget confidentiality otherwise literally every script may be leaked online. Also, how do you vet community contributors to let them into the system: people who "know" probably don't have the time do contribute more than a one-off when watching an already published video and people who have all the time may not have the expertise. All i can say is "best of luck" with this very difficult issue!
Seconding all of this. Fact checking is not a very practical thing to crowd-source. Mostly anyone who's any good at it will already have other commitments and will need to be paid a decent wage if they're going to set aside the time. If the plan is to pay something paltry like 50 cents per error, I don't think LTT is going to get the results they're imagining. I could see fans of the channel with expertise and a little time to spare being willing to chip in for a nominal rate, and _maybe_, even with all the extra community management and accounting work that would entail, that might still work out cheaper than just hiring more or more experienced staff for proofing content. But I really don't think the 50 cent idea has any chance of working out.
I don't think I've ever seen such an amazingly chaotic and perfect sponsor segment as this one for backblaze, with linus just trying to talk through it and the videos just keeping on shouting through it, really conveys the stress and helplessness of going through a storage crisis
If they paid for that sponsorship video, for which they are pulling the content from, and not misrepresenting its content, I don’t see how they are wrong legally speaking. There would have to be some type of specific wording added in case of a break up.
For him to get pissy that they’re quoting his public views on their good products is completely wrong. There’s only 2 answers here: Linus made a public comment and Anker can quote it or Linus made up a comment because Anker paid him, they can still use it but he has 0 credibility when reviewing anything ever again
Just own the mistakes and errors in production make an actual effort to do better. It's not hard, someone in your PR camp just thinks it is. We'll respect you more for addressing and fixing the problem than denying there is one at all.
Next LTX needs a Smart Line system. So people can enjoy more walking around, doing stuff, chilling and engaging than waiting on the line hoping to be lucky enough to have a good conversation with the person in front or behind you for one hour.
QR Queue? (tho QR has it own kind of jeopardy like everything...) maybe a AMP LTX web-app? you don't need a full app but if the convention visitors save it, it works like one... also local version of the LMG store...
Are you talking about virtual tickets? I was thinking the same thing, and maybe in the future you could choose the order of the things you really want to do to the ones you could skip.
48:35 Funnily enough, xQc was incredibly close to testing the fair use reaction content argument in court 2 years ago when he reacted to the Olympic Games on stream and his stream was taken down and he received a temp ban from Twitch for it. xQc's response to that was that he was going to take the Olympic Games to court as it was fair use BUT he ended up not going through with it (because OBVIOUSLY he would've lost the case)
> he ended up not going through with it This is literally false - he did counter claim the DMCA request (allowing him to get unbanned mere hours later on twitch instead of two days) and there are two responses to a counter-claim - to sue you (which he was anticipating) or to ignore it - and they ignored it, and it's like he was never DMCA'd in the first place, so your tongue-in-cheek "he chickened out because obviously he would've lost" does not hold. Although I agree that it's stupidity and not bravery lol. OTOH he has tons of money (even then) for lawyers and shit so it'd have been a spectacle (which, again, he was kind of anticipated it to be)
@@necauqua I never said that he did or did not counter claim the DMCA request as it wasn't necessary information - I said he ended up not going through with taking them to court... (a thing he had stated on camera that he was going to do). Also I never said anything about that he "chickened out". What even is the point that you're making?
@@AlpakaWhacker you said "ended up not going through with it" with a diminishing tone implying he bragged that he was going to, but then didn't - "chickened out" as I said - and it was a very simple and obvious connotation, stop playing dumb and pretending you didn't mean that, this is so annoying. How is counter-claim not a necessary information when it's literally the free cause for them to sue him that he just handed out?.. And no, he did not state that he'll take them to court on camera - so.. also stop lying?. I had to search and watch a few clips to make sure - he only said that he counter claimed and at their will they could sue him in response and it "could get crazy and cost millions, but it's a cool move". "My point" was that he made his decision to get sued (by counter-claiming), the ball was in their park to do so, and he did not change the decision last minute (like you implied) - it was their decision to not sue him and let that DMCA claim get lifted 🤷 I'm not even defending him specifically, not that big of a fan to just deny facts or whatever, and that situation is indeed super-dumb - I'm just annoyed at you for (and this sounds fucking stupid but that's just what you did) spreading misinformation (at least according to my own faulty memory) lol hey you've just actually read through yet another one of my pointless essays, you can buy yourself a cookie now 🎉
Linus: Take it from an experienced person in the "controversies" because outsiders try to foster a toxic work environment. And they love to publish stuff that was off the record. Tim is enthusiastic, and he likes working in the industry. He just got a lesson that he will always remember. I was there once, I stood in front of the board to explain what had happened. Why one of my staff had overstepped their boundaries and our competition was all too happy to rake us over the coals. In the end we all NEED to learn, to forgive, to "shake it off".
@@Freestyle80 you couldn't be more wrong, Hardware Unboxed does very good work, their my go to for monitor reviews, and I often go back to their GPU reviews due to how they provide an overall average of performance compared to a similarly price GPU
The new CEO needs to have a “see me in my office” moment regarding this situation if he hasn’t already. Linus just seems to be in the wrong here, which is exactly what “the guy who has a proven track record of being able to manage [linus]” (paraphrased) should be suited to dealing with.
Likely yes. its not been done with malice or any ill intent but mistakes where made. He also failed to understand Steve was trying to help and if you do something in public your going to get called out in public. I seriously doubt he wanted those comments coming out about Steve and Gn but as Steve pointed out its shows part of the problem. If there was someone there with knowledge reviewing the videos this would have never happened along with the other huge review mistakes. Also if you testing products and spent a lot on money to do so you would want to test things properly so people can trust your reviews and not with hardware it wasn't designed for. Lots of mistakes and the toon deaf response was the biggest.
About the lines with creators, one of the best one I did, it was "forbidden" to take photos/selfies, someone was there to take the photos for everyone and then, they were uploaded on the creator's website. No time wasted for people to take out their phone, search the camera app and so on, instead, guaranteed quality photos (they took at least 3 photos with everyone)
Anker by the way, isn’t even famous in China, Ugreen is. So they kind of relying on the western converges. You might able to send them a cease and desist, which should made them take it down in the western outlets.
I believe most of you coming to this video currently are looking for 2:33:25 Linus had just finished talking about how he did not agree with how Tim addressed the testing of LTT Labs in comparison to other fellow tech youtubers. Linus had then further gone on to saying how he is not a fan of community "competitiveness" to other tech youtubers, (i.e. being a Gamers Nexus stan only, or a JayzTwoCents stan only) saying that they are all on the same team, the learn from one another and are there to support one another. Different comments in the live chat (not sure if he was looking at RUclips, Twitch or Floatplane) we're mentioning in general "What about the "Trust me bro" situation?" in reference to Steve from Gamer's Nexus not support their original stance on a "no warranty, just trust me bro" towards their new upcoming backpack. Linus then begins addressing those comments in the live chat starting at this time stamp above, dismissing any sort of "drama" that may start from such comments. And yet here we are... :) PS: Since that time, Linus walked backed his stance and comments toward the "trust me bro" incident after major community backlash, and they now have warranties on such products, including that backpack.
Also note that tiny the part of this section used in the GN video is edited to cut what Linus actually said in half (literally mid-sentence) - and misrepresents what he was saying.
Linus has been double talking for years, clearly he appeals to his audience and weighs heavily on his abundantly clearly fake 'nice guy' image. He then goes on to talk about an "Us v. Them attitude thats brewing right now" Linus are you that concieted as to not remember that you started the idea of "healthy competition" in the space when you introduced Labs? Linus initiated it then failed and then lied about the circumstances, repeatedly. I've watched ltt for almost as long as it has been around my children now watch his videos but ultimately we don't purchase or disregard a product we are interested in based on ltt recommendations. If he talks about a product that catches our attention we go search the manufacturer for product specification and then decide, and if it is a benchmark we go to GN for as close to real world results in 1 concise location. If we are actually interested in purchasing the processor or card we look at multiple comparisons. Labs is looking more and more like a money pit that wasn't needed, should've concentrated on news, reviewing products correctly and all the great entertainment value projects from the past. Basically stay in your lane how much food do you really need to survive anyway. Cheers for healthy competition in the tech review space! 👍
im a low budget gamer and im really sad for what is going on but i dont want to be misinformed about something, i dont have so much money to buy. i really like you guys. ive been a avid watcher since im a highschool student.... you guys help me to budget my rig... slowdown guys i can watch ltt videos twice a week. dont rush. i love you guys
You need a static camera for the selfie line .... like a theme park sort of system. you take the photo then collect your photo after, online, via the app , QR code or whatever. You could get through many selfies that way with consistent results.
I also do not see the damage it even hypothetically bring, but it's good that Linus talked about it anyway My favourite quote from this ordeal was Linus' "Tim wasn't hired as a PR." Which completely sums up this whole thing. That was just Tim's opinion as an engineer.
@chutcentral I didn't see it as discipline on WAN. I saw a leader explaining to a wider audience what happened. But obviously, I'm not Tim, so his opinion is really the only one that matters on the subject.
I laught my ass off every time Linus goes to say something and Luke either looks at him like "don't do say it, don't say it, don't say it" or look around the room like "how the hell do i stop this guy!!!!" You guys are awesome! Thanks.
About the LTX. The really interesting part that made me want to be there from the videos was the keyboard switches laid out, the reaction stuff, the HDR, the high Hz monitors - since many of these things are really about feel and the value you get vs paying just the most for the best. And having at all at one place is really cool and it only got better with all the surrounding things. Interactivity is really the great gem of an idea for the event.
Been lucky enough to interact with some of their team members, very talented and passionate dev team. Really happy to see them do so well for themselves :D
Wasn’t a huge fan of the LTX WAN show audio quality but you guys did AMAZING making the people at home feel like we were at the show! Felt all the energy from you guys
I used to not need them as i'd just watch the whole show. Now timestamps are mandatory as i'll be skipping anything that doesn't interest me (including most of merch messaged even if there are some gems in there). The show is just so long now it's unwatchable.
Maybe that'd be an incentive to do it on time every midnight between 2 am-9 am. For now though, I'm prioritizing sleeping and taking care of my health above voluntary work. Thanks for being patient, a bit until timestamps are posted. :)
Don't know how he was digging himself deeper in this one? Honestly this point I don't even know how people still call it a controversy, actually no I do know the people who call it a controversy. You just see Linus as a failure and not acknowledge the fact that as far as I can tell, he runs one of the biggest media companies on RUclips
One of the greatest issues with our making allowances for people to engage in clever obfuscation and/or lying in general society is that the subsequent search for truth wastes so much of society's energy and effort.. it inevitably leads to many people becoming too tired to care.. making things worse.
For Baldur's Gate, have you taken in account that this is the summer school break in many European countries and many adults do take most their paid leave at this period ? Even those without kids. (Smarter kidless people take their summer vacation in june or early september.) To the point this is nearly impossible to get a job other than a summer job in August because nearly all the HR staffs are on break.
@@proximiteaSure, but way fewer workers get actual vacation time in the US. 4-6 weeks a year is the minimum standard throughout most of the developed world and they absolutely take that leave.
Very much this. I have 3 mandatory weeks off during the summer(work for an educational institution, so they need time off to somewhat line up), and still got one more week of this. Probably gonna be filled with a lot of Baldur's gate 3. It has been fricking amazing so far. Very nostalgic as it reminds me of the good old games era.
While Linus is the founder and former CEO of the LTT brand as a whole, his face in particular and his personal words are not associated with any brand-exclusive business deals and never have been, unless specifically consented for by Linus himself. If he demands that his photo shall not be broadcasted on these company websites, and some written material is redacted to affirm the current-day standings and context rather than old ones that are lacking context, then there absolutely is legal merit to demanding they take it down or alter it in a way that it's clear that the association is with the LTT brand alone, and that it is not representative of the current day views. You have already given them months to sort this. I would not hesitate even a day with demanding they cease their use of your personal image and words from this very day, and threaten them with legal consequences if they do not comply within 24 hours. Zero tolerance. Law is fully on your side.
I am happy "react content" topic comes back with more negativity around it, this and "right to repair" are my personal favourites to change in the future, at least now. Very small changes with massive consequences that are only beneficial for viewers, creators and customers.
One of my favorite streamers spent over 3 hours reacting to a 10 minute announcement video and the audience went nuts. It was one of the most entertaining streams I've watched. However, WarGaming makes it kinda easy since they're always trying to set the new world record for lies per minute.
I work as editor for a website and we refuse 1000/+ $ deals for sponsored articles with backlinks to gambling platforms. Well. At least we used to. It's been harder and harder to refuse as our concurrent eagerly accept. I put as much pressure as I can to hold our position, but money is money.
Re: Anker - You have moral rights over your likeness, so they need to take the photo down. But you took their money to say their words so they can continue to quote the things you said publicly forever. To quote my old man: You play the role, you pay the toll....
I guess Anker is laughing at you for how you railed them for this, but when presented with another issue you’ve played their card and it’s backfiring so much.
The solution to your script review issues could come from software development: When someone implements something, they first put it up for review before merging it into the codebase. Someone senior, which is familiar with the part of the codebase the changes touch, goes through it to make sure it‘s good. It works out well for keeping up quality. The same could be done for scripts: at every stage you want it reviewed, it‘s assigned to someone else on the writing team that knows about that particular topic. If it‘s a Linux video, assign Emily, for example, to review it. Now this means the writers spend maybe one day a week cumulatively on review, which means you need a few new writers to cover that, but it seems to me like the most efficient and best quality way to do this.
Sounds like a quality assurance team would be useful. The issue is the time crunch you all have for some of these videos I guess. Lot of microtask websites out there, many around quality assurance and bug tests, so you can look into how they do things. Most suck so tread carefully, but might give you an idea of how to execute some of this if you want to work with the community on it.
About the "controversy" A thing many don't seem to understand is that just because what you do is "better" doesn't mean everything else is bad. Something can still be good, even if there is a better option. And most likely, the "better" option is diminishing returns. as for testing to see if you need testing. I bet they run like one benchmark, and if it is within margin of error, it is pretty sure to assume performance is the same, and you don't have to retest all the games.
Regarding the video game resurgence, it seems that maybe some publishers might be catching on that consumers have changed and value different things, and we may finally be seeing a shift in the industry to follow the money.
The Busy Signal thing is 100% PBX-configurators choice. I work at a small ISP/MSP and one of my job functions is to build and manage a custom residential phone offering as well as business "cloud" PBX services (including our office PBX) all using Asterisk and I don't configure conflicting calls to return a busy code, but I also don't directly connect them. I don't know if the user at either or both ends is another PBX with an IVR or menu system so directly connecting users could cause issues, and since we service a specific area many of our customers are also customers of each other so there's plenty enough cases where EXT 100 at BusinessA is calling BusinessB's PBX to talk to EXT 105, while EXT 100 at BusinessB is calling BusinessA's PBX to talk to EXT 102, and if I directly connected those based on just them calling eachother directly by number everyone would be VERY confused. Internally I could 100% do that, like ext-to-ext I'm fairly positive I could convince Asterisk to auto-connect when they call eachother. Man I watched this and everyone said the labs controversy was a non-issue, this is insane, I mean I'm all for labs being a thing and for it to be better than everyone else, but claiming that your results are better than everyone else's and then just pushing out false results in the actual videos is insane and not good at all for anyone, I cannot believe Linus thinks that's ok
That's a really pathetic response, Linus and you know it. You mis-stepped on the "Trust me Bro" thing and being incredibly churlish to your our sponsors when they simply wanted their company name pronounced correctly?
Was so glad to hear you address, creator relationships, two and a half hours into this. I feel like a lot of us viewers were holding our breath to wait and see how "the trust me bro" Controversy would be responded to by you guys. And hearing that while you're disappointed it happened, you're not going to let it stand in the way of your relationship with those creators, is really good to hear.
Hi Linus, here's a thought of how to reduce the mistakes/errors dueot to "growing pains", maybe cut down pumping 200 videos a week, focus on quality rather than quantity until you have processes in place to eliminate/reduce those errors?
1:02:17 my date of birth(when I pause the video)(minus the zero), You guys have been doing it for years, the best advice I got was "don't sweat the small stuff" 🤞 Thank you
LOL @ Linus "legally they cannot arrest them" Are you kidding me ? You can send them a Seize & Desist and request that they remove fraudulent endorsement - technically you terminated your relationship with them ending any legally binding agreements - falsifying endorsements is unlawful - this sounds like a good one for your legal department, send them S&D. Make sure prior to that you have sent them in writing that you terminate all relations to them and no longer authorize them to use your picture, voice, name, etc, to endorse their product. I'm pretty sure this falls under false representation.
You and the team do amazing things Linus and Luke, every great business and team has hurdles. And hurdles were made to be jumped over. You’ve got this ❤
The aggressive sentiment against LTT started from when GN did the video about the warranty and announced their change in how they cover LTT. I think, that GN over-corrected and their sentiment is a little unfair, but that was never an invitation for the community to go crazy, but it's the internet and people will do that.
You could alternatively say that the "aggressive sentiment against LTT" started with the warranty controversy itself, and that when GN made a video agreeing with a considerable portion of the audience, Linus clearly didn't like that. I personally think the "LTT vs GN" sentiment has come along partly from GN being more critical in their coverage of LTT since then, but also from Linus seemingly never mentioning GN unless he absolutely has to. The only times I can remember GN being mentioned on WAN, was when Steve was the one who called Linus informing him about the hack, and this story this week. I did, to be 100% honest, feel insulted by the warranty thing, and as such have tended to view Linus more critically since then. I still think, however, it's unfair for him to say that "apparently some people think we don't like eachother" when that is how he comes off when talking about it. Just my opinion, hope it clarifies a little, hearing from another point of view.
@@kristianskaland2485 well it does make some sense with how LMG is be coming a "manufacturer" but then so is GN... so does LMG should do the same as GN and test the shat out of their shop? undercover shop GN? the reaction with linus making a screwdriver kind of weird TBH
@@kristianskaland2485"seemingly no coverage of GN" Why do they need to cover GN? They don't have to, nor are they an auditor of their piers. It's not like an AMD vs Intel thing, this is a really tough space to work in and the channels work together, no conclusions can be made whether or not they have negative feelings towards each other just because they haven't made content about them.
@@Ravenousjoe I realize now I didn't really word it very eloquently. What I meant is that it seems (to me) that Linus is avoiding mentioning GN where it would otherwise be normal. When he is talking about other tech youtube channels, for instance, he will seemingly go to great lengths to avoid mentioning GN.

Why does RUclips purposely make their site inconvenient? I hate the fact that there’s a “play previous” button on the video but it can’t be used to restart the video. It’s greyed out.
This was an absolute blast. Most fun WAN in a while, even though there were recent good ones. Brought a tear to me eyes several times over. Chaos, goofing off, big tangents, very relaxed. Probably because of being tired lowering inhibitions. Shame one can only give the one thumbs up. 👍
Fun fact: In the US, waiting to assert a claim that you know about can void the claim. It's called the doctrine of Laches, and one of the reasons that can sink your claim is by waiting for the entity you're suing to become richer before you sue them. Imagine, for example, that you know some hot new product is violating your patents, but you wait for them to sell more units so you can claim a higher damage number when you sue. If what xQc is doing is ongoing it's probably not going to apply--and it doesn't get applied very often in general--but I figured I'd throw it out there. If you think you have a case, bring it; don't wait to try to grow the bag.
You have free spells - Cantrips, and every Spell slot from level 1-> has a limited amount of casts(you need either a short rest or long rest) to recoup them, but as you level up you get more casts of each slot depending on your class(because every class is completely different in how they function while similar are mechanically different)
In my current role (in the IT industry), there were about a dozen managers who manage different teams of people who all did the same thing. All but one of them didn't care about degrees, but instead looked for experience, accountability, and responsibility. There was one manager who was all about having degrees.
I just saw the Gamers Nexus video, sadly I have to agree with them on this. Maybe reducing the number of videos and concentrating on quality should be a priority from now on.
For 2:11:15, why not have a dedicated camera take photos. And use the guests access cards to link the next photo being taken. So scan your card, get your photo taken, and it automatically gets sent to your cards attached email address (either later when on a better network, or immediately)
This is a good idea, except more complicated to setup for just a single annual event, and some people will always want them immediately so they can post them to social media.

i don’t even start watching without these. thnx.
Now I can watch! Thanks!
I agree, LTT has became garbage. Never gonna watch videos for an actual review from them again. They lost all of my respect.
It was always just an entertaining show for me, I took very little of what they said as some truth like I do GN
I've noticed inaccuracies over the years and this has made me tell friends and inexperienced people for "Well, LTT is more quantity over quality," and to take their figures with a grain of salt. And to definitely not take it as gospel. I've actually defended LMG in conversation against my director at work who says, "Linus is a F***ing idiot," (to be fair, my director's a bonafide polymath who has an allergic reaction to BS so I think he got a string of bad videos and it turned him off forever.)
So GN isn't the only one to have noticed this issue with accuracy; and I'm annoyed that Linus doesn't own the fact.

The problem isn't that gambling exists and is out there. The problem is that gambling exist, is out there, and is being allowed to masquerade as something other than gambling.
Firstly the masquerading and secondly the highly insufficient care offers (self ban, community care, mental health services)
Prohibition intensifies drugs (including speeding up gambling) and the secrecy makes it more difficult to build community resources.

They went for the easy money and not trying the new IP.
Across the Spideverse as well that movie felt like such a breath of fresh air

I may not go with Backblaze (they don't have a Linux client), but it absolutely convinced me that I need to start sorting out my backup solutions
It really conveys the stress of having your channel's credibility crumble in front of your eyes and you don't have the processes in place to stop it.
Anker needs a cease and desist. I figure they are not allowed to use your likeness and whatever anymore.
If they paid for that sponsorship video, for which they are pulling the content from, and not misrepresenting its content, I don’t see how they are wrong legally speaking. There would have to be some type of specific wording added in case of a break up.

1:46:14 After YEARS of Linus not letting Luke talk Luke FINALLY gets his revenge!
Would have loved to see his court defense...
> he ended up not going through with it
This is literally false - he did counter claim the DMCA request (allowing him to get unbanned mere hours later on twitch instead of two days) and there are two responses to a counter-claim - to sue you (which he was anticipating) or to ignore it - and they ignored it, and it's like he was never DMCA'd in the first place, so your tongue-in-cheek "he chickened out because obviously he would've lost" does not hold.

"My point" was that he made his decision to get sued (by counter-claiming), the ball was in their park to do so, and he did not change the decision last minute (like you implied) - it was their decision to not sue him and let that DMCA claim get lifted 🤷
I'm not even defending him specifically, not that big of a fan to just deny facts or whatever, and that situation is indeed super-dumb - I'm just annoyed at you for (and this sounds fucking stupid but that's just what you did) spreading misinformation (at least according to my own faulty memory) lol

Longer WAN shows with more chaos! This is the way.
Skittles, Fruit Rollups, and gummy worms becoming jaw-breakers 👍
About the lines with creators, one of the best one I did, it was "forbidden" to take photos/selfies, someone was there to take the photos for everyone and then, they were uploaded on the creator's website.
No time wasted for people to take out their phone, search the camera app and so on, instead, guaranteed quality photos (they took at least 3 photos with everyone)
Anker by the way, isn’t even famous in China, Ugreen is. So they kind of relying on the western converges.
You might able to send them a cease and desist, which should made them take it down in the western outlets.
Anker sucks
I believe most of you coming to this video currently are looking for 2:33:25
Linus had just finished talking about how he did not agree with how Tim addressed the testing of LTT Labs in comparison to other fellow tech youtubers.
PS: Since that time, Linus walked backed his stance and comments toward the "trust me bro" incident after major community backlash, and they now have warranties on such products, including that backpack.
That's why you do research and check multiple sources
You need a static camera for the selfie line .... like a theme park sort of system. you take the photo then collect your photo after, online, via the app , QR code or whatever. You could get through many selfies that way with consistent results.
We're back in the league of 3-hour Wan shows.
... in the middle of the night.
😅
I love it. I save it for work on Mondays.
The Labs controversy seems like such a non-issue
'cause it is
I was interested to see an actual controversy.
I also do not see the damage it even hypothetically bring, but it's good that Linus talked about it anyway
My favourite quote from this ordeal was Linus' "Tim wasn't hired as a PR."
Which completely sums up this whole thing. That was just Tim's opinion as an engineer.
@chutcentral I didn't see it as discipline on WAN. I saw a leader explaining to a wider audience what happened. But obviously, I'm not Tim, so his opinion is really the only one that matters on the subject.
Lmfao@@chutcentralyou got a wild imagination bro, unfortunately for your credibility though this video shows that what you said didn't happen
I laught my ass off every time Linus goes to say something and Luke either looks at him like "don't do say it, don't say it, don't say it" or look around the room like "how the hell do i stop this guy!!!!"
You guys are awesome!
Where is the timestamp guy? And we love you. ❤
Really happy for Larian, they deserve it.
1:34:22 Linus giving Luke the present he got so Luke can check it for bombs and Luke being ok with that is a super cute bro moment
They really should pay someone to do the timestamps as soon as the show starts.
This is what got me to stop watching tonight, but then I came back to reply this to you.
Right. This is why I'll only watch last week's show today.
Yep! LTT should pay someone to timestamp. They make enough during the show, and nobody should do it for free, no matter how much they love LTT
The TMB disaster never ends. Linus digging deeper and depper... At this point it is just hilarious
Timestamps guy please show up!
It’s also still summer break for the US
@@proximiteaSure, but way fewer workers get actual vacation time in the US. 4-6 weeks a year is the minimum standard throughout most of the developed world and they absolutely take that leave.
It's also evening somewhere while it's midday in Canada. So people there can play. :)
@@GonePh1shing so yall just sit at home on paid vacation? Sounds pretty lame.
This is definitely one of the most WAN Show of all time
Yes, it's very much a WAN show, one of the many ones that I have watched.
May I ask why ?
@@Aybex97 Tons of topics had been covered
I would even say that this is absolutely one of the WAN shows of all time
I am happy "react content" topic comes back with more negativity around it, this and "right to repair" are my personal favourites to change in the future, at least now.
Very small changes with massive consequences that are only beneficial for viewers, creators and customers.
I'm just so upset that Xqc is backing out of that debate with Matto
Timestamps guy we need you.
Imagine getting annoyed that one of your LTT store prototypes leaked into the community right after you AUCTIONED off somebody else's prototype.
One of my favorite streamers spent over 3 hours reacting to a 10 minute announcement video and the audience went nuts. It was one of the most entertaining streams I've watched. However, WarGaming makes it kinda easy since they're always trying to set the new world record for lies per minute.
We need more coverage on the Google DRM issue that was barely covered last WAN show please.
Linus has graduated from dropping things to throwing things at employees
SOON HE WILL THROW EMPLOYEES
I work as editor for a website and we refuse 1000/+ $ deals for sponsored articles with backlinks to gambling platforms. Well. At least we used to. It's been harder and harder to refuse as our concurrent eagerly accept. I put as much pressure as I can to hold our position, but money is money.
Timestamp guy is the hero we don't deserve, but still get, and appreciate very much.
Re: Anker - You have moral rights over your likeness, so they need to take the photo down. But you took their money to say their words so they can continue to quote the things you said publicly forever. To quote my old man: You play the role, you pay the toll....
I guess Anker is laughing at you for how you railed them for this, but when presented with another issue you’ve played their card and it’s backfiring so much.
ah yes. my weekly routine of watching a 3+ conversion between my favorite elderly couple
Now this means the writers spend maybe one day a week cumulatively on review, which means you need a few new writers to cover that, but it seems to me like the most efficient and best quality way to do this.
would it work for the amout of diferent specialetys on display in the content tho?
@@rubenjanssen1672yes
Long ass script up for review? LGTM!
I'd buy some stuff form LTT, but I live in the EU and the shipping is fucking insane, so that's a big fat no. Sadly.
sigh* Can you not report on us when we do something wrong? That's not very nice. We're only a company.
That Billet Labs review was disgusting.
Standardization fails because it is anti-monopolist.
This D&D and starwars discussion is the first time since WAN show started that I actually skipped ahead.. damn guys.
Couldnt really hear the ad read for back blaze because of the audio from the clips being shown, but good show guys!
Basically they rock lol - LS
About the "controversy"
A thing many don't seem to understand is that just because what you do is "better" doesn't mean everything else is bad.
The one site I had checked had him removed. It was an almost WE DID IT BOYS but not quite
Who else doesn't watch until timestamps appear?
Easier for one of the two users to drop the dialing attempt and pick up the incoming call though.
Linus does have the power to make his album go platinum...
15 or 45 seconds to meet someone? Wtf? Just don't bother. Thats not even speeddating anymore thats just a joke.
That's a really pathetic response, Linus and you know it. You mis-stepped on the "Trust me Bro" thing and being incredibly churlish to your our sponsors when they simply wanted their company name pronounced correctly?
For a beat saber competition the fair way to do it is a fresh install of beat saber with default settings and default songs.
Darkviper did really punch a bee’s nest, what a great guy
Is that the GTA6 voice actor?
Like all legal issues, when it's comes to Fair Use the only accurate blanket statement is "It Depends".
1:02:17 my date of birth(when I pause the video)(minus the zero), You guys have been doing it for years, the best advice I got was "don't sweat the small stuff" 🤞 Thank you
Wan show is probably my favorite ltt/lmg piece of media, its so chill, gives me feelings of watching cartoons as a kid
You just reminded me that I used to pull off my duvet and go downstairs to watch the saturday cartoons..maybe I'll start doing that again for WAN 😁
Selling Something Without Permission Is Stealing - STOP IT
You and the team do amazing things Linus and Luke, every great business and team has hurdles.
@@kristianskaland2485"seemingly no coverage of GN"
Why do they need to cover GN? They don't have to, nor are they an auditor of their piers. It's not like an AMD vs Intel thing, this is a really tough space to work in and the channels work together, no conclusions can be made whether or not they have negative feelings towards each other just because they haven't made content about them.
@@Ravenousjoe I realize now I didn't really word it very eloquently.
What I meant is that it seems (to me) that Linus is avoiding mentioning GN where it would otherwise be normal. When he is talking about other tech youtube channels, for instance, he will seemingly go to great lengths to avoid mentioning GN.
10:07 As someone that just finished GMing a bunch or Star Wars RPG (and Genesys) at Gen Con it’s blowing my mind to hear Luke talk about my favorite RPG system!❤
Artesian Builds is waving
Man i just wanted to say how much I appreciate the WAN show, I love it so much. Have a nice day and see you next week
You have free spells - Cantrips, and every Spell slot from level 1-> has a limited amount of casts(you need either a short rest or long rest) to recoup them, but as you level up you get more casts of each slot depending on your class(because every class is completely different in how they function while similar are mechanically different)
We all know what channel to trust with tech reviews and it's not this one
GN for the win
Total BS and you don't know what you're talking about. 😅
In my current role (in the IT industry), there were about a dozen managers who manage different teams of people who all did the same thing. All but one of them didn't care about degrees, but instead looked for experience, accountability, and responsibility. There was one manager who was all about having degrees.
Timestamps guy.....come back
RE: Anker
Them putting words in your mouth via a sponsored ad read and then using a quote from that next to your face in marketing is hilariously sad.
I just saw the Gamers Nexus video, sadly I have to agree with them on this. Maybe reducing the number of videos and concentrating on quality should be a priority from now on.
Anker was banned from Amazon Germany a few years ago, because they were buying 5-star reviews.
You ever think about the fact that Timestamp guy is like the Avatar, when you needed him most he vanished.
Linus: Why am I the sub?
Luke: that's normal
😂😂
I hope Billet Labs sues you into the ground. I can't believe how you treated them.
That data storage ad edit was pure genious! 😂
Auctioning off a product you dont own and kneecaping and up and coming company though....thats just fine...right Linus
