Managers and people of higher positions are allowed to abuse their workers a lot more freely in a lot of Korean establishments. It sucks for all the people who aren’t as important as them bc they can get treated really terribly
the issue is with the hyung/noona - dongsaeng concept. this is something generally present in all cultures, but not as severe. you need to respect someone older than you by default, owing to their having experienced more of life etc etc. but even so, in many countries, the older one protects and guards the youth, because they're the future. but in korea, this has been translated way too seriously such that the elder is always right. even if that person is just a year or two older, your speech is different ( jondaetmal - 적댓말) and from there, you're immediately bowing down to them. in some rare cases, this makes you sort of the older person's pet of sorts. in a university, the senior would pay for you even if they aren't dining with you.

"계속 잘해주면 되지 않나? 잘해줘도 되죠?" 그렇게 한예리는 윤박에 제대로 폴인럽하고, 팍팍한 생활 속 작은 설렘을 맛보며 행복한 감정을 느끼게 되는데요. 이런 행복도 잠시, 어느날 엄마한테서 연락이 옵니다. 동생이 죽었다고요. 동생의 이름을 부르며 울부짖는 엄마에게 다가가는데, 갑자기 의사가 나타나 동생이 원래 상태로 돌아왔다고 말합니다. 오열하던 엄마의 표정이 멍해지고, 슬픔은 순식간에 절망으로 뒤바뀝니다. 아들의 죽음이 슬펐지만, 아들이 죽지 않음에 더 큰 절망을 느낀거죠. 이걸 본 한예리는 지금 자신의 처지를 뼈저리게 깨닫게 되고, 윤박에게 가선 '나 좋아하지 마요. 누가 나 좋아한다고 생각하면 약해져요. 여기서 약해지면 정말 끝장이예요' 이런 말을 남기고 돌아섭니다. 윤박은 그런 한예리에게 차마 다가가지 못하고, 안타깝게 바라보기만 합니다. 한예리는 어떻게든 지금 상황을 견뎌보려 아둥바둥하고요. 영상 속 지배인은 그런 한예리의 상황을 이용하려 합니다. 취업이 절박한 상황을 이용하는거죠. 자기 말만 잘 들으면 취업을 시켜주겠다며 성희롱을 일삼고, 네가 아직 덜 절박해서 내 요구를 받아들이지 않는 거라며 압박하죠. 이 장면은 참고 참던 진명이 울분을 견디다 못해 결국 폭발하는 장면입니다ㅠ.. 처음으로 자신의 감정을 표현하며 울부짖는 한예리 옆에 저렇게 안아주는 윤박이 있어 다행이란 생각을 하게 만든ㅠㅠ 이 드라마에서 한예리가 온전히 기댈 수 있을만한 사람이 바로 윤박 캐릭터였거든요.
Their body-language is AMAZING! At first he held her so she won't attack their boss. But when the boss left she pushed him a bit so he helf her hand. I expected a tight hug but he gave her space. And then she kinda let him come closer and leaned on him that's when he hugged her.
This drama has raised my standard of male lead generally. Most of the man in this drama treat their woman gently. They know when to give their women some space. This couple is always my favourite.
@@riimong288 님말도 맞는데 윗댓에 쓴 말대로ㅜ너무 결과론 적이라는 거에요 ㅜ 진명이 성격상 지금까지 아주 잘 참아왔음에도 불구하고 저때 터트린거 자체가 진명이의 상태가 어떤지(안좋은상태)를 잘 보여주는 장면이었고, 그 누구도 토닥여주지 못하는 감정을 유일하게 감싸줄수있는 사람이 윤박이라서 그렇게 해주었으면 마음이 한시름 놓였겠다 싶었는데 그렇게 해주지 못하는 장면으로 보여져서 속상했어요.. 저때의 진명이가 필요한건 이성적인 판단보다도 감정적인 추스림이 아니었을까 싶네요

He's her higher-up and pretty much the boss of the restaurant. If she had reported him, SHE would have lost her job, not him. Unfair but that's how it would have played out. That's most likely why she kept quiet all this time and never reported him because she needed the job to pay the family's bills/debts.
I keep coming back to this cause it's literally my favourite scene out of them all. They way she played this role so well, especially here. My guy had me bawling for age. God, i love her acting.
Every once in a while I come back to rewatch this scene. This show was full of great moments and great acting, but I think this scene was the one that stood out the most to me. I remember thinking this is exactly how I'd react when I was so angry I couldn't bear it any longer. I've never been one to express my anger and when it finally comes out, it's just like this. It's so infuriating when you, as someone who doesn't get mad, finally has had enough and explode but yet the other party refuses to acknowledge they might've been in the wrong. Cried so much the first time I watched this scene.
this show was like therapy. what i couldn't face in my own life, i could cry about through jin-myung. the storytelling in "age of youth" was like an electric wire to an exposed nerve. it was so real that it got hard to watch sometimes.
This is probably the most cathartic scene I've ever watched. Considering this was an incredibly stoic character in Jin Myung reaching her breaking point and finally letting loose all her pent up emotions- I got so worked up and was breathing heavily while watching it. I felt like I was going to get a heart attack from the intensity. Incredible acting.
I heard it was like one of the most viewed dramas on tv for like the time segment it was in,. idk. But a lot of people around me has watched this drama and enjoyed it, I don't think its underrated
I always come back here and always end up tearing. Just imagine how many suffered the same situation but didn’t have the courage to stand up and kept it inside, suffering. Those thoughts are just very sad. HMT was amazing, their actors: amazing, everything: amazing. Hoping for a third season. And hoping everyone here have a great day
Esta fue la escena que más me llegó, quería traspasar la pantalla y darle un abrazo y apoyarla!! estaba tan pero tan conmovido que cada palabra, cada lagrima, cada grito que jin myung daba, me daban ganas infinitas de estar a su lado. Lloré con ella!! me sentía impotente!!!!

Random RUclips recommending me this (2019)...I remember watching this scene and how annoyed I was at that filthy manager and how sad/happy I was she finally had enough of that toxic environment and stood up for herself I cried so hard😭😭😭

This is my favourite episode for sure. They fix up their relationship, and she finally stands up to the manager. Every time I watch it my nose gets all stiff and red. I love when they end up hugging each other on the floor. And her screaming to manager makes me happy and sad at the same time!

@@riimong288 님말도 맞는데 윗댓에 쓴 말대로ㅜ너무 결과론 적이라는 거에요 ㅜ 진명이 성격상 지금까지 아주 잘 참아왔음에도 불구하고 저때 터트린거 자체가 진명이의 상태가 어떤지(안좋은상태)를 잘 보여주는 장면이었고, 그 누구도 토닥여주지 못하는 감정을 유일하게 감싸줄수있는 사람이 윤박이라서 그렇게 해주었으면 마음이 한시름 놓였겠다 싶었는데 그렇게 해주지 못하는 장면으로 보여져서 속상했어요.. 저때의 진명이가 필요한건 이성적인 판단보다도 감정적인 추스림이 아니었을까 싶네요

She should've reported him for that, he accused her of stealing, invaded her privacy, put his hands on her and caused her emotional pain. He would've been fired if she did.
He's her higher-up and pretty much the boss of the restaurant. If she had reported him, SHE would have lost her job, not him. Unfair but that's how it would have played out. That's most likely why she kept quiet all this time and never reported him because she needed the job to pay the family's bills/debts.

Every once in a while I come back to rewatch this scene. This show was full of great moments and great acting, but I think this scene was the one that stood out the most to me. I remember thinking this is exactly how I'd react when I was so angry I couldn't bear it any longer. I've never been one to express my anger and when it finally comes out, it's just like this. It's so infuriating when you, as someone who doesn't get mad, finally has had enough and explode but yet the other party refuses to acknowledge they might've been in the wrong. Cried so much the first time I watched this scene.
this show was like therapy. what i couldn't face in my own life, i could cry about through jin-myung. the storytelling in "age of youth" was like an electric wire to an exposed nerve. it was so real that it got hard to watch sometimes.

This is probably the most cathartic scene I've ever watched. Considering this was an incredibly stoic character in Jin Myung reaching her breaking point and finally letting loose all her pent up emotions- I got so worked up and was breathing heavily while watching it. I felt like I was going to get a heart attack from the intensity. Incredible acting.

This is my favourite episode for sure. They fix up their relationship, and she finally stands up to the manager. Every time I watch it my nose gets all stiff and red. I love when they end up hugging each other on the floor. And her screaming to manager makes me happy and sad at the same time!
The breaking point of a person is so tragically beautiful. This was extremely well acted.
