There's something almost hypnotic about the grooves and riffs off Adrenaline.

It's called Polyrhythms. It's used a lot in non European music, that's why a lot of really long African and Indian music can sound psychedelic

I haven't listened to this track in quite a few years, but seeing this brought me right back to my early teens.
Just waiting for "Birthmark", which together with "Bored", was a seminal track for me with regards to my later musical passions and preferences.
Loving these videos! I sat down the other day and dug out a box of pictures of me and my friends first meeting the guys in Deftones during soundcheck before their gig in Oslo '98, and later on that night, backstage hanging out with them. Such great guys who saw what it meant to us.
Especially Chi(RIP), who insisted he put us on the guest list for the show. We were 15 and 16 at the time, with no money, and fake ID's to get us into the concert venue. One of the great nights of my life that I'll never forget:)

Adrenaline is still my favorite album by them. Brings me back to high school and playing their first three albums over and over and over again.

@@mrslippyfist9155 Actually Adrenaline is Nu Metal and some songs of ATF. After that they became an Alternative Metal band.
I’m not gonna write a whole essay, all I’ll say is that in my opinion, only their first two albums are nü metal. After that, they pretty much became their own genre, basically a combination of sludge metal, prog metal, doom metal, shoegaze and dream pop. So I don’t consider them a nü metal band at all really, because they became so much more than that. I guess the best way to classify everything after Around The Fur is alt metal. But this album is definitely a classic and influential nü metal record.

Deftones are one my favorite bands of all time. Steph Carpenter basically taught me how to play a guitar and I can play these early-era songs in my sleep, but I love watching Steph do these playthroughs. Just the little nuances you catch, it's so good. Do Root next!

All this time and it's still my fave track from Adrenaline. 🤘 Funny I always thought it was tuned Drop D, but you learn something new every day... even if it's almost 30 years later. LOL.
I knew it was e standard but I couldn't get it because i was playing it the hard way with an E chord, but I see Stef just does one string.
All of Adrenaline is in Standard tuning I think.

Crazy he was playing on 7-string since adrenaline. This riff is one of my favs. Interesting how he tunes his guitars. Always thought this whole album was in standard 6-string & around the fur was is dropD 6-string.
Standard E tuning like on 6 string guitar. But two highest strings are both same E strings from 6 string pack.

Adrenaline, fur and pony were 6s. Stef started using 7 after pony, he uses 7s for the 6 string songs now. Adrenaline is e standard, fur drop Db/c#, so for the 7 string he doubles the high E.

Ele diz que é devido ao "estado atual do mundo", mas é óbvio que é por se recusar a ser vacinado contra a covid. São das poucas bandas em que nunca aconteceram este tipo de coisas e de repente este ano estão a acontecer demasiadas coisas más, não é justo para as pessoas (como eu) que compraram bilhetes. Primeiro o Vega, agora isto do Steph...

@@MostlyLost Not really but anything could be, and it's obvious Steph knew a long time ago that he didn't want to get the vaccine = he wouldn't travel for that. These covid laws have been around for some time now and I was already disappointed with how the Sergio Vega thing was treated (also his departure happened almost a year before they made it public soooooo)
