Those were all really great pics! Finally, a channel with good taste.
HAHA July is coming soon!!
Temple Drake and the 39 steps are my favorites!
You will enjoy them.
It's really good to see someone/people interested in older movies.
On RUclips, the Mosfilms channel has uploaded a good number of their films.
Summer With Monica is one of them. Some absolutely wonderful close-ups.
I didn't know about the sale.
I really enjoy We's work also. Very much love Darlijing Limited.
The Life Aquatic is good. The Royal Tenenbaums, The French Dispatch, The Grand Budapest Hotel,
and the Moonrise Kingdom also.
edit, subbed, and belled you.
Silent movies and older films in general supremacy. I’m behind on seeing new releases this year because I’m prioritizing other films. Adding Summer of Monica to my list. I LOVE DARJEELING LIMITED. A comedy that has so much deeper layers filled with emotion that take you by surprise. I enjoyed the French dispatch. Def need a rewatch but I didn’t dislike like many people did in 2021. Thanks for the sub!! Much appreciated
@@RosVideos2327 Just an FYI. It's Summer With Monica. It's an Ingmar Bergman. It's older.
I just broke down during the flash sale last week and bought 50 Criterion films. I had collected spine numbers 1-319 about 18 years ago and put my collecting on hold during single parenthood. Now that my son is an adult I felt it was time to treat myself again.
Great pickups! Love John Waters. Pink Flamingos and Polyester are great but Female Trouble is probably my favorite if you don’t have that one.
That’s the next John water’s criterion I want to buy!! Omg Polyester was so good. That and multiple maniacs 5/5.
If you bought these from Criterion’s site, you’d be over 80% of the way to getting a $50 gift certificate from them for future purchases. It doesn’t take long. Buying from Barnes & Noble doesn’t offer the same advantages it once did on these, even with membership. Plus, you’d save all that time running back and forth to their stores. And finally, Criterion’s site has the ENTIRE collection available during the sale (except new releases, obviously), whereas every Barnes & Noble only has a small selection of titles, if they carry them at all. 😉
OH WOW HEARD. Good to know thank you. However, I’ll still make the trips cuz I just love the experience of choosing like an kid in a candy store lol.
@@RosVideos2327 No worries, but Criterion’s candy store is the whole store, and once you’re in for a sale or two, you might not want to switch back. 😉
39 Steps is a fun one. I gotta check out more Hitchcock movies. I recommend Black Narcissus. Its a little slow, but the ending is just... wow. Nice haul!
I can’t wait to see. I too need to see more hitchcock movies. Oh SLOW CINEMA SAY LESS I AM A DEFENDER OF SLOW CINEMA. I fucking love slow paced films. The purecinema, which is an Instagram account, posted about slow cinema and I remember one of kelly Reichardt’s was the cover photo (night moves) and it was a perfect post because I love slow cinema. Reserving 4 hrs where I see Jeanne Dielman, 23 quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles.
Will def see Black Narcissus asap!
Temple Drake is a Faulkner story.
Shoah is actually over 9 hours. I watched it in one sitting one Saturday a few years ago. It was pretty easy though as it's a fascinating documentary of a piece of history that's always interested me, as depressing as it is, it didn't feel like 9 hours. I love The Story Of Temple Drake too, one of best pre-code classics. Check out another called Night Nurse with Barbara Stanwyck, it's quite hilarious how casual & light-hearted they present murdering someone in that film, you'll see what I mean if you see it, it's quite bizarre. LOL
Setting out a full day to see Shoah in one damn sitting
And look after them and store them well. Friends, relatives and closed ones and future ones would most likely enjoy them too.
These dvds are my children
If you're looking for more older films, here are my recommendations:
Holiday (1938)
Design for Living (1933)
Bluebeard's Eighth Wife (1938)
5th Avenue Girl (1939)
p.s. The runtime of Shoah is actually around 9 1/2 hours. Perhaps the greatest documentary of all time, in my opinion.
LOVE THIS THANK YOU!!!!!! After two criterions I’m seeing tonight, these are next on my list. Will get back to you. And ah, for some reason I remember the number 6 but damn longer than satantango and I’m HERE FOR IT
Nice haul. Keep building that collection. And BTW he pronounces his name Cillian but with a K
oh heard!
so jealous you get to see some of those for the first time. Save Taste of Cherry for a special day. and Inland on the big screen will be one of the best experiences of your life, I guarantee it!
that’s so funny cuz I watched taste of Cherry last night. Kinda bothers me that it didn’t hit like I thought it would like Where is the Friend’s House. however it lingers my mind and I can’t stop thinking some lines from the film.
As for inland empire, it’s testing my willpower to wait til a theater plays it 😫
@@RosVideos2327 It's a lot more anguished and depressing so I understand 😄The ending threw me (in a good way). Willpower! You can do it! I believe in you!
All That Jazz is a fabulous movie and the extras on it are amazing.
I heard the opening scene is amazing! I’m excited
There will be blood is PTA’s best movie
It’s in my top 3 but just not my #1😭
sweet!
Excellent choices
I didn't know "The moment of truth", and it's even an Italian film! I hope to watch it soon
I’m scheduling a day to see it cuz I heard it’s pretty hard to watch
So this is the first video of yours that I ever watched and now I want to be besties. You speak my language.
My Criterion Library.

How did you like Red Desert? I can understand if you hated it, Antonioni's films are about failure and alienation so they are pretty grim, but they are also beautiful? Monica Vitti was the icon of alienation in the 60's. She was trying to regain her sanity while being surrounded by a merry band of venture capitalists. It was bad enough they were messing up Italy, they were on their way to Tierra del Fuego The earth may be a supporating, toxic mess, but we still have to live in it. That was the problem fifty years ago. I still marvel at Antonioni's precision and detail.
I was going to say. You need to upgrade to blurays/4ks....but their not dvds 😂
BTW criterion flash sale possibly going live this Tuesday 2/27/24, i believe is 50%
Saving my money for July!
Still buying dvds? Try a blu ray. It’s a nice upgrade.
Lost Highway also has a great soundtrack.
Rammstein!
Red Desert is the greatest film -- over 50 years ago -- a woman''s emotional life is equated with environmental decline. Jaw-dropping!
girrl, that is blu-ray, not dvds, good pickup tho
I know it’s embarrassing 😭😭😭😭😭💀💀💀💀💀
you were in prison?
love the hair, love the insight you give on some films, love the inspiration you give me to look more into certain films and more inspo to collect 🫶🏼
wow why thank you ! first, cutting hair is life changing, second, that’s amazing to hear and third, I’m huge collector 😭 happy to inspire lol
