    dude I can not thank you enough. I am not using this for clone hero, but I'm trying to do a VR game called paradiddle, and its a drumming game, and I wanted to map my keyboard/piano's sustain pedal to the spacebar key and I finally figured it out. YOU ARE A HERO!

    Dude you are absolute hero. I have many different games I play where it has an in-game instrument system where you can play music, ive been trying to figure out a way to connect my actual piano keyboard to it to play stuff on the keyboard for FOREVER. This is so simple and you explained everything well where I would have had issues. Absolute legend, I hope your pillow is always on the cold side forever

    This is so cool! I love how easy you made it. I'm developing a game called Intervallic that you can play with a MIDI keyboard and we've programmed it so that any MIDI device will be able to play once plugged in! We're working on pitch detection right now so anyone can play

      Hey just thought I’d mention it’d be really good if drum pads on a midi keyboard or just straight up midi drum pads would work on that game. I would love to be able to play classic guitar hero type drum songs on my Arturia midi keyboard pads

    Thanks for this! I really wanted to play levels designed for keys but didn't have the official Rock Band keyboard, so I had to use my MIDI one, and this worked! I was lucky enough to find an official Les Paul Wii guitar from Guitar Hero 3 next to my apartment's dumpster, because someone moving out just dumped it there lmfao, so I didn't have to spend a stupid amount of money getting one, but it's not great for playing keyboard levels.

    My keyboard puts a second input everytime i take my finger off the button, and there's no "note off" instead it just says the key name but has (mute) next to it.

    • @samdepapete2995
      @samdepapete2995 Год назад +2

      It's because most keyboards don't actually have a note off input, and so midi2keys doesn't recognize it as it should and causes that. Sadly I didn't find any fix yet

    • @manofonetitle
      @manofonetitle Год назад +2

      Still having trouble with this? Sorry for late message but I'm trying to think of a workaround for this.
      Does it say (mute) every time a key gets released? Or is it just when no keys are being pressed?
      If its the latter, then maybe if you can assign the 'mute' action to be the noteoff for ALL keys, that may work...but if its the former then I'm not sure what can be done about that. Hope this is doable.

    IT WORKED!!!
    Not for this device, but for a cheap chinese foldable drum kit that's meant for kids! And I bet it will work for my old Wii Guitar hero drums! Thank you!!!
    I notice a bit of lag though. I wonder how to diagnose whether it's caused by the device of by this software.

    I tried it but it has a 1 second delay and I don't know what's causing it

    • @manofonetitle
      @manofonetitle Год назад

      Sounds like a hardware issue. Have you tried opening notepad and typing with it? If the delay is there, then its either something wrong with the program, cable, instrument or (hopefully not) the PC.
      If you have a music program that can use the keyboard as an input, see if theres any delay there without midi2key. If there is, then its an issue with your cable or keyboard. If there isnt, then something is up with the program. Try different versions of midi2key if thats the issue. If that doesnt work, might be a PC problem. Good luck

    For some reason this tutorial worked a while ago when I tried, but now, no matter what I do, the key does not hold, if I check WaitForNoteOff, it does nothing. I get 1 key press and thats it... I know its not your fault, but this is extremely annoying and unfortunate

    • @manofonetitle
      @manofonetitle Год назад +1

      Hmm. Did you update the midi2key or the firmware instrument? Ive been using the same version of midi2key for years, so maybe something got mixed in an update to not register things.
      It could also be an issue with the velocity of the keys your hitting. Make sure its set correctly so even the slightest tap will register input. No clue what else could be causing that. Hope this can get figured out.

    • @manofonetitle

      Hmm. When you have your midi controller connected, you should see the button on the top right corner that says "start/stop listening". Make sure you click the button that says 'start' so it will start reading the key inputs, and make sure the log window box is checked. If that doesnt work and your midi controller is connected, let me know
