👆💯These are facts! Video is well put together and remains in alignment with the realities of our island's challenges. Growing up here it's sad to see how things are regressed to the point where even I, would wholeheartedly agree with the perspective shared by this video. There are some great aspects of living here, however, I believe more can and should be done to improve the island experience for both our local and visitor(s) population.
If I was at the check out and it wrong up a crazy price I’d tell them take that off I don’t want it !! Watch the price scanner !!! Great to know video !! Love you ❤
@@KawaiiTako thank you for filming. I’m living through your videos. Also your pronunciation of pretty much everything you said in Chamorro is on point. I sent your videos to my friend so she can see what she’s missing out on 🤣
Girlie everything is on point! New to Guam and lemme say, Island time is real 😂 also going through with the fire ant bites at the moment 😜 service at a plant nursery was realllllllyyy laid back and I was the only one there 😂 the trash and fur bby situations are upsetting to say the least.
Vinegar onto those red ant bites should help that pain and itch real quick. It has always worked for me on Guam lol. My Papa told me to do it once when I was young and it just became my go to thing. lol
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 you’re on point with the jokes! That’s really how it is especially with family and friends, harder jabs with even harder laughs! Love our island! Guam is to beautiful! Thank you for reminding me how lucky I am to be born and raised here. Blessings to you and your family! ❤
Thanks for making this and your other Guam videos. While some of it sounded familiar, I’m sad to hear about all the problems with trash. I lived there in the 90s, but I was in the military. I remember that the food at every restaurant was so good, and the beaches were gorgeous. I loved to go to the beach at Andersen AFB (sorry you can’t see that one). The weather was pretty nice year round (other than dreaded typhoons). I got forgotten by people who gave me a ride one time (no cell phones) and although it was only 2 miles back to NAS (which is now pretty much ruins I hear)….Easily walkable, especially in my youth and fitness at the time….It was harrowing to say the least! I don’t remember fire ants, but definitely the geckos, tree snakes, boonie dogs, wild pigs, skinks, roaches, and spiders. For there to be so many chickens running around, there must be fewer snakes! Also, not getting fast service or businesses to pick up phones must be a newer phenomenon. I wonder if that was spurred by the internet age? I loved the orange and vanilla ice cream cones they served at McDonalds and you can’t get that anywhere in the states. Milk shortages are still a thing? I remember hearing about milk shortages on Guam when I lived there. We could always get some, but we had the commissary to shop at. Guam was a really magical place and time for me. I’d love to visit again one day.
I really appreciate how you say "our" a lot. As a Chamorro local it's great to see you taking part in our community and voicing your concerns for what a lot of us see as troubling as well. My family owns a business in Harmon Industrial Park and we regularly clean up illegal dumping behind Home Depot using our resources (when we can), which we are happy to do, but would be happier if we didn't have to do it at all. The way the government handled the typhoon was unsatisfactory and slow moving, but having been through super typhoon pongsona with no power for 4 months, things have definitely improved for sure, but could absolutely be better. SYM for doing these videos, it's great to see people so passionate about our island.
I love Guam and I’m so happy it’s my new home - So I’m really happy to hear this! I have heard the stories of typhoon pongsona. Everyone who went through that is so strong. I would have lost my mind lol Thank you so much for watching and liking the video!
I remember the pass typhoons me and my family went through is a BIG experience on survival:(....Omar, paka, chata'an,...all I can say is to do not be bored is playing alot of boardgames lol....and catching rain water on the roof using the drainage pipes outside around the house to wash clothes and dishes 😅......you got to try Rudy's canteen on Wednesday's thru Fridays....I think it's around those days it's there in front of family doctors clinic in tamuning and GMHA hospital.....they make the BEST cheese Burgers on the island a must try.....also I believe they are open every Sundays at the flea market in dededo😊....last time I tried there food was in 2019.....please keep it coming with these videos you are doing a great job thank you 😊.....stay safe girl and Godbless 🎉
Board games would have been good!! We just had a deck of cards and didn’t know how to play any games … we even forgot the rules to go-fish. 😂 I’ll have to check out Rudy’s canteen. Thank you for the recommendation and thank you so much for your kind words! Stay safe ☺️
We used to collect our rain water, boil it for cooking and cleaning/laundry during typhoon Paka. You can put a screen so mosquitos don’t find a home in it.
hey girl! Thank you so much for the video! My husband works in government & a position opened in Guam and he asked me if I would be ok if he applied. I gave him my blessing. BUT now seeing your video, I am feelin all kinds of weird about it. We moved to Virginia from Los Angeles a year and a half ago! So of course I miss that California sun. 1. I'm terrified of dogs (do the stray dogs come up to you) I'm assuming you can't leave your house without seeing dogs 2. we literally did not have water last week for 2 days because of snow & that was awful! You went over a month without water 😟 wow. I would have been a b**** too. Like WHAT!?!?!! How often do the typhoons happen??? 3. the bugs. Girl ever since we left LA --Virginia has crazy bugs too. In the middle of summer I literally walk outside in winter clothes because the bugs are so crazy here, I was excited about the beaches in Guam but you mentioned ants. Someone else's video said that the ants are on the beach too. So you can't lay on the beach without being attacked by ants? \ 4. the trash. 😳 my husband and I go for walks several times a week. I feel that this would drive me crazy--seeing all the unkept trash?!! so sad. it sounds like my fantasy of Guam is very different from the reality. Do you actually like it there?
🤣 love your comment! 1.some strays come up to you if you’re In a more rural area and can be territorial but for the most part they are friendly anywhere else 2. I’ve lived here 3 1/2 years and that was my only major typhoon. “Typhoon season” is every June-December but it’s just really rainy and humid. 3. Get stoked about the beaches because they are beautiful and warm and wonderful. As long as you’re not close to the plant life and you don’t have food lying out around you the ants won’t bother you at the beach. 4. The trash is really sad there’s no way around it :c Going into Guam blind for me was amazing but reality hit soon after. I really do love it here. It’s beautiful, a slow paced way of life, and everyone is so friendly. But it can be challenging at times. A positive mindset really is required! ~hope this helps ❤️
Bugs and geko's. AS far as dangerous animals, when I was there in 1976-1979 [I lived thru Cat 5 typhoon Pamela] out in the boonies one can find komodo dragons. I met one and realized I was in his kitchen, so I backed away and never went back.
I wouldn't have wanted to be there during the pandemic. I heard where the govenor had the national guard close down roads to keep people at home. I was on another pacific island at the time and we just had all flights cancelled for a time but we were free to move about
Hafa adai dal! You forgot to mention the brown tree snakes and ayuyu(coconut crab). Anyways... I agree with how the island is being treated. Government doesn't care about it being trashed or the people. They care about $ in the pocket. Being from Guam has taught me alot. Being prepared for natural disaster, appreciating what I already have(beautiful beach and family), and this place forever being my home.
Having 4 dogs myself that makes me cry. I wish there was something we could do. What can anyone do? Start a gofund me or some campaign to pay for spay and neutering? Would that help? Idk.
Hi I love your video. Thank you so much. Very informative. Love the cat in the background! I’m planning on visiting there in January. Do you have any recommendations for cute little hotels? I’d really appreciate it. Thank you CJ.
Hi! I’m so glad you liked the video! Unfortunately, the only hotel I’ve stayed at is the Tsubaki (which was very nice) but we don’t have too many good hotels unless your going to a resort - But if you’re looking for something more cozy, I’d suggest checking out Airbnb! There are some cute places you can find on there with different price points and some even provide snorkeling gear and kayaks for you to use during your stay
This videos makes my mode like a heart beat. Up and down, hate and love. Could we just be in bad news first and good news? I don't know just my opinion.
Yl essiential oils will help wirh bugs. Their peppermint oil deters them putting them all over the windows and door seals. Cinnamon oil for ants. List goes on
Bugs, lots of snakes= less birds =more bugs. Matching outfits. My dad's wife makes them match colored shirts lol. Trash- true, it wasn't like that when I left in 97 even the dog issue wasnt noticeable. A once a month island cleanup sponsored by differnet major companies would be cool. Theres more marathons than clean ups. Typhoons, make u appreciate things more. Humor, we do have a sarcastic sill stereotyping sense of humor. You learn at an early age how not to be offended easily. Or you grow thick skin. Lol. Good list
Yeah, we have like no birds here it’s crazy! I like the sponsored clean up idea that would be amazing. Thank you so much for watching and liking the video! 😃
So with all the bad things there does the good out weigh them? Would you still move to guam again in a heart beat? Why are you there if your not military or ( omg so embarrassing misspell) chammoring ( so sorry everyone for misspelling that) is it because you just love guam, for work, or have family there? I only just started watching you so I don't know your story of how and why your there
For me personally and for more reasons than mentioned in the video - yes, I would definitely still move to Guam. Some people don’t like the compromises that come with living on a small island or don’t want to live with certain circumstances and that is totally okay. Guam isn’t for everyone lol Also, my boyfriend is Chamorro/ Palauan and his family wanted to move back to Guam and I said “yeah let’s go” haha that’s why I’m here.
@KawaiiTako yeah I wrote the comment before I found your vlog of you moving there and I answered my own question hahaha. I've lived on an island. I miss waking up in the morning and saying hey by heading to the beach We've lived on Oahu. But I honestly think they are better islands then Oahu.
I find it hilarious how Americans, politicians, and law enforcement criticize Pacific Islanders for them justifying their rights to our community. An what’s even more hilarious is how Americans who don’t know how much sacrifice it takes to keep the island the way it is. Because everyone knows that Americans love to go to Guam for the beaches and the culture and traditions. 😂😂 Heyy I ain’t even mad, just staying in the USA speaks for itself and they call me dramatic 😅😂😂
I am from Guam born and raised from the lovely village of Barrigada and I agree with everything she says. But then again your opinion is yours and mine is mine.
I agree!! And “we” would appreciate it if you don’t post pictures and videos from other countries portraying it’s Guam when it’s not! The uprooted sidewalks are from the many typhoons we’ve had. You are comparing the Island to the States. Guam does not get funded the way you think. So yeah, you said it yourself-the Haole’ hater.

DUH
f no. not living here for more than a week
Okay so you talked about dead dogs on Guam. Well here in Texas there are a lot of dead skunks on the road.
Being from Guam I did not like most of what you said and I’m sure my friends and family who are still there agree.
What did you not like?

Yah she took pictures of third world countries to insert in the videos making viewers think those pictures are of Guam.
