ABOUT LISA WITT
I love to help students unlock their full musical potential. I have taught in a wide variety of settings from Music for Young Children to helping recording artists prepare their songs for the road. I also have specialized experience working with children that struggle with learning, developmental, and physical disabilities. While my background is classical, I’m currently focusing on helping my students play the music they love by ear! I’m excited to be a part of YOUR journey as you learn how to sight read, play by ear, and progress through musical theory. It is going to be fun!
I am a self-taught piano player, been playing 12 years, following Pianote for past couple years. Cannot say enough how impressed I am with Lisa Witts teaching ability & methods. She presents numerous techniques & topics, in a way that doesn’t intimidate you. She inspires me to practice more so I can be a better player. How great a teacher is that??? 👏👏
Thank you for these videos. I’m 56 and knew nothing of a piano. In a weeks time your beginner videos has taught me so much. Not up to playing a song yet, but I’ll get there soon. Lol. Thanks again and I highly recommend your video to all beginners.
Simple notes with your magical hands touch it creates a beautiful, peaceful lovely music. ❤
she has big hands what are you talking about 😁
That's what I was thinking to I can't believe it's only three chords to play clocks by Coldplay. That's insane
11:51 I really love the arpeggio sound. It’s used so much more now then when I grew up and is very effective.
Wow! You are a fantastic teacher. I feel fireworks going off in my head as I watch and jaw drop at your brilliant lessons. Your simplicity and spiritedness are carrying me along much faster than I have been able with other teachers, though some are quite good.
Wow, thank you! That is so very kind of you--- we have lots and lots more to come!

Gruess Gott!
SALUT MIRELA FROM MY SIDE
Hi, I'm an independent recording artist, and I'm a self-taught pianist who has been playing since I was 11. I heard that piano riff from Coldplay's "Clocks" in a supermarket on day and went nuts because it's so crazy beautiful. I couldn't calm down until I went home and started playing it myself. BTW, you have a nice teaching style.
❤️🔥🎶
Hey *show off* *compliment* bye.
Your kidding. I had a similar experience years ago. It was the intro to Coldplay's Trouble. Being played by a young man. Sadly, I got away from playing, but have returned. Clocks is also beautiful.
❤
I love you Sister Pianote, you're so gentle! Amazing, caring work you do here and I am so lucky to stumble upon this channel. FABULOUS!
I'm leaving a comment now because I can't get through this video. It's awesome. Had to pause a couple times in the first sections, then stopped totally @6:50 to play around with that for 20 minutes. Then I watched to @8:10 and paused AGAIN to fiddle around. I love these chords and arpeggios! Perfect level for me! Awesome video! Sounds so good!
That's exactly why we're doing this!!!
clocks was the first ever song I learned on piano. i can recognize by the first note now. I love that instrumental near the end, same pattern! I've loved Pianote since I started thanks for all the great videos
I watch, learn, and practice with you, then share the video with my grandsons. Thanks, you are a colorful addition to our piano lessons. Your enthusiasm is contagious! 🌞🌈❤🤗
Glad to see you doing both right and left. I originally just did left, but once I saw you on another video do right, I did that. It took me a month before I could do it.
Tip: open up your video with a small sample (10 seconds) of the end result of what you are about to teach. In this case, it would be some beautiful arpeggios. This whets the appetite of the view so they will continue to watch.
Muito obrigado por compartilhar!! Sou do Brasil e estou me esforçando no aprendizado com vc!!
Thank you!
I have learned every piano key and triade from you!
You are the best teacher!
My daughter ( 5 years old) is learning piano from this year as well!
All that i know regarding piano... chord progressions/ key's/ and triades... i owe you!
Respect!
This pattern is so pretty. I LOVE playing it. Thank you!
Excellent video. I am a hobby guitarist and subscribed to Pianote a few days ago. So far I like the "method". It starts a little bit different compared to a traditional piano method but it seems to be really good. You learn how to relax your hands and prepare your muscles for the piano first by doing a few simple but very effective exercises. Then you start playing chords and this helps to develop hand independance and keyboard "orientation". Playing melodies comes later. Lisa is a very friendly and capable host.
I am enjoying the course so far and hope I will continue to progress. I can recommend the website for total beginners but also for musicians who already play another instrument than piano or people who gave up in the past and want to return to the piano. Unlike traditional piano methods you don't start with boring or "cheesy" pieces.
I never knew you could do this! So many things you can play with this knowledge. You explain it so well, I am so grateful thank you very much. I'm off to go and practice this right away.
Thank you so much for this! It is also fun to play the arpeggios with different rhythms as well.
I really loved this video and will no doubt watch several times over. I am new to the keyboard (have been playing trumpet for about 7 years) and your style of teaching is great. I struggle with all of it but enjoy the learning and having just turned 62 I feel like this will keep my brain sharp 🙂

You are such a beautiful piano player, such a grace in your hand.... I love it so much love watching you.💖💖💖❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹 Merry Christmas in advance ❣️❣️
Well presented and informative!
Lovely! I am an advanced piano player (so maybe not your usual subscriber) but have begun composing my own songs. Which is a very different thing than simply playing the piano well! I really appreciate your take on playing around, playing by ear, and doing slightly unexpected things with chords. It has inspired me to hear piano differently in my mind. I can't wait to develop my new ideas. Thanks!
Same story, I always thought i had a good ear and thought that having been a classically trained musician/composer, I had some kind of special advantage or something... But then totally realized that there were phenomenally great musicians that had so much more musical and creative freedom than I did because they were able to leverage their understanding of jazz and pop to gain an intuitive and practical application of music theory. I had a teacher once say something like "at the end of the day, if it doesn't sound good, the notes on the page don't matter."
merci
So cool 😎. 😎
Happy New Year!!!

Excellent tutorial! Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great exercise! Thank you so much!
You're so welcome!
Arpeggio pattern 3 is so familiar. I play some Richard aclayferman pieces and that arpeggio pattern for the left hand is so widely used in most of his pieces.
Bonus pattern reminds me of Amelie. Haha
It is a good lessons with a great description and also with music chart. I, like it and I, love you . Thank you.
I love How your teaching. Thank you so much!
You do make things look so sweet and easy, I will follow on and hope I will do it soon.I like your style. Thank you mam
Nice. Love the simplicity.
Also love your hair.
That first pattern is the intro of a Nigerian song “Ijoba Orun” by Lara George
The 3rd one reminded me of your Amélíe lesson (which I'm still fumbling through). Thank you.
Yes!! That pattern is a simplified version of the one from Amelie :)
Your lesson is helping me a lot
glad to help and lots more to come!
Thank you so much. I am a 69 year old man, who wants to learn how to play the Piano. What a cool lesson. Thanks so much!
