Availability. 88mm oem unturned Crankshafts are getting harder to find. Plus, if you have ever magnafluxed an oem crankshaft, the amount of micro-stress cracks you'll see are honestly a bit alarming. We've run the 88mm turbo tuff Crankshaft on Nates silver evo for years and on aluminum Rods making 900hp, and it's been fine. On Alan's black evo, though, it did crack the rod journal on cylinder 4 on a 100mm turbo tuff crankshaft at around 600hp on a steel rod motor. Could the material of the rod impact the strength of the crankshaft? Possibly.
@@snailfedperformance7177 Ah, thanks for the clarity! Almost felt like I was having a watershed moment as if I wasn't going to have to spend 4k on a FP sometime later down the track.
ive heard guys making over 700 reliably on oem 63/64 cranks. With that whats the point of even buying the manley if it cracks at 600?

600 Horse on a Stock 8 turbo?! That's insanity!
Is this an American dyno thing or?
The motor is built to handle 600hp. The stock 8 turbo won't get him there nor will the fuel system in the car.

what is the compression ratio your running?
I believe on this motor it was 9:1.
Stock 8 cranks holds to 900+! And aftermarket dont? Thats a shame!
It's a Greek Tragedy.
Snailfed Performance im on 800 on stock crank so its a testify
@@Joshuasprojects2015 they definitely work. Alan's Evo is making around that on his 2.4 motor with an OEM 100mm crank.
WTF!!! I have one and i rebuilt the motor. Does it get better if it got shot peened/ and or polished?
