I respect ones decision to not want to have extraordinary large Christmas. I do also love the fact that my husband and I always took this time of year to reward our three sons. We also made sure they knew the meaning of Christmas and that it would not be possible without the lord Jesus Christ and accepting him into their lives. My sons are all in their twenties now and none are married yet and they have grown into three of the finest, young men with a beautiful heart. I can honestly say we still even with their ages we still have extremely large Christmas's actually now though it's a lot more cost wise due to the fact the items they get now are much, much more expensive so as opposed to maybe opening 25 to 30 gifts they may only get 10 or 15. But I do completely understand what you are saying I just think it depends on the family. I'm enjoying your channel I just came across it today, I'm going to have a marathon here on it. Thank you and god bless my dear 😘
Christmas... the one thing that I really really enjoy the most is the gift of giving to people who need it and the memories that come with that. The gift of being together. In our house that's singing and dancing to Christmas music and it's wonderful!!! I love it every year! Plus the cooking of yummy cookies and giving them to our neighbors.
Hi Alana! So excited about this book study! I have been loving this book! I'm really looking forward to how to handle teens in today's society. We homeschool and have 4 kids with a modest income. We take a long, long time to give them modern technology but have given them a little here and there with strict rules. Even at that they were big regrets. Most kids don't have the maturity the handle that responsibility. It's hard to figure out a balance in that with teens. Also, my hubby went to India after the tsunami with our family doctor friend and was forever changed! It deepened his walk with Christ tremendously!♥️
I appreciate the valuable content - Gratitude is so important, especially in a parenting context! I discuss gratitude in the last video on my channel as well. I truly hope videos like ours inspire other parents/people out there to contemplate how to foster gratitude. Thanks again.
Hey Alana! Really enjoyed the first two chapters & your commentary. I wanted to ask, at what age did you start to "pay" your children for chores? Such a great idea- something I want to implement.
Unfortunately this is my Christmas every year, because my mother in law buys so many gifts for my kids that it literally fills our minivan. (My husband has to take all the gifts home first and then pick up the kids and me because we don't fit..) It angers me every year. Last year I just lost it. My husband said he will talk to her, but hasn't yet. Hoping this year will be different..
It would be an awesome teaching moment for everyone if you talked to your kids before Christmas about who they can think of that really needs some of the things they might receive and then when they open a gift and get excited about giving it to someone they know who really needs it...! Well, they will get the amazing joy of giving and the grandparents might learn something wonderful too.💜

Also, for Christmas we do something they want, something they need, something to wear, something to read. We try to be as practical as possible!
