i love oldschool shiny hunters, you get people getting hyped in modern games about their 10th shiny this week and then people hunting with old odds that'll just calmly be like "oh my god we go it." after 10s of thousands of resets
@@tibbittsaerospace201 lol! I love calm and genuine reactions although sometimes I get a bit more excited when finding a shiny, not with this Turtwig though, I hated this hunt, it was so slow. When it finally shined I was just exhausted and relieved it was finally over.
@@ShinyHunterCrob totally agree, the only starer hunt I've done is the HGSS one because you get more seen in a shorter amount of time and there's at least the mystery of which one you'll get or a phase to entertain you while looking for the target, hats off to you having the patience to complete it

I remember in ultra sun hatching some Pokémon that was taking forever to shine, decided to switch to hatching Turtwig to get a decent nature in and 6 eggs later a surprise shiny Turtwig. Easily my fave of the sinnoh starters. I remember my first time playing platinum and hearing its happy little chortle and I went “come Terrance! Let’s murder the elite 4”
@@ShinyHunterCrob depends on the game you’re playing. Gen 6, 7 and 8 has odds of 1/4063(?) somewhere around that, when combined with the Masuda Method, the odds are as good as 1/650 for a shiny. Gen 4 has the original base odds of 1/8196 odds (what you were using with this hunt, also know as “full odds” Gen 4 (and 5) introduced the Masuda Method that increases the odds of hatching a shiny when using a Pokémon foreign to your game. (ENG pikachu and a JPN Ditto) The very best shiny hatching odds (borderline broken) are all the way back in gen 2 where shinyness was tied to the DV’s (IV’s today) and could be passed down like a gene. The Red Gyarados from the lake of rage is the best way to get your feet wet with that method (just be sure you catch it as a Male) odds using the “shiny parent” method yield odds as insane as 1/128 or 1/64 when using a shiny ditto. Hope this helped.
oh my god!, I went over 30k with tepig and my biggest fear was something similar happening in sinnoh because of the long cutscenes, congrats on this shiny!

Honestly I was really excited but I think I expected something else, I’m still gonna play those remakes and hunt on them when they come out but... they’re just too similar to the original games, it’s not a bad thing but it’s also not that exciting imo. What do you think about them?
Lol, If I’m not wrong I was hunting on a 4th DS that has no capture card, I remember hunting outside of Mt Stark and getting a shiny Rhyhorn during the Turtwig hunt.
Honestly a lot of patience. This was my longest hunt in terms of time so I can tell you to be patient since those soft resets are not the quickest. Also, it's much better if you're doing it on Platinum instead of Diamond or Pearl and on as many cartridges as you can to make it quicker. Also, take a break whenever you feel tired of it, I started it back in 2019 and took a year long break.

The resets are so slow, if there was a hunt I wanted to be as quick as possible was this one and it ended being the longest one but well worth it, can’t wait to do more hunts on Platinum! ✨
@@ShinyHunterCrob Just snagged a Shiny Ziggy (Hoenn) in sword after 42 eggs.. previously got the galar form in 3 encounters so.. luck has been good to me lately, but I've been hunting my Turtwig for a year now on two systems :'(

I started my shiny hunt for turtwig last month and I’m still going at it. Any advice?
