- Had to squeeze this quick little video in between all of the work I've got on the farm. Roxton Falls is... smaller than I thought, but still made for a good subject. I love exploring small towns.
As always, thanks for watching and please feel free to visit my Instagram page @jesshobbsphoto for a closer look at some of the images.
What I find most refreshing about your videos is they're about taking photos. Discovering places to shoot, dealing with light and expectations, revisiting locations, using different formats and film types, patience and excitement. In an era where we're being constantly buried under a mountain of new camera releases and complaints about how nothing lives up to the hype, just watching someone make images and talk about where they are and their creative process is a breath of fresh air. Thanks again!
Great video Jess I am enjoying your work love to see more I adore the Bronny great camera stay safe greetings from the UK 🇬🇧
great shots, and camera and film combo.
just got back from a night shoot with my Bronica SQ-AI ... Stumbled onto your channel while enjoying some dinner. I'm glad I did. cool stuff. keep up the good work. Love the Bronicas!
A super video and some nice captures... Thanks for sharing.
always fun watching your videos Jess.
Those images are gorgeous, the film and the camera are such a good combo! Found this while prepping to shoot some RPX 400 but in overcast weather so not sure how it will come out, but love the video :)
Love your videos!!!
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it! Thanks for watching!
Thanks. You’re so cute! I just found your channel and I don’t know if you’re a pro, but you take some great photos. It would be fun to go on a photowalk with you. I have a Bronica ETR si that I rarely use. I have plenty of film in the fridge. I’m going to shoot with it tomorrow. Thanks for the inspiration. Subscribed.
Have one of these with the 75, 40, and 75 mm lenses. Have not used it n a while, but never have the heart to get rid of it because the picture quality is top notch when you get it dialed in right. Good luck with it!
Another great video! I have a ETRSi and love it. Mine came with a metered prism, but I’m always on the lookout for a waist level finder for it.
I loooooooove that camera!
Mine is the ETRSi version, but the main reason why I love it is the glorious lens lineup. Particularly the later multicoated versions. They are just insanely good for rendering nature shots, sky, sea etc. Definitely my favourite 645 system. And it's still quite cheap!
The Rollei RPX 400 is also my favourite high speed bw film. Like the Bronica cameras, Rollei films are underrated!
I think a bronica ETR video is how I found you when I subscribed a while back. The bronica etrs is my go to camera as it was passed down to me from my father. Actually just got done shooting with it in Tennessee as I was passing through. As always great video and looking forward to more.
Great video, I love the Bronica's, such underrated cameras, I had the ETRSi for the longest time. I currently favour the 6x7, so the Pentax 67 is my go-to medium format. If you ever want to see some impressive falls, you need to come to BC, we have some amazing falls here. And if you do come to BC, let me know in advance so we can get together during your visit.
check out the GS-1 :)
It's been awhile since I have shot RPX 400, but I like the tonality in your old machinery shots, I just wish that Rollei films were a bit less expensive here in the US, but I have a roll of Superpan 200 loaded up in a back for my RB. Another great video Jess :)
Hey Jess just re-watched this as I've ordered 2 rolls of Rollei 35mm for the Pentax I'll upload a vid of the experience asap, if it does the business I'll order some 120 for the Bron. Strange but here in New Zealand it's 4 NZD a roll cheaper than HP5 and Tmax etc. The results on your vid look awesome mate.
Fun way to spend the afternoon.
Love my ETR. Even though these days I am shooting more digital than film, I simply could not part with mine. But I did have to ditch the waist level finder for the eye level one, I found portrait shots difficult with the waist level one. Other than that, it’s a great camera.
An entertaining visit. I think a few of the images would be great in colour, particularly of the street signs :)
Love the adventurous spirit! What's in this town? Let's go and find out!
I missed the opinion to that film. Did you liked the results.
I personally don’t like this film (the same emulsion as APX400 which I find too flat).
Maybe I‘ll try a push or different developer, caffenol maybe...
Get yourself a prism finder Jess..! Vertical format shots will give you a crick in the neck otherwise. Nice work
the images look so sharp. Can I ask what scanner did you use?
I got a Bronica ERTSI a couple of months ago. Apparently the internet tells me 645 is the least popular medium format which probably explains why I got the kit for such a good price. Mine looks remarkably unused like yours! I also have a Yashica Mat 124g like you. Again going for the budget option. I’m sure I’ll get pretty much as good photos as the more expensive and collectible options. I have a prism finder but I much prefer the WLF so it separates my shooting experience from my Nikon 35mm SLR work. I’m thinking about getting a rotary finder to avoid the gymnastics involved with a portrait aspect photo and a WLF. I can only find 1 RUclips video of anyone actually using a rotary finder...and that was on a Mamiya 645. All your photos are beautifully in focus and look great.
I do really enjoy your videos but I have to ask who teaches Canadian RUclips and TV presenters all the hand animations? Don’t take my question in an impolite way I just find this trait interesting.
Hahaha, this made me laugh so hard this morning! I am very aware of my crazy hand gestures, so I don't find the question impolite at all! I didn't actually realize that this was a Canadian trait so much as I thought it was more of a Quebec trait. My mom's family is french and my father's family is english, so I always assumed I had picked this up from the french side of my family (the french are well-known for being very expressive with their hands!). So it's not really something learned or taught so much as it's just something we're all born with I guess! Thanks for watching!
5:13 AKA I wish I had my RB.
What developer you use?
Nice work Jess love that film and top work on the portrait shot I kept my ETRSi from my old wedding days but stupidly I sold the prism finder and all but one back 🥺 I’ve just started shooting landscapes with the bron and I’m loving this camera all over again📷 great vid mate enjoyed watching ❤️
