Again this angelic little genius has taken me to Heaven. One of the best performances of this Bach masterpiece I have heard since the classic version of Yehudi Menuhin and David Oistrakh around 1958. Absolutely stunningly beautiful and brilliant! (Shame about the coughing.)
I just saw this old video. She was very impressive already. Another thing stroke me: those were the wonderful times when people were simply annoyed when someone coughed, instead of freaking out.

This age difference between this young lady SoHyun Ko and the Maestro Pinchas Zukerman must be nearly six decades, and yet they are so together in their performance. The communication between them both is a delight to watch, and from the sound you would not credit the massive gap in their years. This is music at its very best.
SoHyun, before watching this, I've just re-watched your playing Sarasate: Zigeunerweisen Op.12 at Heigetz International Music Institute. Your playing is really engaging me emotionally. I love and really enjoy to listen the melodies you make. I also love to see your gestures when you stroke the violin bow on each string of the violin. It is so elegant. Love everything that I may not capable to express how I feel verbally. But, thank you for playing that beautiful piece in a beautiful way. This video too, you're amazing. You look very confident and determine that I can look that in your eyes.

For a young violinist to play with Pinchas Zukerman would be like a young cellist playing with YoYo Ma. If I were SoHyun's father or grandfather, I'd still have my mouth open in gob-smacked wonderment, thinking, "Where on God's fair Earth did that talent come from?!"
I have watched the Yehudi Menuhin David Oistrahk video of this piece at least 50 times this past two years. This performance is more enjoyable as SoHyun and Pinchas are so much fun to watch and hear as they interact both facially and musically. Yes!
People who constantly make noises (coughing, opening wrappers, etc) in these types of performances "drive me crazy". If you're not feeling well, or can't keep quite, then "Stay Home" or 'at least' get up and quietly exit the auditorium! I think there's more going on with these types of people ('mentally' speaking) than simply their 'cough'. Those people who 'excuse' the coughing are probably 'inconsiderate cougher ' themselves. The beauty of this music should be given the reverence it deserves
I watched this video repeatedly and what drew me back time and again is that you can see the highest form of wordless communication between two players who ,through facial expression and smiling to each other, really enjoyed the music and each other's company.
People say math. is the universal langue, may be so but that's for extraterrestrial. For us earthlings music is it. Remember the banjo-guitar duet in the Deliverance? Hard to imagine the two of them throwing numbers at one another instead of music.

훌륭합니다. 제가 제일 좋아하는 곡입니다. 어린시절 미국에서 초등학교 다닐때 음악담당 선생님 밑에서 바이올린을 배웠는데 한국 귀국할때 인사를 드렸더니 한국 가면 꼭 바이올린 제대로 배우라 신신당부 하셨었네요 ㅎㅎ 재능 썩히지 말라면서.. 당시 2-3년 이상을 배운 동급생들 대신 반년남짓 배운 제가 졸업행사에서 솔로 연주 했었네요. 평양감사도 지가 싫으면 못한다고 부모님께서는 과외도 붙혀주시거 했지만 제가 흥미를 잃어 그만 뒀는데, 지금은 조금 후회가 됩니다. 뭐 재능이 있었다해도 우리 영상에 있은 꼬마숙녀분 만큼은 아니었다 생각하고 바이올린으로 먹고살(?) 수준은 아니었겠지만, 취미삼아 계속 했으면 어땠을까 싶네요. 멋진 연주 잘 보고 갑니다^^

These kids are geniuses. They are certainly amazing..l also play violin..There is no way that l will ever play as these kids play..l certainly do not have their abilities. I am also dyslexic so l cannot read as fast as they do.
I just hope it was the recording mics that heard most of that coughing and not the audience and musicians. If it was me though, I would have taken my coughing fit out to the lobby and then watched the rest of the performance from the wings.
Yes, it's extremely selfish and inconsiderate to even go to the performance if you're going to cough through it. Never mind if someone has paid for their ticket, if they can't stay quiet they shouldn't be there

These kids are geniuses. They are certainly amazing..l also play violin..There is no way that l will ever play as these kids play..l certainly do not have their abilities. I am also dyslexic so l cannot read as fast as they do.

I just hope it was the recording mics that heard most of that coughing and not the audience and musicians. If it was me though, I would have taken my coughing fit out to the lobby and then watched the rest of the performance from the wings.
Yes, it's extremely selfish and inconsiderate to even go to the performance if you're going to cough through it. Never mind if someone has paid for their ticket, if they can't stay quiet they shouldn't be there

ROCK is wonderful, HIP HOP not that much, COUNTRY can be wonderful too, and so on. However, when it comes classical music and you are used to hear it, it is UNBEATABLE. This vídeo is a clear example. Amazing!
