I worked that area for over 20 years... Used to be good Deer population in the Sky Islands on the Back side of Gardner... It's also a pretty high traffic area too... If ya know what I mean... Nice! Thanks

Thank you for sharing. Camped and hunted in the same area, and shot my first Coues about a mile southeast of where you shot yours.

I’ve hunted down there quite a bit, it can be tough with all the pressure. Solo bucks are the best! Congratulations on your 1st coues deer!

Last year was the first time I didn’t get drawn. 34A is my favorite unit. Know the east side of that mountain like my back yard.

Hopefully you’re drawn this year! I wish I had you there to help me! I was just wondering around until I found a nice rock to stop and look for deer!

I was glad that I did not see an atv! I hunted unit 23 in December and it was an atv jamboree rendezvous! I felt like it ruined the hunt, I never saw a mature buck and I was there for month! Coos deer in unit 23 hav been trained to lay down when they hear those lawn mowers!

I feel like Couse Deer are trained to hide from everything, they are really hard to find. I bet ATVs don't help!

good job but a good idea is never hunt alone.

    • @andrew.bryant

I learned that while I was out there. I changed my original plan because I didn't have cell service and the road was too rough to do it alone. I really just wanted to prove that I could do it.
