Thanks. I was using with VSTHost which is ugly and useful. But I was getting a lot of glitches and had to restart the vsthost from time to time. Light Host might be just what I was looking for.
Hello, I know this is old, but I wanted to know if you could possibly make a video on how to add TAL onto Voice Meter banana or If I can like combine the two?
Nice tutorial but I think you should have also talked about the order of the plugins and the order you used wasn't all that great. I would probably have put the noise reduction first, then the gate, then the de-esser. EQ should be towards the end either before, or after the reverb, or add it twice once before and once after. You have to think about it all working in a chain and you want to remove any accidental noise first and tone shaping (EQ) second to last with the compressor last of all.
Thanks for the Video but for me it doesnt work :( I dont know why... I can run Light Host and also open the different VST Pugins, but they dont change anything.... It looks like that all the Plugins dont get any sound from my Microphon. But in Voice Meeter Potato there is sound... I am using a SM7B with an Audio Interface and on my PC Voice Meeter Potato. I have installed the Plugins on D on my PC. Dont know if thats the problem. I have also checked in 1 Left and in 1 Right by the Patch Insert under System Setting / Options on Voice Meeter... I hope someone can help me!
hello! I did as you said, but it seems the reverb is also going to my virtual sound instead of just the mic and its causing a very loud feedback on eveything. Could you help me please?
Hey man can you tell me how you got to add voicemeeter aux to your hardware input 2, mine doesn't show any voicemeeter related in the list on clicking but shows virtual mics from other software (NDI webcam).
Is using a VST host something that software like Logitech G Hub or the Rode suite emulates with on the fly audio processing? I’m looking for ways to improve my mic for a podcast. Thanks in advance!
Really helpful, my one question is when using obs i was using rnnoise suppression with all of my reaper vst's and that made it 10 times better, is there any way of using rnnoise here?
Hi and thanks for video, did you note that LH can't reload preset after its launch? at least not for all plugin. I find a workaround to setup the plugin according to my preferences and then name the preset and save it as default. When LightHost is relaunched the default preset is loaded too. Ciao!
This doesn't seem to work for me. When I enable the patch inserts in Banana the mic goes completely silent, and refuses to work unless I disable them (patch inserts). Combine this with having to manually load Light Host every time you run Windows, and that pretty much makes this useless. I appreciate the tutorial. It was clear, and concise, but somewhere along the lines something is getting borked. Since all I use the VST plugins for is SLOBS I'll just stick to those. Thank you though, you did a great job!
Check if you have any A1, A2 buttons activated at the microphone column. Those buttons make so that audio signal from the mic is sent to the output device, depending on which is activated. Also, if you're using Voicemeeter Potato, activate only B1 button next to the gain control and choose "Voicemeeter Potato Insert ASIO" in "Preferences". Then you shouldn't be able to hear yourself. Make sure that in the sound settings, "Recording" tab, the microphone device is Voicemeeter Output (VB-Audio Voicemeeter VAIO). So: 1. Voicemeeter Potato -> Microphone column (Hardware Input 1 for example) -> "B1" 2. Light Host -> Preferences -> "Voicemeeter Potato Insert ASIO" 3. Windows "Sound" settings -> "Voicemeeter Output (VB-Audio Voicemeeter VAIO)"
Hello Andrew! I need some help. When I enable any of the VSTs through Light Host, it disables my microphone in voicemeeter, so I can't hear or monitor any changes while I mess with the patches, and it basically makes it all not work at all. How can I fix this?
Whenever I click ASIO in Preferences, my Light Host just crashes.. I am unable to select it. It lets me choose the other 2 just NOT ASIO... I recently Reset my whole pc when i upgraded My Boot drive; before i did, Light Host and reaper worked perfect on VMB. But now it doesn’t let me. Help?!? Anyone have the same issue I do??
hello bro. how did you set the background music slowing down when you are talking? i don't know the right term for that. i like that technique so much.
Andrew, thank you very much for your video, I watched it in 2020, I tried several times to adjust my audio, but I couldn't, this year I tried again and it worked very well.
Hey, no worries. You can monitor it through the VST. Another great VST is Element - kushview.net/element/ - that is my main. Memory footprint is small and works well. Hope that helps.
Thank you for this video, helped me finally get going with VSTs in Voicemeeter. My only question is does Light Host have any kind of set path for the audio signal? Does it matter in which order the plugins are listed or not?
i just did everything, i am stuck with setting input in Lighthouse with my Voicemeeter. it says no such device when i select "Voice Meeter Insert Virtual ASIO" in preference
Great video, really informative. Do you know if there is any way to activate the plugins with the macro buttons? Like if I want to talk regular, then hit a macro button that turns on effects, use them, then hit macro button trigger to turn off?
Hey, Andrew- any idea if there's a way to apply this technique to my audio playback? Right now, I route my Discord audio through Voicemeter Aux (Virtual Input #2). Lighthost picks up my mic OK- but I can't seem to get the patch insert to address my system audio. Pretty sure I'm thinking about this the wrong way, but it's hard to find details online (all VST > VM tuts focus on mic, not speakers. Any tutorials on system audio tend to just use Virtual Audio cable as a workaround, but I don't want to add too much latency to my setup.) Thoughts?
Is it possible to use VST Plugins on individual Hardware Outputs? More specific: I want to use a low pass filter on A2 Output while leaving A1 Output as it is. The sound would be coming from a line-in on my soundcard which should not be changed in any way (A1 should still output the unmodified signal, only A2 should output the modified signal).
"How do I set the input in Light Host?" - he skipped this important step. In light host, go to Preferences. Change the Audio Device Type to "ASIO", then select "Voice Meeter Insert Virtual ASIO".
I’m currently using VM Potato and it runs well. What I’ve been trying to figure out is if there’s a way to compress or normalize the sounds coming out of the recorder. I have it set up as a soundboard with macro buttons (and TouchPortal) with different clips that come through my mic in discord. However, the clips have different volume levels and I can’t seem to find a way to normalize the output like you can with the inputs. For reference, I use VST plugins with VM and Cantabile for my mic. Is there a way to route the output of the recorder to hit a compressor first or is there anything built in that I can use as a limiter?
VM Banana has 5 inputs. 2 of them are virtual and they are technically input 4 and 5 (to me). I patch them via vst as well - and use a luffs meter at the end of my audio chain.
I have no idea how to get Light Host up and running, good tutorial, just missed a very important beginning process leaving most of us wondering how to follow along.
Andrew Alliance what’s really weird is I know how to unzip/extract but it didn’t come with a .exe file for some reason! If it did I wouldn’t have any issues. It’s so weird!
Andrew Alliance No worries at all! Thanks for checking! I was just trying to give solid critique, definitely not trying to be rude. The video itself was really good, I just got confused.
I follow the steps, cant seem to make it work, get all the plugins but no signal received on the VSTs. I understand your using Banana. is it compatible with Potato?
Something I realised, make sure you're selecting Voicemeeter POTATO Insert, not just Voicemeeter insert. They are two different options, didn't work for me until I I selected the correct one.

Thanks. I was using with VSTHost which is ugly and useful. But I was getting a lot of glitches and had to restart the vsthost from time to time. Light Host might be just what I was looking for.
@@AndrewAlliance you can just answer the guy's question instead of correcting light room. you know he meant to type light host....

You skipped the part where you explain how to route signal from Voicemeeter to Lighthost and back again.

Are you experiencing any kind of latency with this?
And also, is it possible to insert VSTs on the master output (A1) instead of the inputs?

I have. Another one I'd recommend is Element by Kushview (need to do a vid on that one). All VST Hosts have their quirks.
