This is excellent. The semantic majesty of re-capturing the thrust of the the original (albeit with less teeth and catharsis) is really impressive. Thank you, keep it up

My GOD. Please tour soon. If you come within a few hours of Philly, I'd love to be there.
I love this so much. It's everything I grew up singing to without the bigotry and hatred and shame.
You're doing great. Keep doing what you're doing. You're beautiful and awesome.

you know I forgot about that “what about parody of rap songs” angle that people were throwing at you, so I thought for a hot sec you straight up covered the song with no changes like Ben folds covered snitches ain’t shit years ago

Your version of Try That got me listening to you, Cast Iron Pansexual and I Never Came Out made me respect you, and Fervor For The Hunger made me realize just what a talent you truly are as a writer. You, Isbell/Shires, Peck, and Carlisle should do a Left Side of Country tour...
My youngest child came out as NB to us about 1.5 years ago. They're an adult, now 28 yrs old, so it can be difficult to change our language. So used to saying "he" of course, but even harder is when talking about them and their brother (was brothers, but one of them died in 2000) we're so used to calling them "the boys." But that's an inconsequential inconvenience. I'm glad we live in the PNW now where it's accepted, and not in Utah where we raised them.
Anyway. Keep shining, and I'll keep watching.

As the mother of a trans daughter who has taken a lot of abuse online, let me give you some love and support before the bigots get here. My daughter and I met Adeem at a show during the Americana Music Festival and it was one of the best experiences I've had. Adeem was so warm and welcoming and just a wonderful conversationalist. They really gave us time to talk about their music and our reactions and our experiences, and it was really just great. Really recommend catching a live performance if you have a chance. Also, my trans kid came out as an adult so I totally relate to the difficutly with language and stuff, but I figure as long as we are trying that's more than so many other parents even attempt, so you know, my kid at least cuts us some slack on that. 😁

@@corvidsRcool Thank you, it's always good to hear from someone in a similar situation.
They've been really understanding that we're doing our best, and haven't given us much crap when we make a mistake. Altho more than once my wife has OVERcorrected and called them "she," which has caused her a lot of embarrassment. One thing we're kind of lucky about is that they had a non-gender specific name in the first place, so they haven't felt the need to change it.
