So very happy you did this one! It was because of my watching your videos that I found AWF in July of 2020 at the height of the pandemic! Before then I ordered at your suggestion from OGS in Cali! My raised beds and 9 fruit trees are loaded with red wigglers purchased from just 1 bag at AWF last October when they finally had some in stock! I feed my worms kitchen scraps on average 1-2 times per month and my garden is thriving! Thank you both!!!

I love all your episodes, with this one being the most informative one.
I love the simplicity, yet sustainability and effectiveness of this wormfarm and the fact that he doesn't sell his worms to other countries shows how authentic and honest this man is about his farming, without doing any "new-age-worm-trend-bs".
Another very welcome fact is, that the ideas and solutions are not kept as a secret, trying to make money, but shared among other people interested in farming.
I have watched every single video about worm farming during the last 2years, this video is the best one.
What I especially like among other ideas is:
-the simple storage and vertical feeding/harvesting of the worms/castings
    -precomposting
    -local foodwastes
    -great (but loud😆) worm sifter
-black soldier flies included in the process
-seperation of casting -making worms and worms for sale.
Thank you very much for this treasure-like video

I have a 55 gallon black plastic barrel with holes drilled all over it. I constantly add kitchen scraps and garden waste to it. It's loaded with worms that migrated there on their own somehow. My yard is concrete, about 15×15 ft. So everything is in raised beds. Every spring I sift the compost through a stucco mesh frame and rescue as many worms as possible, and add them back into the barrel with a new batch of garden waste from the previous year. I use the sifted compost to top off my raised beds every spring with some organic fertilizer in granular/powder form. This year I have some HUGE tomatoes that are great for sliced tomato sandwiches with mayo, salt and pepper. Look forward to that every summer.

The best worm castings come from Vermistera also know as JL JL organics, they are in California, they are dried and sifted for 10 years for weight for shipping, the things he feeds them, and the worm tea he makes from them are the purest and have the longest shelve life of any worm tea or shipping than any other worm farm in the nation... they are great, been using them in our blueberries and it makes a world or difference!!!

I heard that worms have a gizzard like birds and need particles like that rock dust to grind up their food...🤔 I saw some worm growers sometimes give their worms corn meal, like grits.

    S.O.S!!..
I have the desire to create my own wormcasting farm..in a small scale..the more of these videos I watch ..im just amazed at the level of work that successful casting farmers do to create there black magic...
Its kind of intimidating project / life long commitment to make in my opinion...
So that is what has been stopping me...
I'm not a person who quits a project once I start
    Here is a question..
Some one like me who is interested in getting into the casting business...would worm farmers be willing to talk and share there knowledge with the new guy?.
.or is it all about proprietary blends and its top secret...
That is to say ...if I pull up the drive way at a worm farm will I receive a hand shake or 12ga. and rocksalt...hahahaha..
Could you maybe talk a bit about the worm farmers culter...what to expect for the new guys..are we welcome or hated
    Thank you

Using food waste vs landfills isn't a environmental problem until the worm farmer needs to have food & bedding made for them (does that make sense?)... food waste is returned to the earth in a landfill. Soooo over near me in NY our landfill collects the methane gas from the anaerobic break down of waste. The gas is used in electrical generators (huge ones) to supply power to cannabis grow houses and they sell the rest to the grid. The water cooling jackets around the generators is used to heat 8 acres of solar greenhouses for the "medical" weed. This landfill system is pretty common in the north-east, it makes landfilling organic waste much more environmentally safe and monetarily smort.

I take that statement about fisherman rather personally, because I've been a commercial fisherman for 30 yrs. Now yes I've seen some stupid things done out there as far as pollution goes, but more in the beginning of my career. 33 yrs ago to be exact. Times have changed. Fisherman have changed. We believe in the future and restoration of the different fishing industries. More and more boats have been making sure to bring there plastics back to shores. At least here in the United States and Canada. Like I said fisherman have been getting a bad rap for far to long. Watch these other countries that still kill whales, and cruise ships that pump there bilges into the oceans and throw waste in the water. Pleasure boats are the worst! And what about big business that dumps there toxic waste.
Now there maybe fisherman out there that don't care about the environment, but this one does and there's more fisherman like myself than the latter

We as humans ought to let the little guy give running things a chance. Politicians, with their deep pockets, just continue to lie, cheat, and steal from everyone in the world no matter what country you live in. They are all the same breed of people "GREEDY!" One last thing before I end this rant - Science is where it is at. For example I am almost positive they have cures out there for cancer. However, big pharma holds the key to that, by lining who's ever campaigns pockets that are going to back them. The goverment and big business has let me down all my life. If you don’t want plastic bags then you’d have to buy burlap bags. It’s the only one I know that’s strong enough for feed or compost.
The other thing is maybe use plastic one ton bags. It’s plastic but those massive bags you can use for a long time. They could just sell em in that and sit it in a pickup and then have them return the bag.
