Just thought I Would let you know that on several channels?I watch of people homesteading in portugal that grow carrots. They take the tops of the carrots and make a pesto out of them. You guys should try it since you have so many carrots and all you do is throw the tops out so you may want to make a pesto.See if you like it! ❤
I have 100% white sheer cotton voiles in my living room to stop people seeing in (maybe one person now and then hahahah). I love them as they let in light but obscure people seeing in just enough to make me feel comfortable.
Rob’s Irish Great Grammy is probably rolling over in the grave hearing him call Irish lace curtains “fish nets”. 👀😂 All the garden veggies look great and I love all the sunflowers!! 🌻🥰💚
Ahh lads You don't need rings for curtains most can have the rail pushed through the hem at the top That would be the voile panels as well, as yous don't have erm nets Thinking out loud.. Could the rails on both windows be hung from the ceiling? My OCD lying in bed looking at that crooked rail would give me sleepless night nights.. Black out blinds are your friend roller type Enjoyed the updates. Greetings fron Dublin
Haha long story with the voile panels 🙄, as we actually had no curtains organized and so the voile was purely for privacy and then I found the curtains after. So now we have both, however the voiles were made to go on a rail so I do need the rings. But that's ok, I think we will be ok. Yes we did consider hanging from the ceiling...Thanks for watching 😊
That soup and bread looked delicious! So much healthier and so much better for you. We are kind of conned into thinking there's only one of two types of tomato based on what supermarkets sell. It must be so satisfying making a meal like that with stuff you've grown and nurtured from seedlings in a green house you've put up with a million screws on a concrete foundation you've formed mixed and poured as a couple. Don't worry, I deliberately averted my gaze as I passed your huge bedroom window on my visit - But I did check EVERYTHING else out lol!
Like the fact 4 multi-national companies control / sell nearly 70% of all seeds sold worldwide perhaps lol? Ive educated myself a lot recently, hence why I too aspire to step off the WEF merry-go-round and live as free as I can @@WestCorkWander
Ye I wouldn't add the cream, ask people if they want to put cream on themselves. It looked delicious Rob. Claire well done on your amazing harvest and the curtains look lovely too. You are both amazing well done 👏👏👏 I hope you have a lovely evening 👍😉🇨🇮☘️Eire
I love seeing you cook. And the bread: I can imagine how it tastes. Ever since I started making my own sourdough bread roughly 2 years ago, I have never bought bread, bread rolls or cakes in shops any more. The taste is so much better! And I agree with you Rob: it does taste healthy. 🙂 I recently learned that sourdough has these amazing bacteria that are even surviving the heat in the oven. Congratulations on the harvest! I think you did really well with your garden.
Very interesting about the bacteria surviving the oven temp. Yes we have been extremely pleased with the garden produce, especially the tomatoes, thank you 😊
Saving your potatoes for next year. Cardboard box wrap your seed potatoes with news paper, store them in a dry cool place. Do not wash them, and next year take them out to chit when the SHOOTS are 2cm LONG which will take 4 to 6 weeks and do not forget to label them if using different breeds. Hope his helps. ☘☘☘☘☘☘☘ ÉRIN GO BRAGH
We are gluten free and our bread does not get kneaded. Soup looked delicious! I could almost smell it! Brown sugar!? Oh Gods, no! It was perfect as is but a big of cream would bring down the temperature well too. Delicious recipes.
I know exactly what Claire is talking about, we call them shearr curtains ROB ! 😂😂🤣 JK your channel always makes me hungry. Much love from Oklahoma USA Jackie 🇺🇸💖
We've got nets , my bf insisted......we're on the 8th floor , nearest building is 700 metres away across the dual carriageway.......I just agreed for an easy life 🙄
Save the small potatoes for the seeds for next year. Make sure they are clean and dry, rub off any excess mud. You could put them into old egg boxes closed and kept in a dark and cool place, put a couple of old cotton tea towels over them to keep them in the dark. You should check them every so often to get rid of any rotten ones. When you need to chit them next year, just open the egg boxes. Write the variety name on each egg box. I found all our potatoes for eating kept good for months, just need to make sure they are dry and dark place to store them. Don't use any plastic as it will make them sweat and they will rot. 😀
Look at that trug full of spuds, what a bounty! I am so pleased to see your greenhouse full of all of those tomatoes, makes me excited to try and replicate your massive success in future garden projects. Top work on the spelt loaf - looked epic. Got a beauty of a greek olive oil at the minute, so fragrant and delicate, great company with a good slice of bread dipped in it, no vinegar, just oil. Delicious. 2nd showing for the Tom soup - must be a winner. Enjoyed the closing scene, you two having a tipsy slice of bread and butter. Good times. Edit: Forgot to say - thanks for joining us on our first live q&a. Good to see you there! Hope you enjoyed it.
Ah thankyou! Thankfully the hard work is paying off. Great Livestream, you guys were like pros in front of the camera! Well done, we just wanted to give a little hello as good homestead community support, thanks for the mention🙂
Ok you were rude to your wife.. I have sheets in the middle of heavier drapes in my living room and ShEERS on my bedroom. You are over bearing often!! Just finish the rooms and let your wife cook .. chop chop get busy working .. less talking!!
Your bread and tomato soup look delicious! If you like a spongey, soft bread, you might try making focaccia. Topped with garlic butter or caramelized onions or bits of your garden tomatoes, onions, basil and garlic. So many things you can do, you will love it!
Yes Clare you can use your potatoes for seeds but you still might run the risk of disease but you might get disease with seed potatoes as well.just keep your potatoes in a cool dark place between 35 to 45 degrees and they should be fine
U can store the potatoes in a cool DRY place. A root cellar. Lay out on a shelf. A two” wood look blinds are nice behind sheets. You can open enough to let in light but still give u privacy.
If you put the two curtains rails at the same height you will not notice that the windows are different heights. And most definitely you have Voils 😊 completely different to nets 😮arr. Much nicer
My house has voile curtains on the front downstairs windows (not lacy old fashioned patterned nets Rob)! I get your point about old fashioned tho and I only did it at the time as neighbours pass very close to the windows and I didn’t want to feel on show! However I have recently invested in privacy film which can be put on the windows that lets light in but is slightly mirrored on the outside facing side so they can’t see in during the day (they could at night if it’s brighter inside than outside say with a light on). Maybe an option for down the road.

Net curtains aren’t the same as voile/ sheers , totally different material. Sorry Rob. Tomato soup always needs a dab of cream before serving, perfect. M.
Happy wife happy life I would tel my husband the same some times he don't get it its nice to have privacy makes me happy good job kind husband makeing your wife happy I get you girl xx❤
Great yield of potatoes Clare, after drying for a couple of days store in cardboard box with layers of hay (lasagne style) make sure they have air flow and keep in a dry dark place, any that are scraped or damaged use immediately do not store those. Loving the progress you are both making :)

Love it! Oh she would have been horrified with that description🤣
I am a single man, but I have lace curtains on my windows. They diffuse the light and also prevent anybody from seeing in clearly.
Thanks Jay exactly what I wanted them for, actually before I ever found the curtains 😊
Love your cooking and daily activities.
Thank you for watching 😊
Rob you are such a stirrer. 😄 Clare's curtains is so relatable from a woman's point of view.
Haha Marie, chief stirrer🤣 However I think he'll like them😊
Rob, voile curtains are not nets they’re a much softer look, I’m with you Claire 😁
Thanks Debbie, that's the description I'm trying to get across "a softer look" thankyou 🙂
For sourdough starter, feed it with rye or whole wheat flour. It’ll do much better than white flour.
Will defo try this thanks!
You have a point Clare, the curtain rails should be at the same hight 😊
Unfortunately I got the voils cut to different lengths so this is the height I wanted.
It’s not a net 😂 love a voile me ! 🥰
Make carrot top pesto out of the all the lovely green leaves

To elongated the curtains you could hang both curtains at top of wall!
Great idea, I have a few jobs to do to them still
U will be curtains if u dont put them up !
We got there 😆
Just let them sprout and they are seed potatoes, cut them a half in square per sprout
Definitely, have them stored away for next spring!
U can store the potatoes in a cool DRY place. A root cellar. Lay out on a shelf. A two” wood look blinds are nice behind sheets. You can open enough to let in light but still give u privacy.
Yeah we had those before and loved them. Definitely an option for here! We need a root cellar!
The Spud's will be fine in the ground for a month or two until the end of September October you keep the smaller ones for seed protect from the frost
Thank you, I was worried about the main crop because they had blight and I wasn't sure if I should remove quicker from the ground because of this.
Nope on the lights .. looks kind of cheaply
My thought at the start 🤔
Yum!
Sure was 😊
voil = posh name nets. Sorry Clare!!
Hahaha, Rob will be delighted he has some support on this 🤣🤣🤣
