There is something unsettling about Smoke, feels like he is looking thru the screen at me.
lmaoo I'm scared
Nah the transformer is even worse, you're a really bad horror rating guy man, just quit already pukemaggots!
Buy his poutine or he's gonna jump out at you
This is one of their heaviest songs, even heavier than Sad But True imo. My favorite on The Black Album
I don't enjoy the black album very much and yet, that song is a good 2nd for me - The first one being "The Unforgiven"
@@logikman329 My favorite song on that album is my favorite Metallica song. The Struggle Within. Really underrated
@@DieselRogers2008 Nah. My all-time favorite Metallica song is Fade to black. It's probably in my top 10 favorite songs across all genres of music and eras.
It's not a bad song, but i feel as though it's lacking a bit of power and could really use it. For instance, they could have sped up the whole song and I wouldn't have been mad about it! It's got attitude, but it doesn't quite have the soulfulness of southern music / blues nor the speed of thrash metal, so it stands at an awkward middle for me... But, as I've said, not a bad song and you are right to say that it gets overlooked! It's a short song and it comes at the very end of the album if memory serves me right!
@@DieselRogers2008 Fr though, that song almost feels like it doesn’t belong on the black album, like the song structure is a little bit too complex. but it still has that drum beat that screams “biker rock”. But that breakdown is no joke.
@@brandondickie3456 Yeah I agree with you, it has that heaviness that the black album holds but it also has the thrashy elements in the song too. I feel like if it's like a heavy down-picking song with some good speed to it I would like to hear it on Ride The Lightning tone because it gives me that sense of Creeping Death type of song
The tone is certainly no FAIL.
tyty
I hear enjoyment though your comment,
Loving all the comments, Liking
One of my favourite Metallica riffs, finds itself in my head all too often!
same
Bass riff in the beginning is always sending me chills
tru
Bass sounds really mighty throughout the whole album, as if James and Lars had to make some amends to Jason for whatever reason :)
@@pfzt we all know what that reason is 😏
That album is 1991/1992 for me so very much. It was playing on my casette recorder all the time… memories of spring, school break, assignments, Wolfenstein 3D, Duke Nukem, Commander Keen 4, and loads of fun playing games and tinkering with my 286 together with my cousin. Best times!! ;)
oh wow, fancy seeing you here!
The God That Failed just may be the best song on the Black Album. Definitely underrated.
agree
One of my favorite riffs and songs. I also really liked that they tuned it down half a step when the rest of the album is in standard E.
Sad But True is in D Standard.
@@the1trueporkchop it's in drop C I think
@@benparsons4979 D standard
yeah definitely D standard
@@benparsons4979 No Metallica song was in drop C prior to the St. Anger album
One of those songs where the music so perfectly marries with the lyrics. Has a tortured pacing to it which adds dread and heaviness but is also the perfect level of catchy and memorable.
Shame they never play it live.
would be cool to see live
They played that Song live. 103 Times from 1994 to 2021
They played it in Dublin 2006
Highly underrated song, and the solo is one of my favourites on that album
My absolute favorite song on the Black Album
not my favourite, but its definitely up there. Good call
What really makes this is the bass, for me. Dude, that sound... In an early Metallica album, that's saying something.
yeah the black album bass is just fat afffffff
I was lucky to see this song live.
nice yo
PRIDE YOU TOOK! PRIDE YOU FEEL!!!
PRIDE THAT YOU FEEL WHEN YOU KNEEL!
It’s so heavy it vaguely resembles the chorus riff of Pull the Plug by Death. THAT is heavy for Metallica
I played this video without sound, i just by looking at the pick i knew what riff it was. This is how much i love Metallica !
lol nice
one of the most underrated metallica songs
so happy i got to see it live back in 2019
Had this riff in my mind right now and... boom, there's your video without searching for it. Massive.
yuge
Underrated song and riff for sure.
I actually had my old Black album tab out earlier and was playing this. Really sounds awesome when you get the tone right.
the palm mutes on high volume high quality headphones fuckin rattle my skull
I love playing this song. Great lyrics, great score and awesome production, among their heaviest tracks. I also love Kirk's Solo. Can't wait for the new album \m/...
one of my favorites
One of my faves.
mice
Sweet. Might have to learn this one now
You should!
I don't understand how you get so close to the tone, crazy good
black magic, satanic rituals
I was listening to this song a while ago, you read my mind
great track
Favorite song on the album
Video 2 of asking SoF to remake No Leaf Clover by using Super Mario Galaxy's orchestra from its OST
Underrated song indeed.
The god that failed includes one of my favorite solos, as well.
The most underrated heavy metallica riff
I know man, definitely one of the riffs of all time and I should know it, because it's one of the earliest Metallica songs I learned how to play. 😗
mice
Always thought the same thing
ye boy
It’s a super easy bass line to learn, but so heavy!
I had some years in my life when I thought The God That Failed was the best Metallica song. It's still really underrated no doubt.
The bass line just sounds so good
right?!?!
Yessir!!
YUP
Bro! What about the verse of Through the never!?!? Love those little palm muted in that riff!
Has the same energy as saying: "damn this salt is spicy"
Now i understand why my dad loves this song....
;)
One of the best Metallica songs at #4 in my book!
decent ranking
@@StateOfMercurywhere would you put it?
Love their self titled album.
It’s so simple, but so effective.
yessir
my favorite Black Album. the riff is so fucking heavy
I still think this is their heaviest.
In the car, the big ambience of the drum combined with the thud of James' guitar hits harder than Fight Fire or Fire or Battery.
Easily in my top ten Metallica songs. Up with Khtulu and Frayed Ends
Black Album is really underrated and I'm not talking about Sandman, Nothing Else Matters and Unforgiven. It's the other tracks that really have excellent riffs and some fantastic solos.
I knew it would be this song before I clicked the video
MY FRIEND FROM MISSOURI!!!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I'm coming
This sounds so much like the original that I almost thought it wasn't real.
lmaoo, I appreciate this
Probably my favourite from TBA, after Sad But True. Such an awesome song!
absolutely!
Lol, I accidentally was watching this at x1.5 speed, it sounds pretty cool fast
I tried it, agree
oh nice its the new strings at work
indeed
Favorite Metallica song with Fight Fire with Fire
That heavy bass dodoTHoooooooo
My personal favorite riff is Fixxxer (at least from their newer era)
And that riff is from my fav song of all time, XD
never got into fixxxer but some of the riffs do be aight
lars munch (bonus points for smoke's poutinerie)
:beet:
Overlooked in my opinion
The god that time stood still
welcome to where time stands still
Best song in Black Album
this new "Wake up fuck!" intro is pure gold
lmao thanks, I love it
Heaviest lyrical content as well.
It's like a lost riff from the Black album
The God That Failed is such a banger.
Mi favourite album is, And Justice for all
The problem Metallica has had since forever really is consistency with tones, using the right tones for the riffs, and beats and getting songs to the right lengths and to flow properly.
Im curious. Where’d the idea for your logo came from?
esta " perron" ese riff bro lml
Is that a Smoke's Poutinery sticker?
what if the god that failed was on st anger
I don't mind the leg, but the thrusting was more distracting... lol
You should do the god thar failed on ajfa
FOLLOW THE GOD THAT FAILED
SOM stickers to smack on my guitar coming out when?
lol yeah I just realized both are in this video, will keep in mind for new store
i know that face on the guitar . kind of restaurant in ottawa
all over my canada my dude! 🤘
The Black Album was soooooo good.
GTF is one of my favorites. How about Thing That Should Not Be?
mmmhmmm another heavy af track
When james doing 5-6-7 (5-5-7) in A string. Its going bad ( did i explain my self? )
Damn right dude. Thick.
thiccccc
i think they knew they had a big hit with this one
Sounds like a lot of people hating on the Black Album because they think they’re supposed to. Take it from me: when this album was released people went bonkers for it. And I never heard anyone “boo” when a Black Album song was played at any of the several packed, sold out shows I went to in the 90’s.
The thing that should not be is one of the heavier songs and its not fast or slow its perfect
great tune
Decepticon guitar
yessir
FOLLOW THE GOD THAT FAILED!
like and subscribe the god that failed!!!
Heavier than Sad but true
hevvy
Do if darkness had a son verse riff
okie
shout out to the hole in his pants lmao
shout outs to actually only discovering that hole from editing this video lmaooo
How do tone??
MLsoundlab ML5 plus my impulses
Nothing is heavier than the thing that should not be.
what are those stains on your jeans? 🤔
whatever yo mama couldn't finish (actually orange paint marker on left, hole on the right ) but my translucent alien-like skin is illuminated by the ring light
Yeah, ole Metallica was heavy for their day. Wish I could have been old enough to appreciate it I’m their prime. I was just a baby.
@VAbyssal for sure. What I meant was be able to experience them as they came out
What a year for music that was, saw that tour three times, indoors show was incredible
The heaviest riff on the black album, nope it's not sad but true.
Lo se
Nowadays we cant see such a manner of riff writing
Only thing harder hitting in this song is bass
yeah the bass goes hard af
Antonio GU JASON NEWSTED RUclips
This somehow looks nsfw 👍
LOL
if god didnt fail this riff wouldnt exist!!!!!\
absolute truth
Harvester is way heavier man. SO thats youre opnion
but I never said harvester wasn't heavy....
