Most of the best 7.3 tuners in the world use the Hydra tuner and email their tunes. You really don't need to live tune most setups. With a gas vehicle it is different. With a diesel they already have all the standard setups figured out and can just email over the tune.
I just bought a 2000 F450 with the 7.3. It only has 49k miles on it but it is a pig. Not only does it feel super lazy, it doesn't even get great mileage. The truck came with the Fontaine package, so it has a Banks 6 shooter and I don't think the exhaust is completely stock. Even on level 6, the truck doesn't feel great. Other than that, the truck has a 4r100 and 4.88 gears (f450). Will the Hydra tune increase mileage (I know it will increase power)? Can I tow heavy (18k lbs) on your tow tune without my egts going through the roof? Will the Hydra effect the 7.3s known longevity? Is there any drawback to the Hydra, and if not, why didn't the factory just simply sell it like this? If you say emissions I will understand. I won't care...but I will understand. Lol. This truck will only be driven in Mexico, China, and India where the emissions police don't get fat paychecks. Thanks in advance!
@@KCTURBOS Id like to see how to set it up, get tunes, etc. I have no clue about tunes, and how they work. Id like an in depth video of how to set it up, add / change tunes and put the tuner on the truck..im looking at buying 7.3's. Thanks!
@@robbiemix6403 Yes, I’m walking into the 7.3 community not even two weeks now and in a learning curve on ALL the things about this engine and truck. A “how to on this would be a great thing to see. I’m overwhelmed on trying to create a plan on what to do first or why so etc.
For A stock Truck, just use the huge library of free tunes that are provided when you buy the hudra tuner. After you have then upgraded your injectors, then you can look into getting Custom tunes from a reputable tuner.
I'd like to know the differences or simularity. I thought this video by its title was just that. Going over and reviewing some of the top programers, such as Hydra and TS6 for example, before I spend a chunk of $. @KCTURBOS
The advantage to the hydra is you can have tunes emailed to you and you can change them yourself vs having to sent the chip in to be burned. The hydra has 20 tune spots and TS has 6 All custom tuners support Hydra and very few support TS Every reputable shop will recommend hydra over TS Hydra has anti theft no start and TS does not Lastly, Hydra has better transmission programming.
man this has been one of the best mods on my f250 .
The best bang for your buck for sure!
Hail Hydra!!!
I need one bad
Dynotune and drive n' tune instead if there's a dyno shop nearby. The chips are a good alternative.

Is there a more in depth video on the hydro tuner?
What would you like to see?

For a stock truck, what option is recommended?
In the future I plan to improve injectors up to 180/30

Sounds very comparable to a TS6?
Similar in that it is a tuning chip that connect to your trucks PCM. But, its superior in every way.

TS6 is sub par. Gives a lot of guys issues esp with shifting. You need to get a hydra and do not look back
