I will say this. When I got into the trucking industry I got the WIOA Federal Grant to pay for school. I got all my endorsements while in school as well. One thing I want to mention, I have a felony conviction and I was able to pass the background check for my Hazmat endorsement. Just throwing that out there…
Trucking has saved my life and given me a second chance when no one else would. 3 1/2 years later, I just bought a brand new 5 bedroom house in Texas and I'm a fuel hauler and work locally and I’m home every day and living the American dream. God bless America!!!!
This is motivation I’m going through that progress right now supposed to be starting school in a few weeks good luck out there on growing even more💯💯🙏🏽
I'm in Texas as well, how did you go about the entire process?
I am also going through the WIOA program, I am just at the beginning process but in SC, I too have a felony even though its 20 plus years old, it is still there, what did you think about the process of the WIOA? I ask because they aren’t really forthcoming here about the process, they just feed it to me step by step. I have my permit with tanker but intend on testing out with hazmat as well, I want all the endorsements possible.
Same process I’m going with.
I’ve been waiting 5 months for the Woia in florida. Who can i call? The career source keep telling me “they’re balancing budget” 🤦♂️ I’m patiently waiting but i didn’t know it was this hard to get the grant 😞
I did my research and had it narrowed down to (in order): Prime, Wilson Logistics, and Swift. I’m out of Florida. Ended up going with Prime. First phase is PSD, they give you $200/week for food. That phase is training you to pass the CDL exam. Once you pass, you’ll move to TNT, $900/week, out on the road. You’ll pay back the PSD money ($25/week). I believe it’s back to 50k miles combined trainer/trainee. It’s a one year contract, 9 months for military veterans. I started and trained in reefer and ended up training and working in tanker. Terminals can’t be beat. Good company overall.
Thank you so much for your insight! How much can you make in your second year there? Will you stay with that company?
I left about a month ago, personal reasons. I was a lease operator. Making over $100k a year isn’t out of the question IF someone wants to run hard. Prime is the largest refrigeration company out there. Tanker is their smallest division. Food grade side ran Chicago to the east and south.
Also, not mentioned in the initial message. Prime does pay for you to get to their terminal. Food is provided as is lodging. In Springfield MO, they have their own hotel.
I wanna do prime, but i see you have to have the h endorsement. I have the cdl a permit tho.
Need tanker. That’s only because on the refrigeration side you can haul liquid items (beer, water, juice, etc). Doesn’t mean you’ll be a tanker driver.
Can I email you please? Very interested in trucking had my CDL b for power line work but it's been a few years anyways if you don't mind I have some questions
Thank you for putting together this video for people who are finding it difficult looking for a company to work for (Starter wise) Job well done!

Ive got to say man coming from someone who has tried his best with the normal options in my area where the median income is 18,000 yearly. 40-50-60k+ sound unreal. I may be dirty now, but once this thc is clean from my hair and body ill be the best damn driver this side of the Mississippi.
DETOX DETOX!! Yessir
Same here.
I quit burning 50 days ago today.
It wasn't easy but I've smoked enough that I can give it up for the next five or ten years to make twice as much as I've ever made. I've been in third party warehousing so if anyone knows what that's like...quitting is worth it for a CDL.
I only wish I would have done it ten or twenty years ago. 😂
@@HankBukowski I’ve seen plenty of middle age - (a lot older than middle age) men in training. Better late than never.
Money us better then dope drink a beer ha!
The fact is even with the numerous negativity, for a 21 year old person it will probably be the biggest paying job they have ever had. Especially if the live in the truck. If you jump through all the hoops, put up with all the crap, stay with your first company at least a year or until you pay off the school , save your money by living in your truck , then you will find yourself in a position of power where you will have many options. Whether that means buying your own truck or having the money to change careers. Trucking is a good, not easy, opportunity for 21year old people.
I love it!! If I could go back to a single 21 year old kid this would be a great career decision in my mind. It’s a spring board to many other possibilities and opportunities.
Amen! I just turned 22 two months ago! Ready to grind it out like you said!

So as a non trucker easily racks up 80-90k miles a year between his meat truck and suv. Has been telling me to get a CDL for years. Said if he was a single guy in 20s or 30s without college or sales. CR England, Prime and KLLM will push the lease purchase program to buy your own truck. Most experienced owner/drivers will recommend driving a company truck for at least 3 years before considering buying your own truck. A lot of lease purchase owner operators go broke because they are not trained to run a business and owning your own truck is a business. I drove company trucks for 13 years ang grossed $90k my last year working 5 days a week for ESTES Express.
Im going into trucking cause it's a passion. My second cousin was a trucker and I loved sitting in his peterbuilt when I was little listening to it roar. Since I was 2 I would get ablitterated everytime I saw a big truck going down the road. Then I was raised up as a teenager around a dump truck business.
Thanks for sharing. It's great to hear people still grow up with a passion for these things.
Just got accepted into swifts cdl program, as a former mail carrier now, I enjoyed being on the street with minimal interaction with management, so I choose trucking as it requires less than that haha.
Repent and believe in JESUS CHRIST (MARK 1:15).
No!
Making 800 to 900 a week and being away from your family 3 weeks out should be a crime

My cdl program starts in June. Since my program is already being paid for I’m going this route. I was lucky enough to win a grant scholarship at the local community college. But the full price is $3,000 for cdl a. But I was gonna go with prime or swift instead of this route but I’m lucky things worked out.

I am single , no kids and my lease for my apartment is up in October. I have my CDL permit and medical card. I am serious about my CDL but the school I started at want me there 10 hours per day and the instructor has some issues. I am ready to leave this training and move on to a job . Basically I need my CDL while making some money!
Hang in there
Please I need help for the step by step all I need to do to get my cdl . How do I get the Permit , medical card and all please 🙏
Funny i am in the same position. I have my permit and medical. The school im at is so unprofessional its not even funny. I got to class once a week if that. Im ready to just hit a company that all you need is your permit and see if they can get me my cdl A
CR England sucks. They left me in a cheap hotel until my driver code was about to expire. They threw me into a truck with a guy i never met before that was exceptionally weird. The dispatchers were always angry, who knows what they had to deal with. They wanted me to drive by tail lights in a snowstorm at night through the mountains. If that is not enough, the pay is lousy and you are basically an indentured servant. If you decide you don't like it you have to pay them for your training anyway.
Yeah I read a lot of bad things about them n he opened up with them like naw...
There's also CFI, Wilson Logistics, Stevens Transport, Dart Advantage, Pam Transport, and Hirschback plus many others that train to get your cdl. I may go with CFI or Wilson (which is partnered with Prime). I have a class B already also and looking to upgrade.
I appreciate that Joana!! Are you using your CDL B right now to drive?
Schneider is another one
@@sidehustle247 sorry for the late response. As of now I’m not driving or using my class B.
@raytrammell9452 yes on their new trucks
KLLM is by far the best one…or Roehl.. only thing about KLLM.. they’re kind of haunting on new driver training
I worked for CR England about 15 years ago after going through their school. Back then, they used paper log books, and if you were a solo driver with them, they REALLY pushed you to keep inaccurate logs. So you could drive legal and keep your books clean for the most part and make almost no money at all or lie on your log books and get ticketed or fined, but make decent money. When I was driving for them, some of the stations were catching on and checking every CR England driver's log books. The only way to make honest money was driving teams.
Also, with their lease program, CR England would lease trucks from a dealership for one price, then lease the trucks to their drivers that were interested in their lease program for twice the price! CR England is a pretty crooked company. Just know that going in.
Not even mentioning Schneider, who like Roehl will pay you to get your CDL. That alone puts these two as the only ones Id ever recommend to others and between the two you have your pick of what sector of trucking you wanna get into.
Could I contact you for more info on these 2 companies and trucking in general? I’m in the process of looking for CDL program. I would really appreciate you discussing if further with me. Thanks man.
I live in Atlanta, GA. There is alot of them here in the surrounding areas of Atlanta. They're not actually in Atlanta. Got my cdl b too. Got the cdl permit for a. I gotta figure out what imma do. I drive otr now with these Charter buses, but we have so much down time too. I know its much different with the truck.
How is the money with what your doing now?
@@sidehustle247 Its ok as long as you do shuttles or stay gone from home alot. You get paid by the trip. I'm with Academy Bus.
I just called CR England & a company called premier answered. They don't offer company paid training.
As a 12 year OTR driver, the pros and cons of company paid CDL training:
Pros:
You already have the job. You just need the CDL.
There are little to no out of pocket expenses.
Sometimes comes with real-world training with your permit.
Sometimes you get paid during your training.
Cons:
1+ years of working for the company or you have to pay for the training.
Trainers are not always best at training others.
There is no real support system (family) nearby for most people.
Sometimes, they are forced to live in a box with a complete stranger until you get your CDL.
As long as they have no issues with most of the cons, they will do fine.
When you say box you mean living in the truck?
@jayski941 Yes. It's a vary small living arrangement, and that's why I call it a box. Feel your trainers out. Find out if you two will even get along before getting on their truck. They are supposed to get paid more to train, but this isn't always the case. Solo, I made over $2k a week on average. Training, I've gotten around the same if not a worse average, depending on the student. As a student, your job is to learn all you can whenever you can. So, if your trainer is driving more than you, backing more than you, or over all working more than you, then you are not doing enough. I say this because I've had a lot of students give me a line like, "You're just using me for miles." This is not entirely accurate. Yes, I get paid for the truck moving under load. But the student gets paid weekly and is also learning at the same time. It's experience and education that normally costs the student money to get.
If you are interested in driving a truck, then keep this in mind. It will save you and the trainers a lot of headaches on the road.
Unless you live nearby to one of their terminals, I would skip CRengland. They gave me so much grief while I was there. Company logistics are bs, and if you are new, they'll find a waybof sabotaging you. You'll be making the bare minimum, and carrying the loads that are either overdue, or that nobody wants to carry. Let's no get started about dispatch...
Which is the best that will hire someone from Miami,Florida?
CR England does not pay for Premier trucking school. Not sure where you got this information. It clearly states two ways to pay for school on their website: Debit card $3,500... Financing $5,000. Additionally, they require you to pay for all your testing fees out of pocket. So the aforementioned pricing does not stop there.
Correction: I did not find the pricing on their website. Rather, I submitted my information for their Premier Schooling and the pricing + options I provided was in their email response. Additionally, I was contacted by their recruiter, and told him "I'm looking for paid schooling"... never heard from the guy again. Also, I typed in the URL just as you have it on your upload... and that web page has been removed.
Melton and Beelman do a solid---I heard from several rookies they do a solid job for their newbies

they also take non-cdl people as well. but as soon as i watched 2 ppls videos on KLLM i said no....1 guy showed his paychecks and they were all over the place. also you have to get your own microwave and also if you get a ticket from being to overweight or whatever the case...they take it out of your check. @@jessicagriffin5920 I've got 8 years of work history in the states, but that was 7 years ago and in a completely unrelated field. C.R.England is a good trucking school
Not sure about that. During backing training you have the entire class of like 50 people lined up at the different stations just to take a turn. I only got to practice alley dock 3 times before having to take the test. I waited 4 hours each time for my turn since it took 30-45 minutes for each student. It was ridiculous. They don't pay while in training, so a lot of guys were begging for money to get some food. Then, my first night, when I got picked up by my trainer, he said here's where we're going and wake me up if you have any problems. I was like "What?!" I about had a heart attack to find out the trainers don't actually train. They just sleep cause they have to drive later

Hello sir how about outside country I'm from Philippines 47 yrs old
Yes you can drive in the USA it just requires you have a USA driver license for a year before you get your Class A
C r England won't pay for school
Have my Class A permit w/air brakes, having a hard time getting anywhere that’ll hire me with the training. I have a DUI from October 2019 that’s holding this all up. If I knew most companies were 5 years of clear driving I wouldn’t have wasted my time and just waited. Any advice?!
Man unfortunately that is a problem everywhere. I might try Republic and driving a garbage truck for a bit. They can be more laid back. I can’t promise but it’s a possibility.
Don't drink and drive!
There is several companies with 3 year waiting period, and one with a 2 year waiting period
Did they fingerprint u or just normal background check?
I'm going to roehl
Roehl is pronounced Rail.
My friend wants to become a trucker, 26 years old, from Hemet can I call he has you phone? Then he can call you.
Thats a negative.
This guy rambles a lot…smh
Who are you talking to? All your YT friends? Or are you just trying to get someone to notice you?
are there any for 19 year olds?
Good question
Prime and Rhoel like to discriminate against me
Become homeless on wheels ,welcome to the unemployment line of America, if your married better get a divorce lawyer, best advice is do not get a cdl period!!! 38 yrs experience 3 million miles experience cross country , if you listen to these u tube channels you'll be better off getting an education in plumbing ,welding, accounting, anything but trucking ,oh I forgot they are automatic transmission trucks ok that's not being a truck driver not knowing and able to shift 13 gears .the industry is oversaturated oversaturated oversaturated low wages !!!! 200 a week to 400 a week ,then they say smoke and mirrors become a lease operator, why pay for fuel, tires, oil and fuel filters air filters ,back side of social security ,unemployment taxes, intake taxes, cargo liability insurance bobtail insurance, stuff these utube guys have No experience in handling,
@ErinPaley sorry never see. That one
Did you mean to say 8 to 12 HUNDRED? 12K is not correct for cdl training. We need accuracy.
Who are talking too? I know what I paid for my CDL B in Georgia. I also know what it was for a CDL A. Do you live in Georgia? I am not even sure what you are talking about. You saying things like you an I have been talking about something specific.
Dude you didnt even ups? In a top 5 list? Literally the best company you can work for and they will get you your cdl, for free because they know youre not gonna quit once you go feeder. Lol

Can you answer this for me? For the DOT drug test do they do hair or urine? I'm getting conflicting info online. I have locs and don't want to fuck up before I even get the permit.
Never heard of a hair test, but I can’t definitively say that’s everywhere across the board.
Def hair and pee test
I have locs too I just got my permit from the DMV no drug test at all.
WOW! very costly. I have a friend considering his CDL....just WOW. APTTMH ALONE
Yep it is super expensive to get your CDL A or B. Use a company to break into the industry to get training and experience.
@@sidehustle247 TY. I'm just trying to help my friend that is an experienced truck driver. Guess I should talk with him b 4 I go further. Thanks so much! APTTMH AND HIM ALONE
