Did you see the video that Dustin Klein released this weekend (ruclips.net/video/ibiHqisZ_2o/видео.html)? My mind was blown when 2 people I watch all the time merged into one brilliant star for a moment. Stay awesome. Always looking forward to new videos - whenever you can provide them. That reminds me - time to buy a hoodie. :)
Nice to see that you share similar beliefs and values with Michael Saylor, those who are on the same cosmic wavelength always seem to find each other. 🟠💊
I feel like van struggles with the thought that his posting of these videos is self serving and thus less deserving of praise. I love all of your videos, Van and think that the most valuable service you are providing is inspiration
He is only talking about it to justify himself or take minds off it when it was never really a debate anyways... "isn't van so great guys omg he is so self aware what a spirited guy" typical
@@smashyrashy I’ve thought about this a lot. Generosity. The concept of helping those in need of it. In my mind, I’ve determined that as long as the help is being provided…I really don’t give a fuck about the motivations. Bc they are introducing that positivity into the world which can be infectious. There are those who do it for glory. There are those who do it bc they can’t bear to see someone suffer when they have plenty. There are those (the majority) who do it bc they know it’s the right thing to do and maybe there’s a tiny bit of self interest that gets them there. I’ve probably been guilty of all three of these levels. But you know what…I certainly didn’t hurt anyone. I only helped.
Van, thank you so much for encouraging people to fix things! Too many individuals throw things away. Keeping and repairing an item tells a story and your work helps people share theirs.
This is the exact same power station I use at go-kart races. Works great for for powering my lights and recharging my air compressor. It takes a ton of abuse and is covered in oil and grease and runs great.
I particularly appreciate that as you interviewed the Rabbi, you let him speak for a solid minute and a half without interrupting. That stood out as being different than most interviews or podcasts that I watch nowadays. Mad respect.
I feel like you are a man slowly honing in on the true meaning of life. What could be better than to use one's skills to help others? Oh, and that highest form of service that the Rabbi spoke of...you are performing that, right here on this channel.
My dad past away one year ago and rediscovering all these videos feels like and epiphany to me. He was an spirited man too. Always trying to fix everything. Thanks for all, Van.
I read in a book once that money isn't intended to be hoarded, it should be fluid and move often. Putting money to use is what brings happiness and purpose. Same goes for skills, no need to hoard these skills, but sharing them for free also brings happiness and purpose. Van gets it and he is in a way teaching us that too.
You deserve it all, man! I absolutely loved the Rabbi's answer to your question. It was spot-on. One value you bring which you might not have thought about, at least you didn't speak about it, is that you encourage people to see value in things they thought had no value anymore, by inspiring them to see something fixable. Not just fixing it yourself. At a fleamarket someone might buy an item off someone else, knowing that it might be fixable. Otherwise that possibility might not have even existed. You spread sustainability and the idea of circular economy.
Van, this is one of my favorites. I am both a fan and student of yours. I too have an upcoming video that will be sponsored by EcoFlow and I cannot believe the versatility of that device. What a brilliant way to share the benefits of a solar generatorI admire your service and willingness to share it, which is a service to me in itself. Thank you for the inspirational video.
I never understand how people can dislike a video that leaves a good impression with it's audience. When i saw the instagram post for free repairs, I knew this would be something special. Great work Van!
The best of us struggle with these kinds of thoughts. The realisation that often comes to my rescue is: It is the intention behind your action that must be studied. Not the action. Have a great day Van!
I’m very impressed by you! I’ve never watched a video anything like this with the cinematic shots and commentary over it. I came from Colin & Samir and I now better understand why you were on their show. Also, this video is like a free service to me like the repairs are.
This was so positive and wholesome it brought tears to my eyes. I've been really stressed about life lately and just knowing that this sort of positive, good-spirited interaction still exists between people makes my heart feel good. These people all brought trinkets to be repaired, but what they really wanted was to smile and laugh with you. That's worth so much!
Van, You inspire people to make things instead of buying things. These videos help promote that concept. Your service is greatly needed and appreciated.
The creating, fixing, giving, are all mutual goods. These acts are not only good if the giver does not receive anything in return. You should be proud that you are bringing positivity to peoples lives and getting positive benefits in return.
That's a lot of fun. Service is often it's own reward. I was taught service as a young man, and some times it doesn't feel good at the time, but looking back, it is a good memory of a good deed. I bet the fair was a lot of fun and I am sure many of the people were just happy to meet you and that's service too.
Thanks for uploading this Van! I don’t think you’re giving yourself enough credit- you’re a great inspiration in general, but this video is a great reminder to find a second life for something that was original going to the trash. I’m currently waiting for four pairs of shorts to get back from repairs by Patagonia, and am excited to see what sort of patchwork had to be done. Often I think that repaired stuff is better than new because it tells a story of love and care, and it got a second look over by someone who knows what they’re doing. Cheers!
Most days I walk around my neighborhood and I pick up thing from the trash that might be repairable. Most common things are fans, vacuum cleaners & other small electronics. I have GAD and it helps with my symptoms, too.
Van, don’t worry brother…remember your the main character. I love how deep you think but your audience knows that your a great guy. We like to watch you make choices in your life because we like the way you live and look at you for inspiration. You def inspire my friend. Great piece. I’m always looking for your next video brother!
This fulfilled man is happy to see this spirited man in his element this service brings out the spirited man or woman in all of us repairing things making it our own, this spirited man knows how to bring this artistic side in people and it showed when people showed up and asked him to inject the spirited touch to their belongings. A very noble service indeed good job Van!
Whether you're stitching up snapbacks, engraving knives, or talking about the ways of The Spirited Man, you are doing a service sir and I thank you for it.
I'm amazed not more people know about Van's channel, he deserves way more viewership and more people need to benefit from his content. In some ways, its so much better than even Casey's, nothing against Casey though, I follow him and he's wonderful but Van is on a whole different level. His work is so original, nothing like I have ever witnessed before in my life and I'm 42 and have been around. He's extremely thoughtful in his presentation and is very careful with what he says and how his message should be perceived, which makes it special and personal. Keep making more content and we will keep absorbing it and keep improving our own lives by simply getting inspired. There is nothing self-serving about giving people to look at things positively. Thank you for reading through.
Loved hearing about various ideas of service. Van - in so creating this channel, you have committed an act of service on many levels. Bringing together art, science, creativity, morals, and even some spirituality to create these videos is a tremendous service to all. Thank you for your service.
Van, aside from the direct service you were delivering to the people who's things you were fixing, you were also providing a secondary service: inspiring people through your video; Inspiring people to help others and be of service. In this way I believe your service has a much farther reach - so the fact that it is sponsored or it gives exposure absolutely takes nothing away from the fact that it is service. Thank you for your service and inspiration :)
You do not need to feel guilty for helping others... on the contrary, you should feel proud! If repairing is a value to you, if other people is a value to you, its a value to you help others. You will be better off, other people will be better off. Its a win - win relationship... I've learned that by reading Ayn Rand, the Virtue os Selfishness. Unfortunantely, religious morality teaches us wrong, teaches us to be selfless... but man's nature is to be proud of achieving values... that's happiness..
Great video Van! I have often asked myself about the moral dilemma of people using service as a mean to virtue signal and in fact, i have in the past been reluctant to "serve" in case it was misconstrued as virtue signalling. This has forsure changed my outlook. Thank You.
You keep on one-upping yourself Van. thanks for sharing! Hoping to scroll through the comments and see some people that got to attend you free repair station below!
Hi Van. As you say, before you met Rabbi Weiss, who knows? You never know what someone needs to hear. Maybe I need to hear all the sincere things you said. Thank you for saying them. =)
This video warmed my heart. I imagined myself being able to get a repair or custom engraving done by Van for FREE. It would mean so much to me to have someone I looked up to take his valuable time to fix/enhance my stuff. Just watching these fellow fans (Spirited guys and gals) and seeing their reactions made me realize without question that this is worth doing by Van.
Thanks Van, for the well told charitable existentialism, dual narrative, delivered in only a way that you can deliver. Fantastic and Thank you. And thanks to EcoFlow
van, I think you have the best videos on RUclips. so good. I really appreciate it. to me, they are video essays, philosophy and introspection on display. I often feel "left out" on a lot of the modern trends, but what you are creating resonates with me on many levels. thanks!
this is the episode I was waiting for, since you started this channel. :D At the begining I thought that every Video will circle around this topic. I'm glad you found a way to do your Service while sticking to your principles. Keep up that great work bud.
Good video and thought provoking. I feel that I “help” others because I receive an immeasurable feeling in return. However, only after the deed is performed. Don’t be too hard on yourself Van, I’m sure we can find plenty of people to do that as a free service as well. Keep up your great work! Stay Gold!
I've loved your channel since day 1. This film is a great idea and I hope you consider making more similar. Exploring ideas (the interview) and trying them in the way only you're able to.
Since I can remember, I’ve found great pleasure from fixing things, anything, for myself or someone else. Is it service if you value the process more than the benefit the repair brings? Not sure but it’s given reason to my life.

0:39 DUDE! You filmed 10 Bullets! You're filming this! You're constantly serving those around you and those you love! It's in your DNA!
Happy Birthday!

I agree. What Van is doing is beautiful 😍
Thank you Van for your service 🙏 ❤
Yessss 👏🏻
Please make this a regular event. Devastated I couldn't come.
I always knew William is Spirited! Haha!
2 of my worlds have just collided. Willem is definitely a spirited man!
crazy the willem verbeeck of photography
Van, thank you so much for encouraging people to fix things! Too many individuals throw things away. Keeping and repairing an item tells a story and your work helps people share theirs.
Do you know YT is taking a poll asking how we feel about your comment? Wtf
This is the exact same power station I use at go-kart races. Works great for for powering my lights and recharging my air compressor. It takes a ton of abuse and is covered in oil and grease and runs great.
Also, to the point of the video... I love it and what you do. ❤️
I particularly appreciate that as you interviewed the Rabbi, you let him speak for a solid minute and a half without interrupting. That stood out as being different than most interviews or podcasts that I watch nowadays. Mad respect.
You provide a service by often putting a smile on my face. Neither of us knows the other. Thank you
I feel like you are a man slowly honing in on the true meaning of life. What could be better than to use one's skills to help others? Oh, and that highest form of service that the Rabbi spoke of...you are performing that, right here on this channel.

Thank you for fixing my toolbox and for the conversation! You're the man, continue to serve and inspireing others to serve.
I read in a book once that money isn't intended to be hoarded, it should be fluid and move often. Putting money to use is what brings happiness and purpose. Hola, Cana Dude. What the book is called?
@@Luis-sj4wg Sorry, I can't recall. It was one of many self-help business books I read over the years.
You deserve it all, man! I absolutely loved the Rabbi's answer to your question. It was spot-on. I would have never seen a Habad Rabbi coming in a Van Neistat vlog. Love that

Thanks for making my guitar more special
I never understand how people can dislike a video that leaves a good impression with it's audience. When i saw the instagram post for free repairs, I knew this would be something special. Great work Van!
Not that we would know anymore if anyone on RUclips ever disliked any video anyway lol
There's a lot to love about this, not the least of which are the sledgehammer light stands. Genius.
What a pleasure seeing someone figure out fixes for problems live...and then, the other people reaction, that is moving!!!👏🏻
This is fantastic. The Cuban spirit!
Most of Van's videos make me think, but this one made me smile the most. Definitely service, if there was ever any doubt.
the interview setup with the two sledgehammer lamps and opposite mics on the table is like an art piece
Providing inspiration to others is a service in itself
and one of the greatest service ever
This was a great one. The rabbi conversation was an excellent touch.
The best of us struggle with these kinds of thoughts.
The realisation that often comes to my rescue is: It is the intention behind your action that must be studied. Not the action.
Have a great day Van!
“Maximum serves to God and to others” is our primary purpose 👌
Thanks.
I enjoy watching people being kind.
This is what I look forward too seeing pop up on my RUclips feed
I feel I could give this man my heart & he would mend it
Service is selling.. and selling is service!
You asked a good question about service, and I so enjoyed Rabbi's answer. Thanks! And I smile happy every time I use my I-Ching coin box :)
Service to others and yourself at the same time must be the best kind. Makes you want to serve even more.
I wasn't able to make it to the repair station, but your videos repair a bit of my soul each time I watch. Thanks.
Van and Chabad, Great collab!
Van - Your awareness of the duality of your service in the modern day shows that you’re heart is in the right place. Keep on trucking!
Jesus, the amount of effort that goes into these videos. Not taken for granted my good sir!
I’m very impressed by you! I’ve never watched a video anything like this with the cinematic shots and commentary over it. I came from Colin & Samir and I now better understand why you were on their show. Also, this video is like a free service to me like the repairs are.
You know what sets your videos apart, aside from all the great work you do? The music. It’s so spot on, always.
This was so positive and wholesome it brought tears to my eyes. I've been really stressed about life lately and just knowing that this sort of positive, good-spirited interaction still exists between people makes my heart feel good.

What a kind gesture to fix things for people and take a few minutes with them. Time is a great gift.
Van,
You inspire people to make things instead of buying things. These videos help promote that concept.
Your service is greatly needed and appreciated.
Cool station and was fun to include that interview!
Thank you, van. For this moment of divine intervention.
Amazing ideas and repairs. You feel like it was “only 20” but you made at least 20 peoples day better. Great job!
Thanks for giving us another great video. Agreed, the feeling of giving and loving is a unique reward.
Service is its own reward. Keep you the great work! You're inspiring!
The description with books recommendations..❤❤...

The sound design. The script. The hard work shows. I am a fan
Thanks for uploading Van . Hope you have a good week.
This video is very healthy to the human spirit
Your very existence, especially in the public realm, is a great service for the world, and for me personally.
This was amazing. One of my favorite videos you’ve put on the RUclips so far.
The creating, fixing, giving, are all mutual goods. These acts are not only good if the giver does not receive anything in return. You should be proud that you are bringing positivity to peoples lives and getting positive benefits in return.

Didn’t expect to see a Rabbi here. A beautiful surprise.
Really happy to the video in the feed.. keep up the good work ..
Fantastic video. Love to see the third-person narration back, and you weaved all the many elements in this essay together so well.

Good story Van, like the use of the expert interview with the Rabbi
I've always been really good with my hands and figuring out how things work, and how to fix them. This is so inspiring. I want to do this!
this is the episode I was waiting for, since you started this channel. :D At the begining I thought that every Video will circle around this topic. I'm glad you found a way to do your Service while sticking to your principles.

I love your spirit. Have a great Birthday!!
Thank you, Van.
Beautiful compilation of work.

Man this makes me so happy
Thank you Van. I needed this video and didn't even know it. ♥️
Thank you for your service
I promised to repair a toilet flush button... and I was looking for excuses not to. Well, then this video came in. My family praises you, Van.
Wow! What a badass video Van!
I am just happy to see that my favortie favorite spirited man, is a left handed!
