Great to see that someone cares about keeping tradition and not deciding that it should just be replaced. We live in a throw away society where instead of repairing everyone replaces things!!! Good job young man!!!!
Hi Mick, the hammer turned out wonderful- it's nice that you fixed up something that belonged to your dad. The oil coating at the end made it look amazing! I love that you put the coin back in the hammer :-D I hope you are well and keeping warm and I hope you are still enjoying the painting 😉 I look forward to your next video. Sending you all my love from England, Baya xxx
Reminds me of daddy's shop. He could build anything. Daddy could look at something, study it, go home draw a diagram, then build it better than the original. I miss him. He went to Heaven in 2018 at 91.❤❤Phoenix and Chewbacca mom
Thank you for taking us along on your journey. I love the story about the hammer. It made me smile because I purchased a framing hammer because the light hammers we had laying around took a lot of swings to drive the nails into our shed project. I am a verticality challenged female and my husband did not like the heavier hammer. I think it depends on your technique. I let the hammer do the work on the drop and use the rebound to help me lift it for the next hit. For finish work I use a lighter hammer and more control. I love that your family is so thrifty and good at using the resources that are available. Thank you again for another informative and entertaining video. ❤🙏😊
Too many people just don’t see the value in usable family heirlooms. It’s encouraging to see you guys simply replacing the handle instead of chucking the entire tool. I like your friend’s neat and tidy shop, and those dogs are gorgeous and well behaved. Ian’s a great guy.
That was fun and no I know how to fix a handle on an implement. I think it's neat that you're continuing to carry the tradition on and that you put the quarter back in was really cool. Enjoy the journey, Blessings❤
When the only 2 real men you have ever seen in your life are younger than your kids. I love how the 2 of you value what you have. Not materialistic, but appreciative. You're beautiful people!
nice! I love creative ideas you have had behind some of your more recent videos. We love the cabin building videos, but its cool to see some of the adventures and projects you are up to!
Hey Mick. Love that you are doing Videos outside of working on the Cabin. I found this to be a very informative and interesting Video. I love your narrations too.
I love that you keep the tradition alive. I remember your dad talking about the hammer in a video. Have you ever thought of getting you a pet or a doggy? Are you going to be able to visit your family in Michigan for Christmas? Happy holidays Mick ❤
I have made my selection of you tube channels about young and old hard working people who are kind and mellow. So glad you are enjoying the hammer you father passed down to you and treating it with respect. Yes it is an inanimate object but it says a lot about your character the way you treat things as well as people. May God continue to bless you richly.
Old family tools do have a special feel, I have my grandfather's hammer, and a few other tools, well over 100 years old. He quit working in the 1950s, He was a stone mason , came to Canada in 1918 or so.
In a time of need, a wedge is a wedge. Even if it’s a quarter….old timers used to tell me about sticking the head of a hammer, axe or maul into a bucket of water/creek after installing a new handle to swell the wood for a tighter fit. Hard to beat a good California-style framing hammer….
I am glad to see you return the quarter where you found it! That was cool… might ask your dad about it… sounds like a neat story you could use for a video :)
Hi buddy how are ya? Good to see ya!! Maybe ya know already but there is a better way of pulling nails with the claw of your hammer. Put the claw on the mail to be pulled, but instead of doing like all people do, lean the hammer over from side to side. This greatly increases the mechanical advantage of leverage. The handle is side loaded against the side cheek of the hammer head so less likely to break. The nails come out looking like stair steps this way, ya won’t break the handle. I learned this back in the day as a new framer. Hope this helps buddy take care stay warm. God bless you and your family.
I have a truck I got from my dad before he died. It’s probably worth $5000 in mint condition. I paid $12k doing a frame off restoration. My wife isn’t even mad at me. 😂 it’s less about the value and more about the memories and experiences.
I suppose you’ve been told ,as well as being handsome, that you have a perfect voice for audio recording and dictation. You would be perfect for narration.
Great to see that someone cares about keeping tradition and not deciding that it should just be replaced. We live in a throw away society where instead of repairing everyone replaces things!!! Good job young man!!!!
I have heard your Dad speak about that special hammer many times it is nice to see that you treasure it as much as he did!!!
“It’s not just laying around it’s cherished” such amazing insight! Love it
Ian is my kind of guy... Random cool shit laying around the shop is something i relate proudly to
Haha some people say I have to much random stuff 😂 it’s all useful to me

Seems there aren't enough young people who value traditions. Thanks for sharing this!!
Replacing that coin where it belongs was awesome! I love the story of the hammer! 💕🇺🇸💕

You are awesome to appreciate the legacy of your parents.

Some people wouldn’t understand the desire to do what you did here. I, and others, totally get it. Nice job!
Very nice job on the handle. Nice touch adding your initials.

Having great friends that have a shop is always a bonus love it
Seeing new videos more often is a happy day ❤
Your filming and editing style really effectively captures the satisfying feeling of building/repairing things
That's beautiful, Mr. "MW!" Another inspiring video, Mick
I love that you took the time to repair the hammer very nice job! I hope you get to use it a lot as your journey continues! Peace and blessings! 👍🏼
I love the new old hammer and it was interesting to watch it being repaired so thanks for sharing.
Love that you repaired the hammer. What a priceless treasure. Ian’s shop is a place of many surprises! 😆

Nice appreciation for family tradition!
Lot of history in that hammer.
Thanks , nice job on the hammer. Your friend keeps a nice tidy shop.
Your respect for the tools passed down to you from your elders is admirable. 👍👍🤠
Nice job on the hammer handle replacement. I’m happy to see you honoring your dad’s hammer. 👍👍
"Shop Of Whimsey"...that's awesome.

Shop of whimsy is right! Great job on the handle.
The new handle plus coin looks great. It is so nice that you replaced the handle.
I love that you keep the tradition alive. I remember your dad talking about the hammer in a video. Have you ever thought of getting you a pet or a doggy? Are you going to be able to visit your family in Michigan for Christmas? Happy holidays Mick ❤
Yes. He said that was his favorite hammer. That shows you the love and pride he has for Mick.

You and Ian could make a ton doing arts and craps and selling them! Ian is good.
the time lapse boogie was my fav 🤣
It's great to see how much youve progressed from this time last year!

In a family of 10, 5 girls and 5 boys, I have my Dad's (RIP) hammer. I treasure it! I enjoyed this video. Thanks 😃
Happy holidays, Mick! Thank you for so many little reels lately. Its good to see you happy and thriving ✨️ ✌️❤️
Great job. Beautiful dogs. 😊
Never seen this type of work before. Very interesting. Ty!
Nice that you put coin back. Have a great week Mick
The handle looks spectacular 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Beautiful, Mick!!!
Nice shop, Ian.
Great hammer fix Mick
What an amazing work shop Ian has.
I told your dad in one of his videos that his hammer was in good hands. Nice job on the handle!
Love that you fixed your family heirloom hammer. Good hammers are hard to come by these days. Happy Holidays!

glad you put your dads quarter back in there, im sure that was quite the surprise finding that quarter
I completely forgot about the dancing session at 4:20 😂
Nice winter project good to see you reuse and repair an item
Thx for the vid.
I am glad to see you return the quarter where you found it! That was cool… might ask your dad about it… sounds like a neat story you could use for a video :)
You have so much talent building things. It amazes me.😊
Nice shop to get projects done. Glad you put the quarter back.
Nice work. I laughed my ass off at the high speed chaos.
?? I think the quarter made it back in at 4:55 - 5:02 ??
Love the process - Thanks.
Nicely done.
Nice work on that hammer handle.
Loved this video...Boiled Linseed Oil is the best finish I've found for tools.

I’m sure you’re sick of being compared to your parents channels but this was pretty darn close. Really really good video Mick.
So cool to fix what’s fixable than buying new. Means even more to you that way
Well done young man
Well done Mick. The hammer looks great.
Take care and stay safe.😊
Cool dance moves
Was the coin your dads?
Super cool handle 😎
Where's your safety glasses? Love your videos!
That was fun to watch. I remember watching my dad replacing a handle in his old hammer. 😊
Thank you for honoring the heirloom hammer.
I’d definitely be interested is story time by Ian around his shop and projects!!!
Futures so bright you gotta wear shades!
This is a good lesson for all the people in this "Thow-Away" world of ours. Pick up some tools and learn how to do things.
At least you got your hammer back together! I hope your Thanksgiving was enjoyable also! God‘s blessings 🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏 stay warm, and safe!!
I was waiting for you to tell Ian he's pretty, too. LOL
Great job on the hammer 🔨
Kudos for giving the hammer a new handle. Could you read what year was on the coin? Don't complain about the sun. You are in Alaska in the winter!
Great video! I have one I need to replace so this was right on time!

It was a truck my dad got from his dad and his dad got from his grandad. It’s a 1935 Ford pickup
That hammer has such a 侘び寂び vibe to it. Love the story lol
Talent Talent - Without End
This is real craftsmanship fixing a old hammer 🔨 Love it ❤
A great informative video
Turned out a lot better than my recent attempt to rehandle a splitting maul.
Fantastic reason for a new handle! Even more than "I just like this hammer" I mean, why throw it out?? We do too much of that in society as a whole
Love waking up and seeing that you uploaded, great video!!!! looking forward to watching more videos!!!
Great content!!!!!!
I suppose you’ve been told ,as well as being handsome, that you have a perfect voice for audio recording and dictation. You would be perfect for narration.
Wow better than ever 🎉great hammer 🔨
Putting the quarter back was epic
GREAT VIDEO 🙌👍👍🌟

That was a very cool video.
2:31 That's a 2011 Vicksburg Quarter - glad you kept it in there. Maybe your kid will pull it out in 30 years....
