Thanks for the footage! I was on the fence when I heard this was going open world considering how these ran before on Vita, but this looks like I can deal with it

After you gave your score, I guess the frame drops didn't bother you that much.

My best guess about the shit fps at the start is that the initial town has a lot of geometry for the buildings and such that the game doesn't cull out of memory when you're looking in its direction despite there being rocks in the way etc so even if you don't see it the game chugs because it's still drawing all of that shit in the distance. It only slows down to like 10fps when you look directly towards the center of the town from any point you might be at, meaning you can look away from that direction while running to let the game sit around 40fps like it normally is.
Really makes me wonder why they didn't implement some culling method that would make it run better.

you should go back to try the iris series and mana series :D

  • @เผด็จาร-นนนนง

if it's lag in mining town , it's not bcuz is big area ,, but just bcuz texture of building to heavy for proc of vita ( too much home and rock )

Ive only ever played Sophie, I got it free on PS Plus a long while back and quite enjoyed it. It was nice with no time limit but found the alchemy a bit complex when making weapons for the post game bosses.

Kind of surprised you loved sophie everyone I talk to doesnt like it. Playing through some of it and I like it too. This framerate is tolerable for me. Thanks for the review :)

yep, Trent doesn't care about catering to hivemind mentalities. he says what he believes which is what makes him one of the best reviewers out there

The game was actually pretty good, but yeah I made a good choice getting it on PS4, because I kinda figured there would be lag on handhelds (there is hardly any on PS4). The missables, exam, and time limit really weren't really anal like the Arland games, but you should at least know where you're going before you head out. There is a glitch that causes you to crash somehow, it doesn't happen often, so you must save.

Very nice review. Having played Atelier Sophie before Firis, I ended up mismanaging my time and rushed way too much, barely having any fun in the journey to the city of Reisenberg. Too bad this game had a terrible port to the PC platform, you need a monster machine to run it at the same visual quality of the PS4 version. Sophie on the other hand was awesome, loved that game so much it's now on my list of favorite games ever.

I was expecting sales on the previous games this year, when the new games came out, but the old ones are still quite expensive even after all this time. What a pain...

They do go on sale every so often, but it's not normally the same week as a new release. I bought Ayesha for $20 in January last year (2016)

its not often that trent praises a game so much that he'd also recommend getting the console version. ill start with sophie then move onto this game

@Reviews2Go Does it really hinder the game play with freezes or is it just like a Max Payne slow motion debuff?? I'm considering whether I should buy it or not. Granted I'm lenient with those kinds of lag on open world games but only if it's still playable.

Played Sophie and that was my 1st Alchemist game, never finish game plus lol super hard. I don't know if I would like the time constraint in this one.

What are the best atelier series? I'hv played escha & logy plus and it's really a good game.

It depends on who you ask. I liked the Mystery series (Sophie and Firis) the best so far, but there are some that love Dusk the most (Dusk is the series Escha and Logy Plus is from, along with Ayesha Plus and Shallie Plus). I think Dusk and Mystery are both good. I just prefer Mystery, personally.

These are ok games, the time limit kill it for me for all the Atelier games except for Shallie which has no time limit yayyy.

      @Bueno_Y 3 года назад +1

Some of the new ones also don't have a time limit if I'm not wrong, but those are only available on PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC. I have played a little of Atelier Ryza but I never finished because I got bored
