There are 6 units that didn’t have English voices on release and 5 of them came out this month: Sayri, Rearmed Leila, and everyone on the 2024 Winter Banner. This is because of the Voice Actor’s Sag Aftra strike against the use of Voice actors voices in generative AI for the purpose of use in games.
To be fair to Cuboon, Cuboon usually is given naturally busty characters to draw; when they drew Goldmary and Bernadetta, they didn’t mess with Bernie’s chest size. My man Cuboon is innocent, lol.
But whenever big boobs are involved you gotta bash cuboon, its a big hahafunny, in the redditfeh community. He may not be the only big boobie artist bu that one in particular the "reddit" community doesnt like, im saying the "reddit community" because cuboon haters think that they are the majority of players and that their opinion reflects the opinion of the entire feh community, which is simply wrong most players dont mind cuboon at all, and hes getting so many charakters to draw for a reason g@@TheChildofAuraReborn
@@TheChildofAuraReborn Cuboon's issue is less that he gives big chests to otherwise flat/modest characters and more that he's often given already big-chested characters and he proceeds to inflate them even more to ridiculous amounts.
I'm not really a huge fan of English VAs anymore (save for a very select few), there's just too much drama that goes on in voice acting in general, and a lot of skeevy stuff. That being said, these VAs are still human beings, and having your voice, a physically and inherently unique aspect of YOU, being ripped for AI is very scummy. They deserve protection just like any person does. Hopefully this strike goes better than their last one. Also my last comment regarding Hortensia's plastic surgery (lol), Hortensia is 14, and it's not like a 14 year old can't have cleavage; Petra is 15 in Three Houses and she's got a big chest. However, it shows that the artist isn't being faithful to the character design. I'm not here to argue the morality because these are fictional characters, but from an artist's standpoint, it was not something that IS should have rubber-stamped. This is like Summer Caeda all over again.
@@dreqdreck7531 yeah let's not forget that Alfonse's JP VA (among others, cuz iirc he also voices Ranulf and a few others) was involved in a cheating scandal big enough to effectively halt his career for a while. Japan rarely does recasts. If an English VA gets in a scandal they're often replaced. If a Japanese VA gets in a scandal the character usually goes down with them.
I wouldn't say that Briar is a powercrept version, it is just a side grade. Honestly I have tried out both Shield Fighter and Slick/Wily Fighter 4 and I have personally found Shield Figher to be less reliable so i have swapped over to that. I only take like 3-4 more damage with Slick, but i actually kill enemies now which is much more worth it to me.
Idk about reliability. If you have slaying with no special acceleration otherwise you need to use marth ring for 3 cooldown defensive specials, and without slaying you can only use the 2 cooldown ones with marth ring. In terms of killing units, shield fighter is much worse, but I think we're at a point where you really want armors to survive first and foremost, not really kill (you can pick them off with your other units afterwards). It really just has almost no counters except for brave units who can quad or potent's last hit (which rarely can kill lol). Melee units are especially walled by it, and theres only a few ranged units who can reliably take out shield fighter armors
@Mark-xk3hh As I said there is almost no difference in the damage I take. I ran into a team in AR with 2 Felix, a Sigurd, and a Hraesvelgr and my Brave Edelgard survived on full HP with Slick Fighter and killed the Sigurd and Hraesvelgr. With Shield Fighter I wouldn't have killed them.
The entire Hortensia thing is just so... weird. Like, why her of all characters? It just feels super wrong considering that shes a child and all that, and that her rearmed self is just... well, herself, silly-yet-dumb clothes and all. If the game REALLY needed it (it doesnt tbh), there was Alear and Shez. The more I think about it, the more it hurts my noggin. I did pull on the banner and got everyone but Fomo (the one I didn't want), at least. But learning about the VA Strikes just leaves me with a sour feeling with the stuff I did get.
Ah so that's why there's so many characters without English voice lines. Honestly yeah, I have full support for the VAs but sadly I feel companies are still going to move foward with the AI garbage. If time and time again has taught us anything it's that companies/cooperations love saving money just as much as making money. If there's a way they can save money, regardless of how morally wrong or scummy it is, they're going to pursue it. I said this already but I really find it annoying when they randomly decide to increase the booba size on characters regardless of age. I get it, different artist etc, but come on there's a reason why everyone was clowning on Summer Caeda when she first came out.
Summer Caeda’s issue wasn’t just that she had big boobs, it’s that the entire unit’s art set was absolutely atrocious. Horrible anatomy, the eyes were mismatched in size and the faces looked like shit, there were inconsistencies in Plumeria’s wing placement in all the portraits, and no sense of spacial placement between them. I usually tend to check out the FEH artist’s other works but when you check out this artist, Ryoma Kitada, all they have is comically bad smut. Like… laughably bad.
FEH has always been...generous in how they design certain characters, I don't think it's a big deal (even if i find it annoying how some characters just sorta became "the booba character" like Tharja) but doing it for Hortensia is just kinda weird, it just seems wrong for the childish sister character, it's like if they gave Elise massive dahonkaloos too (plus they've never taken a flat character and made them that busty before iirc)
of the previous winter banner, edie is probably the one that aged the best, I still run her on a bridal lapis offence team and she pulls her weight with her three attacks. I love my man Dimitri but since the Lyon days he just never recovered, he can't do much against sweep and some units can probably just tank his vantage strat. Byleth is probably fine, but his job can be replicated by many other units now. I don't think I've ran into a single Yunaka, she has great fodders even today though. it's wild how that banner broke the meta and now most of the characters are just meh though
I want to build ascendant fjorm so i'm selling my sov fund for briar far save. I mean its not like IS is gonna give us SOV units anyway. I'm praying her refine gives her DR piercing though. She needs it.
I dont want any AI voices in my games. If a studio doesn't care enough to use and pay real VAs then I don't see why I should care enough to play their game. If a dev/studio can't afford to use real VAs then theyre mealing a cheap, low quality product.
As someone who speaks English with no intention of learning Japanese, does anyone know what the Japanese units are saying? I've been dying to know what Eikþyrnir is saying, surely he's complaining about the festival 😭 Plus although Shield Fighter is the best armor skill, it's melee locked. I wanted to give it to my Winter Marth, but Wily Fighter will work just as well for him!
Eik has one line about not being cold, others are about muscle and training, I think one says carrying presents is training, one line has him wondering if he knows what presents his siblings want
I definitely would have gotten Hortensia regardless of the buff. I like the buff a lot, ain't complaining. But I liked Hortensia to begin with cause she was this cutesy character. Same with Yunaka also. These characters are just cute. I never really thought smash or pass just thought "I like this, this is cute like a puppy" I do think the people complaining about are taking this in a weird direction. Stop thinking about a cartoon characters age. You'll only give yourself a headache if you think too deeply. It's like the whole Yoko Littner thing all over again or Zakuro Mitsukai. Oh Zakuro my beloved. It's fine to complain about the design, but anymore than that and you're guaranteed to start having contradictory points.

If it makes you feel better, the Japanese VAs have also expressed their distaste for generative AI for the same reasons as well.
